He also said "I want to win of course" in the interview after the first practice, so I guess he has feeling for both "competitive side" and "experimental & fun side". And I also think he has been very careful about what he says to the media, especially about his future plan, because sometimes they take his words differently (it happened before when he said something about his retirement and he had to explain to them what he meant). So he might be thinking "say less is better", this is my only speculation though.

He said he plans to introduce 4T+3A in his program, it is 0.8 value. What is this experimenting? Why?
Btw I don't take his words I wanna skate for myself lightly. He doesn't seem content to me, there's some kind of rebel in him. What cause it?

I'd say more like his usual struggles with English, imo.
And besides he did just complete his longtime goals of back to back OG gold. There's bound to be a period of adjustment.

Yeah, he has to be cautious but also I feel like he doesn't really care anymore? He's a bit mysterious to me right now. His behavior is very different or so it seems. I don't know. He's definitely in a transformation period.

They lowballed him on PCs. He was gorgeous out there. I understand the ur and the invalid spin but his PCs shouldn’t be that low!
It was ridiculously lowballed. Other than the spin, everything else from musicality to, interpretation to flow across the ice was on point. The quality of skating today was, how should I put it, transcendent. It was a very good first outing of a new program by him. Compared to a lot of empty programs this season we've seen so far, Otonal was packed with choreography and transitions, I don't know what else one can do to get higher PCS from the judges.
and the lowballing on the GOE on the jumps were worse. The 3A had one of the most difficult entries & exits and deserved +4 +5 but judges were giving him +3 and even one even gave +1.
I know he always gets treated extra harsh in Canada, hence now I am worried about how he is gonna be treated in GPF :noshake:
Yuzuru did everything an athlete dreams of doing. Right now his only goal (or well the only one he knows he wants for the moment) is the 4A. Brian implied he already land it so he only needs to do it in competition. He may be struggling to find something else to skate. Skaters need a motivation, we all do. He can be like this for a while and he may be like this. But this is Yuzuru Hanyu he will find another unachievable goal for-someone-else-except-for-him soon, maybe going for a third goal, who knows he is that extra, and be fully...himself ? again.
