More than a tribute to his idols, I perceive these choices fron him more like a closure to his young self as a skater, in perfect timing now that the pressure is a little bit off and to start over on a new path. Like a breath with a little glance back before to launch yourself forward in a new adventure in FS (and the idea of 4A, that will be not so easy to land well - on Yuzu standard - in competition ...) and then also in life.

And I have to say I am really happy not only for his choices (i liked always so much that FS of Plushy) but - more - because he chose them: you can feel finally a sense of acomplishment that he is starting to realize, and also he understood what is the right thing to do as human being and athlete in this point of his life, i.e. something for himself without the pressure of the thought of the others (also if I am not sure he will really able completely to do it).

Finally scrolled and skipped thru 40 or so pages to find out the announcements on the new programs.
So, the 4 Lutz aint on, 3F is bye2, 4A in progress, 4 min is harder to execute all that's needed.

Costumes, oh.., no prob, if I dont like the Johnny Weir(didnt like all of J. Weir previous designs), just focus on the legs.

Till the competition/tournament starts......back to Asian Games.

Honestly, I was surprised by his music choices. I thought he would choose something modern for at least one of his programs but he unexpectedly ended up with such original musics. I'm even more surprised it's what he likes and always wanted to skate to. Personally I'm totally fine with it, it's not exactly to my taste though. Program wise, It's different from his usual style, the music is dramatic and dynamic and I have no doubt of Bourne's choreography. I totally can see judges would like it.
After watching some small footages of his practice, I have to say his free skate has great potentials to become another masterpiece if he skates it clean in competitions and I'm sure with his superior quality of jumps and skating, it won't overshadowed by Plushenko's program.

ISU regrets it already that they didn't push through the 6-jump-type-bonus

Looking at the jumps, the steps, the spiral and all the other delicate touches of this program, I can't imagine that Yuzu will not break any new records... this is beyond comprehension. Already. Johnny and Plushy must be so proud of this boy... I'm sure, Yuzu will skate his heart out in every competition.

Btw: Can't wait for the NBC commentary this season  I'm so curious, what Johnny has to say. I guess, he'll need a Pooh-tissue box, too. So many tears...
And Plushy in Moscow? That could be extra special in so many ways...

For me this is not only the most personal and moving tribute I've ever seen... this is a reminiscence and revival of figure skating history. I don't think, there is a much better program choice than that... Inspirational :points:

Oh, me too! He has been nice when he does commentary of Yuzuru's performances but I believe this year is going to be extra

I'll be honest, I really want to see SP practice, too  I wonder if we are going to have something more tomorrow, I saw Jeff at the rink so he might get interviewed? We'll see.

Oh Yuzuru
Can’t believe we are blessed with so much content in one day! I can’t contain my excitement.
Liking what we’ve been shown so far... though still a bit reserved about the ending pose.
I somehow really love that 3A2T(rippon) so much I keep replaying the part.

Thank you for all the updates!

These were exactly my first thoughts as well

But also: :sad4::sad4::sad4:

Are you new to skating? As far as I remember, this: https://youtu.be/4EqgCu78bIw
It is not commonly used in skating.
And this: https://youtu.be/x0FY9mf9ZdI
It is also not that commonly used either.

They might not be "never been used before" but they are not warhorse music. And who are you to decide which music is better like "he can do better" because? Not a fan of both Plushenko and Weir. But the music itself is not a problem.

The Tribute to Nijinsky music was composed by Edvin Marton for Plushenko. That is a mix from Marton's Art on ice music and the "Afternoon of a Faun" . Nijinsky is unforgettable in that role, Plushenko's choreographer , Yuri Smekalov premier dancer and choreographer in Mariinsky Theater (Kirov Ballet) used his moves in the program. Only Adian Pitkeev( If I right remember ) skated to it.

Plush and Mishin read Nijinsky's biography after they have decided to make a tribute to him.

oh, and I'm so excited about Yuzuru's 4A! Some years ago not many people beleived any skater will land in it.

I should reconsider my career aspirations and work as a fortune teller :palmf::rofl:

If the rest of my obviously not-crazy-enough-predictions turns out to be true as well, I'll laugh my ass off :laugh2:
Wow! You are a soothsayer like Seimei himself:cool2:.
If his FS was Yagudin's Winter like your another choice, it covered the three seasons except summer. Still, aside from Nijinsky,

SP : "Otoñal" : autumn
Gala (?) : "Haru yo koi" : spring

I wonder what this sense/touch of seasons is all about, and whether this is intentional or not :).

That's my favorite jump of his, even more than his quads.

as exciting as the concept of a quad axel is, it's also really scary...i really hope the risk is worth it over potentially career ending injuries. but if anyone is going to do it, it's hanyu.

I didn’t knew all this, thank you for the background information

You guys must be all too young to remember that Otonal was one of the most overused music pieces in figure skating for years and years. It is one of those well forgotten warhorses. Old fashioned too. I'm not a fan of his music choices for the upcoming season. I get his reasons but boy oh boy this should be a hard season for me.
I am still “old” enough to remember “the beautiful blonde lady won WC with it” (Maria). And please it is not like people use it again and again like Carmen & POTO. It is not “never before” but it is tested to work well for ice skating programs. Also the short program is short people will not notice it is a boring piece of music. They use music with repetitive motifs all the times for short programs lol.

As for Nijinski, call me cheesy but I have always enjoyed that music cuts for whatever reason.
