2015 Russian Nationals Short Dance

I think I did see hand to hand extended hold in Sinitsina/Katsalapov steps, which is not permitted in partial step sequence. They may lose level for that in future, I think it needs to change...

Thank you!

Call me crazy, but I don't think Ruslan is invisible behind Elena at all--I watched him more than I expected, considering I don't usually watch the guy. :) Elena does project better and have more dramatic facial expressions--especially in the second half--but Ruslan is no slouch.

Enjoyed watching S/B and M/K too. As for S/K... I don't think it looks too obviously bad, compared to the tech score. But... is it just me, or do Nikita's twizzles look really, really bad? I don't just mean the lack of sync. I'm just talking about how it looks on its own. He's barely holding the position, and he's whirling fast, but not in an impressive way; instead, it looks like he's out of control and could go flying off into the boards at any moment.

Anyway, regardless, I don't agree with the people saying they're already a bust. They need time. I just hope he does something about those twizzles.

His tqizzles have always been quite a mess... A lot of the time he barely could hold them with Elena (don't forget the Europeans when his twizzles went off and that could have led to Elena's fall)... Her's always looked solid while he was all over the place at times... Well, to my eyes, it only got worse.

Nikita has never been good at twizzling. It's one of the few things Victoria is better at than him. Her twizzles are generally pretty steady with good tracking, while his are all over the place. Nikita is an enormously talented skater, but he has some glaring deficiencies that a good tech specialist could help in correcting. I hope S/K change coaches.

They have no time. I/z and z/g started after they did and both of them are already technically superior and that doesn't even take into account m/k and s/b and b/s. they need zahorski never to b released by France, soloviev to retire and still they are 4th at best. I don't know what they are waiting for. B/s i/k and r/t were numbers 1,2,3 for 3 years! Only at the end was r/t taken over by z/s. they have no time.

His twizzles drive me crazy. If he kept pace with Vika and took the opportunity to really straighten his upper body and help his balance he could become secure in this element.

All of Katsalapov's shortcomings as a skater were hidden behind what I/K was supposed to become and actually was at times. But he had these problems and him not being secure technically in his new partnership doesn't help either

S/K don't skate as a couple yet, and the problem is that it's not because they are new, they aren't that new anymore , meaning that some sort of coordination should be visible. She's a controlled skater, she comes from a technical school, she's not extremely talented but what she does she does well. He's all about showing off, and behaving as if his new team is his old team, while the team isn't stable on the technical side yet.

That's where the problem lies for me.

I think this is why teams at this championships that started after they did are doing better.

He never had to concern himself with real issues of partnering because Lena is an exceptional ice dancer. I think sooner or later this thought will come to him, if it hasn't already. He is talented but he has challenges with control. If he doesn't get through this barrier he will never experience the breakthrough he is hoping for. They need more time and/or a very good technical specialist. gmyers has a point though if they don't begin to address these issues soon they will be left behind.

I'm happy S/B came in second, next to I/Z they have been one of the more pleasant surprises of ID this year, for me at least. As for S/K, I will say the skating has improved some, but the performance was very bland to me and their twizzles are still ugly; I don't care if they don't fall, synchronicity and arm position is still important. The choreo is nice but they can't make the subtleties in it shine. I feel like they're playing it safe because they want to be on that world team, but what they really need to do is skate like they want to be champions.

Thank you! What is the one in hold called please?
