Zoe Jones, Zarah Wood & Zinia Wood

Well, it turned out that Zinia was a withdrawal from Skate Celje. So, we will have to wait a bit longer before we see either of the twins in action this season.

Hope all the family are keeping well

Sorry that I am again posting here. I'll get the proper Fan Fest written and posted as soon as possible.

The twins are both in action today at the British Championships. And, to add a little bit of spice, they are going back-to-back! :drama:

The Advanced Novice Ladies SP is due to start today at 11:30:00 GMT. So 6 hours from now.

Zinia will be the 7th skater to start. So, seventh and penultimate skater to go in Group 1.

Zarah will be the 8th skater to start. So, eighth and last skater to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 11:30:00 GMT. So 6 hours from now.

Zinia is due to start at 12:03:30 GMT. So 6h 33m from now.

Zarah is due to start at 12:08:20 GMT. So 6h 38m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

No videos uploaded yet 😞

Zinia finished 8th out of 24 in the SP, with a score of 25.83.

Zarah finished 6th out of 24 in the SP, with a score of 27.69.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

Livescoring is working now.

Zinia went into 3rd, and was immediately displaced by Zarah.

So at the end of Group 1, Zarah is lying in 3rd position, 1.86 points ahead of Zinia in 4th position.

At Novice level, deductions are half a point. So, it is interesting to see that Zarah had two deductions (1.00 point), while Zinia had one deduction (0.50 points).

EDIT: They finished up 6th and 8th, with local girl Isla SHENTON (SHE) splitting them.

:cheer: WELL DONE GIRLS!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

When the Protocols were published, @Weetos pointed out that Zarah actually got a 1.00 point deduction for a time violation, to which I replied:

What?! So at Novice level a time violation gets you a bigger penalty than a fall?! That's crazy! :drama:

I did think that it looked funny that the one that appeared to have had two falls finished two places above the one with just one fall. Because, as we all know, a fall doesn't just earn you the compulsory deduction; it also earns you minus marks from the Judges, minus GOE, etc.

But now that I know that it was a time violation rather than two falls, everything makes sense. Because a time violation wouldn't have any further impacts like a fall does. It is just -1 point, and that's that.

Nevertheless, she'll have to be more careful with her timing in future.

Thank you so much for pointing out what happened.  :points:

:thank:

Analysis to be edited in whenever I have a chance to go through the Protocols.

The Advanced Novice Ladies FS is due to start today at 11:00:00 GMT. So 6 hours from now.

Zinia will be the 17th skater to start. So, first skater to go in Group 3.

Zarah will be the 19th skater to start. So, third skater to go in Group 3.

And that is as much as I can say, as the Time Schedule PDF links are taking us to an error page.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

Did I hear right that one of the commentators said Zoe is pregnant?

Anyway, unfortunately the first two groups were not on the stream after it finished, the early part seemed to have dropped off, but I did send a message about it and was told it would be fixed - so hopefully you'll be able to see the girls SPs soon.

The Wood twins will be in action at the British Championships this week in Sheffield, Yorkshire. And today Zinia will be the first of them to get their campaign underway. (Zarah doesn't start until Saturday).

The Junior Ladies SP is due to start today at 11:44:00 GMT. So 6 hours from now.

Zinia will be the 6th skater to start. So, sixth and final skater to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 11:44:00 GMT. So 6 hours from now.

And that is as much as I can tell you, because the Time Schedule PDF's are not working.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Hope this helps

Zinia finished 8th out of 24 in the SP, with a score of 37.52.

Unfortunately, I didn't realise that the British Championships were being shown on YouTube rather than BIS TV. However, I wound back the stream when I did find out later on, and have now watched the Warm-Up and her programme.

Here is the sort of comment that I would have written about the Warm-Up for the competition thread if I had been watching LIVE:

The skaters come out of the gate in order, so Zinia is at the back of the queue, wearing a grey fleece over what appears to be a black dress.

There was a graphic showing the running order covering most of the screen for a large chunk of the Warm-Up. And just after it disappeared, we saw Zinia take off her jacket and hand it to her Mum. We now saw that she was wearing a black dress with a red pattern on the front. And I reckon I've seen that dress before. But, I don't know who was wearing it. If it was her, or her sister, or her Mum, or somebody outside the family!

She then circled around and did a lovely jump in front of Zoe.

For a long time, all we saw was Zinia lining up jumps as she was going out of camera shot. But, eventually, she did a combination jump in the middle of the rink. The first part did not go well at all (I was amazed she didn't end up on her backside), but the second part was lovely.

After circling around, she then did an individual jump in the middle of the rink, and that went much better.

She then had another go at a combination jump. Again, the first part wasn't great - she landed it two-footed. But the second part was good.

We then switched to a camera at the end of the rink, and it focussed in on Zinia. She circled around, and then did a lovely combination spin.

Back on the main camera, and we saw her moving through shot a few times. And then she did another spin, but the way she came out of it looked a bit wild.

She managed to fit one last jump in before the end of the Warm-Up, and it went well. And then she headed back to the gate, while doing ome arm stretches.

Really looking forward to seeing her programmes for this season.

And here is the sort of comment that I would have written about her programme if I had been watching LIVE:

Mmmm. Sounds like that "epic" version of "Hit The Road Jack" that we are getting fed up with hearing.

Yep, it is.

Beautiful Double Axel to start with.

Nearly over-did it on the first part of the combination jump. But the second part was fine.

The Flying Camel Spin immediately afterwards was good.

We changed to a different camera (where the picture wasn't as good) at the end fo the rink, but she was too close to it when doing the Double Flip, so her feet were cut off. But what we did see looked good.

Back to the main camera, and the Change Foot Combination Spin was lovely.

Step Sequence good.

Nice choreography during the instrumental bit.

Gaaah! We changed to that other camera in the middle of the Sit Spin, and then changed back to the main camera as she was finishing it.

You know, I may not like that version of the song, but I really enjoyed that programme.

Big hug from Mum when she came off the ice.

My goodness, seeing them sitting together, Zinia and Zoe are so alike. It's a good job Zinia is wearing all black and Zoe is wearing all white!

Awww. Zinia is handed a goodie bag, out of which she pulls a British flag, which she waves to the camera while her Mum waves her hand to us. And then both of them make heart shapes with their fingers to the camera. So cute!

She goes into 2nd position.

:cheer: WELL DONE ZINIA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Zinia is currently 0.60 points behind 7th position, Darya DALGICH (AMO), and 0.93 points ahead of 9th position, Gailie TSANG (PET). All three of them are part of a group of 9 skaters covered by 6.65 points, stretching from Ava WILSON (BAS) in 5th position, 2.50 points ahead of Zinia, down to Gemma RATCLIFFE (NIC) in 13th position, 4.15 points behind Zinia.

Zinia has to be careful here, because this could go either way. If she has a good Free Skate, she could move up, potentially into the Top 5. But if she has a disappointing Free Skate, she could slip down out of the Top 12.

So let's hope she has a good Free Skate!

:cheer: WELL DONE ZINIA!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start today at 11:31:00 GMT. So 6 hours from now.

Zinia will be the 11th skater to start. So, fifth and penultimate skater to go in Group 2.

And that is as much as I can tell you, because the Time Schedule PDF's are not working.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Hope this helps
