I love Young's dress. She has beautiful shoulders.

The preparation of the 3A was maybe too long. But good job for the rest of the program.

If not for the Olympics, Mai really should be nominated at least to the Worlds as a safe bet to secure Japan 3 quotas

That was overall a good skate, even if the 3A didn't work. There was a moment on the glide in where you could see her hesitate, lose some speed, whether it was nerves or feeling something off in the approach, but well done to her for putting it right out of her mind and getting the combination done afterwards. Also, she is one of the few skaters who is supple enough to have a really good split jump, with a proper split at the height of the leap.

Japanese fed disagree. She was consistently better than the one who got the spot except once. But the once was too much.

Very nice to see all of these skaters who are usually not the highest rated ones. They are all very lovely and enjoyable. Best wishes for the future for them all.

Yeah, they needed to deduct in PE and IN for the 'big mistake' in the programme, but SS and CO were the best in my opinion (and judges gave her the best mark for SS and CO on pair with Mai).

Congrats to Mai! I was a bit surprised that Haein came on top of Yelim but I guess Yelim had level issues. Kudos to the American women - nice showing here, hope it will carry on to the freeskates. Tough day for Young, Rino, Yohana and Daleman.
