Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

what the... what was the cue here? "Make him look like a potato sack ninja"?? Whoever told them about the ninja skating and gave them this idea, you are on my naughty list for Christmas!

I have to say that costumes do not translate well on TV or photo at all! They are so much more breathtaking in real life, and when I read that people who watched the stream or video had problems with certain costume, I was like:"I don't remember that..." Especially the ones with rhinestones and jewels; they are just incredible. What I'm trying to say is that I am a Yuzuru-bling convert! (Oh no! )
funny you should say that, because I had a similar experience
and yay, one more for the blingy side :yay: welcome to my corner of the world where everything sparkles and glitters

I tend to agree.

Sharing a piece of news here. Yuzu arrived at the Shanghai airport, welcomed by many (female) fans, nothing wrong. He was asked by some Japan journalists what he felt about the fans at the airport, and his answer: 'Surprised, but very happy. And a little shy.' He also mentioned that his condition was normal and he wanted to concentrate on the match. Since his withdrawal from Finlandia Trophy due to a back injury, he has managed to adjust himself to the new season.

I can't read Japanese, and got it from a Chinese translation on weibo(http://www.weibo.com/u/1826082103?from=feed&loc=nickname). Thank you, Panda the translator!

Thank you chestnut:clap:

Today after the flight landed, I realized I really couldn't concentrate on my work at all, but instead I was concentrating on SNS updates. Need to learn how to concentrate for 2 MORE DAYS!!

I hope Hanyu and Julia both medal so both of them can make their appearance at the gala. Romeo/Phantom meet Juliet, music and dance, need a follow up from Sochi Gala cutes.

It would take a complete meltdown of epic portions for either of them not to medal  lets not jinx it...

Good Morning aired exclusive interview (not too long but quite interesting. It gave me a good laugh) and video from photoshoot for AERA cover http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x29917t
=>
His mother thinks he is too talkative and speaks too much. When she couldn't stand, she will say "enough!" to him.
When he does the image training at night, he often hits the wall, making loud noise. His mother will come to him and say "what on earth are you doing now!"
He is really an annoying boy.....

It's just a roughly/bad translation...I tried my best...please forgive me if I make any mistake...

Q:Do you have any change before/after winning OGM?

Yuzu:I don't feel much different. Though being a champion, I have to keep winning and it does give me a lot of pressure. However, figure skating is what I really love and I do it out of fondness. This feeling never change.

Q:How others look at you before/after winning OGM? is there any difference?

Yuzu: The level of expectation from others is totally different. But, because of the huge expectation, I have the motivation to keep going. To be honest, I feel I have changed a lot this year. I don't want to be too conservative to progress so I will try my best to do whatever I can do .(put 3 quads in FS). There is big evolution of jumping arrangement of FP/SP in this season, which may give everyone a shock. But I will work hard to have everyone feel my revolution.

Q:What is "Yuzuru Hanyu" look like in your daily life? e.g. when do you wake up and when do you sleep?

Yuzu: It is hard to say...but since the training time in Toronto is not so early, normally around noon or afternoon, I usually sleep right before the training time. On the contrary, I will stay up late at night.

Q:What do you do at night?

Yuzu:I will do image training before my sleep. I will do it mainly in my head but sometimes I will actually move my body.
I stay in Toronto with my mother and she often scolds me, saying "you are too noisy"

Q: Scold you?

Yuzu: because I am really noisy (haha). For example, when I do my image training with real movements, I sometimes hits the walls and make loud noise, shouting " Ouch!"
And then my mother rushes into my room and ask me "what on earth are you doing now!?"

Q:You are earphone fan?

Yuzu:Indeed, I am more like a earphone-holic than earphone fan.
I have around 50 earphones and each of them has different function, such as for sports,listening,video...

Q: What music do you listen while in Sochi?

Yuzu: I listened the songs from "sketchbook", e.g. the song "Way". I listened to the song because I think it suited what I feel at that time, which motivated me.

Q: What is your ambition of this season?

Yuzu: Meeting the new season with big three title, to what extent I can do has lot to do with my future skating life.

Thanks so much.
Hanyu said he sleeps till just before his practice needs to begin.

NHK World news about Yuzu's arrival in Shanghai. The video broadcast dual languages, English and Japanese. If you want to listen English, using the right earphone only will be ok!

Well I'm glad at least he said he is happy about the fans at the airport(not that he'll say anything otherwise); I can't imagine flying for ~14hrs and having to be photographed! Chinese social media sites are arguing over whether these fans crowding him are a bit too much or not; the argument being he is an athlete, not an idol. Hopefully fan behavior has nothing on his mentality and performance.

And I'm off to the airport myself for a 12 hour flight to Shanghai! First time in China, lots to worried about but also lots to look forward to! :yay:

That's where I am! Thank goodness I've a week off now. Can't think about anything else. You must have known what BOrser said about his LP costume?

I just had to check this thread, so he really is in China now... I must admit to feeling a little bit surprised. Every time I checked this website in the past month, the first thought on my mind was "Okay, where it the topic where it says Yuzuru Hanyu has withdrawn from the GP series?" I'm terrible, I know. :slink:
To see my fears unconfirmed is such a relief, I cannot begin to say. :yay:

Actually I think some fans are too sensitive. I agree that fans in the airport or hotel might need to be a bit more refrained, not to crowd him into the corner. However it is very common to wait for popular athletes in the airport or hotel, and even ask for signature everywhere around the world, including Japan.

For example Plushy was so happy when he saw his Japanese/Chinese fans in the airport and hotel waiting for him in recent months. So I don't get why the argument is about he being an athlete or not. He indeed is not an idol from Johnny's, where signing or photographing with fans is forbidden, so I guess the J idol rules do not apply here. And I think he is getting used to it, after all there are more enthusiastic fans in Japan, and being photographed by media right on arrival has become a routine. As long as no one tries to interrupt his training, stalk him to hotel room, or scream his name despite the program starts, I am fine with fans' enthusiasm.

I think the mistake was form the organizer of CoC in publishing his flying information, while in this case there were fans, creeps can also access to this information.

Let's not get too worried. Yuzu must have been used to the situation because figure skaters are quite adored by fans just like idols in Japan. I believe both JSF and yuzu' team would be aware that yuzu is getting popular in China and next time would be more prepared when they come to the Worlds.

Can Yuzu dance with Julia then Kanako and then Li Zijun

Ladies' man! Think Polina will älso match up well with him as they have the same long, lean look, but Kanako is my sentimental partner of choice for him.:o:

That's where I am! Thank goodness I've a week off now. Can't think about anything else. You must have known what BOrser said about his LP costume?

Please tell us chestnut. Thanks in advance.

And thanks to everyone who posted links, translations, and updates! Those two Yuzucat pictures are so funny and cute!

I think the problem is he come for competition not for shows or other commercial activities. Plushy or football team visit China are often for shows, it is welcome for fans to greet them in the airport or hotel. Anyway, I hope his fans can calm down and not to disturb him until the competition ended.

And no one will scream in beginning of his SP :sarcasm:

Big thank you for everyone for the updates and to bibi1899 for that funny interview translation! I am very excited about the upcoming competition! We finally get to see the POTO and the costume and the technical layout of both programs- that is what we all have been waiting for. Yay! Good luck to Yuzu, hope everything goes the way he and his team planned. Keeping fingers crossed!:yay:
