Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I'm sorry to ask it here, but why Shoma wasn't selected to World??

Maybe JSF doesn't want him to experience his first senior competition at Worlds, which would be too risky even if he's very consistent, since succes at junior circuit doesn't translate exactly to seniors, especially with PCS scores, even if his JGPF results were very competitive at seniors. And they want him first to win Junior Worlds and after build some international senior success first, like Yuzuru did for example. For this, 4CC is a much "safer" senior debut.

I think Han Yan might medal if he pulls it together after the nightmare of season he had. If Denis does it too (I think he usually peaks late at the season (?), i'm not sure) he might get the title, his programs are just too wonderful, both of them. I actually want Denis to gain consistency and challenge for the top.

I want Yuzuru to win if he's flawfree, I know that he usually is excused of one or two errors, but I'd rather any of those two plus Javier or whoever to be honest, anything can happen. The worst scenarios would be either Yuzuru bomb (no!), or win but isn't clean and any of the top skaters doesn't but is clean :drama:

I'm not fond of Nam and I don't think he's there yet, he has the jumps (they are not outstanding though, there's room for improvement I think), the consistency, the coach but everything else for me is (??) I can't seem to like his skating ...

Anyway so much speculation, as If I ruled the "Worlds" ...

Also, If Yuzuru wants to "dominate", the best bet would be consistency honestly, because he already has the reputation, everything. Him landing consistently 1 quad at SP and 2 at LP would be much harder to beat than any Yuzuru with an inconsistent "supposedly quad loop", those quads seem so distant. But we know that he will be upping technnical content nevertheless though ...

I also want Yuzuru to be consistent but I want him to push technical content as well :drama:

Well, a lot of times those two are very mutually exclusive at least for some time.. :drama: We know that a bunch skaters, attempt those types of quads in practice and land them yet this means nothing when it comes to competitive skating. I've heard that Javier can do all types except 4A of course, and I've read something about Max Aaron (?) landing another type too, there's much more reports I think, I can't remember right now, terrible memory. They are doing those quads since some years ago, of course doing them require a lot of talent but there's so much more into adding them to their actual programs. I think it would be great if Yuzuru manages to push some technnical content, he should just think more and more of his health and making sure that it's adequate and not sacrifice his skating too much and his body just for the sake of it. Let's hope he will

Yuzuru was hospitalized so that he can be examined properly for his stomach pain. He lost 3 kgs because of the fatigue.

Poor kid. I'm worried right now...

:drama:  If he loses more weight he might disappear. I hope that the hospitalization was really just for precaution and the problem with his stomach isn't very serious.

Yeah if his body and health says that he can't do all the quads then it's understandable if he doesn't push himself to try to land them all in competition (he already pushes himself so much oh the injuries ) even with his current layout when done cleanly and consistently he'll win but knowing him he would push himself but overall I just hope and pray he doesn't damage his body too much before 2018 Olympics. :hopelessness:

I translated this in rush so my english must be much more disastrous than his 4S. But it's a very very impressive interview (after winning today) I wanted to share.

As a competition, this is how to end. [I don't understand what he meant at all. maybe related to intervewer's question not written]

(about the performance) It was a little regrettable. I got tired during spins. But I think it was good as I had the least mistakes while I was in a bad condition. It was hard in terms of stamina but I was telling myself 'Never give up and do my best until the end' no matter of winning or three-peat. I still have the fatigue from GPF, and I'm in a bad condition, so it was a bit hard. I think it was good that I kept on delivering my performance until the last second, especially the two 3A in the second half, although i had to slow down my speed.
I couldn't bring myself up from the official practice, and I was even talking (with BOrser) in K&C that I was already tired in 6min practice. This competition was a good experience to think about how to jump 4S in such conditions.
When I was having warm-ups off ice, I thought 'I'm feeling quite good' but I didn't feel good in 6min practice already, so I thought I was tired.

(jumps) I paid my attention to what I could do at that moment. It's my bad habit that I paid my attention to forms, not forms to jump, but forms for forms. So I dared to jump at the timing which I felt comfortable.

(4T) I had confidence for 4T, that I nailed all 3 of them in competitions.

(tight schedule) Doing GPS, GPF and National is hard for all skaters. I've experienced this a lot. From Sochi, it has been a valuable experience.

(wininng) I'm happy to have good result, and I have a feeling that a three-peat is a wonderful outcome, but I'm tired (laugh). I feel strongly that this long year is finally over.

(other skaters on podium) (Uno) I've competed with Uno in novice and junior times. We only have 3 years of difference, I feel more like he's one of my generation. I'm happy that one of those competing mate is coming up, and also I feel that I have to work harder as a senior skater.

(three-peat) It doesn't matter much. Third time or first time, a competition is a competition of that year.

(this year) It started with Olympics, I have experienced so many things. I had so many difficult times both mentally and physically, and it's not something everyone can experience. For example, the mind to compete after winning Olympic, or that accident in CoC, that disaster in NHK, they were rare experiences. This has been a year in which I experienced so many things which most skaters don't.

(learning things this year) What I learned this year is not a level of 'just these.' So many things happened, and I think it was my joy to be able to skate till the end.

(next year) Being Olympic champion or National champion, they are all glories in the past. No matter how recent they were, they are the glories in the past. I do feel that I'd like to maintain my pride, but I'm not skating in order to keep such thing. I really love skating, I skate and compete because I love to jump. That's the thing that I can't miss in my skating life.

(what did you see after climbing up a wall which you said was in front of you after NHK) A wall. There are only walls after walls. I think human being are like that, when there is a challenge, we want to solve it because we are all greedy. Maybe I'm more greedy than others but at the same time I have people supporting me to achieve it. I'm really a happy person.

(when do you feel happy?) During the accident in CoC, I didn't mean to cry before entering 6min practice but so many cheers are given from the audiences, and that made me happy. I still remember that feeling, I'm just doing my best to do what I love, and there are people who support me doing what I love from their heart. That's something only I could experience, and I'm very happy as someone doing a special sport like figure skating.

(are you happier than winning Sochi?) I can't compare them, I don't think it's necessary. I was happy to win Olympic, and I'm not sure if that did any good to the fans. Now I only feel the joy of being supported, and the joy of doing what I love.

yuzuru's protocol from tumblr user seobiiiiieluv

Xylitol White .......................... With a proper costume?? Is this real life?

And Yuzuru obviously likes this little brother.

Don´t know if this was posted, videos from the draws... http://www.fujitv.co.jp/sports/skate/japan/special.html#drawm

This morning newspaper confirmed about hanyu was having back pain yesterday but he did not want to expose it then because it would sound like excuse:/
Also machidas mother (??) said machida had back pains as well.

http://www.weibo.com/YuzuruInfoStation#_rnd1419740101814

Learned from the translation ( Japanese attached below the Chinese translation) that he lost the balance of his spin after the fall was not caused by the back pain. It was his blade stuck in the crack on the ice (!)

It has been announced that Hanyu-san will not appear in the gala Medalist on Ice

Seems like he's been having stomach pain since GPF...

Translation of Yahoo article on his withdrawal from the Gala. Rest and recover fully Yuzu.

Just saw this pix of fanboy Sota striking the pose

saw this on tumblr, its great fan art

Some video about Yuzuru and a little of Shoma http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2diqsm_141228_sport, they seem to talk a lot about headphones

I hope it's just due to some improper Spanish food, nothing more serious:hopelessness:

I have a book with me that's a guide about symptoms, illnesses and surgeries. I looked up food poisoning in it and I would say it's pretty unlikely. It says symptoms can start within hours or days of eating the food. It's been over 2 weeks since the GPF. 2 weeks does not mean days. Plus it says most cases clear up within a few days.

I hope it's nothing serious either. But from what I read, it's probably not food poisoning.

But Yuzuru now have also quad loop and quad lutz  I think he will never gonna attempt quad lutz in competition, but I think quad loop may come close to 2018. Yuzuru is now in situation when Chan was starting his domination. The diffrence is Patrick was sticking with the same tech content all that 4 years. It was not touchable for anyone, but then come Yuzuru - catched his tech and passed. That's why I think Yuzuru is still upping his tech content to not let anyone catch him by 2018

You got a point there with Patrick. And yes you're right, I forgot that our boy is practicing other quads (I might sound like a worry-wart but I don't want Yuzuru practicing the quad loop. Whenever I look at the loop, the take off seems to require effort on the waist and it might only worsen his back pains). Shoma is impressive for his age, but my bet is still on Nam. I think he's only getting better, but that's my opinion for now  I'll wait until the pre-olympic season

Yuzuru lost 3kgs due to fatigue, this means he was just 50kgs at Nationals??? oh no that is just...too much.

That's only 110.231 pounds! (According to google when I typed in the kg to convert it to pounds) That's lighter than me! That's SCARY. WAY too light for him. Omg...

Now I hope so badly he's doing okay.

Hospitalized...hope its just precautionary. They'll probably have him do a CT scan to see if they find something and if not, they may have to do an endoscopy to make sure its not something serious since losing 3k's in a few months and abdominal pain is nothing to wave your hands at.....really wishing its just fatigue and stress since that can be cured with rest and time off.

All of Nam, Shoma, Bojiang and Adian (Pitkeev) are from the same generation, the 1997-1998 one, and they're all quite talented, but to catch up with Yuzuru they still have quite a bit of work to do: Nam must improve both his spin and his skating skill (hopefully with better speed his jump will be bigger), Bojang must improve both on components and goe, Adian on consistency and projection, Shoma must prove that this season wasn't the odd one out ( after all before last year national championship no one was thinking he was going the same route as Tanaka and Hino)... right now if I had to make a bet I would bet on Shoma, but all of them are still behind the 2011-2012 Yuzuru, and after that season Yuzu has grown exponentially in every aspect of his skating, and tackled most of his weakness (he has improved immensely on his skating skills, he has worked hard on his lines and extension with pretty good results and he has even improved his stamina).

Still thinking about Yuzuru's competition from now, it just now hit me how much a huge huge loss is the end of the competition between Yuzuru and Tatsuki, for both of them. They compliment each other so much. Tatsuki loses to Yuzuru in TES, and overall ice coverage and speed while Yuzuru can't execute programs with the sophistication, and type of complex choreography that Tatsuki does and was so unique of him. Both have weakness that are strong points of the other, and the competition between them would make both grow so much, they work so well as a balance. Tatsuki was perfectly capable of beating Yuzuru and taking gold at Worlds and several others international competitions, that's why it was so hard for me to see him struggle to manage skating and studies and them choose the latter. I better stop or I will transform this post into a mini farewell for Tatsuki, if it isn't already. Hours after and I'm still affected. Anyway. that's why it would be very healthy for Yuzuru to have a strong competition with a skater that have somehow different qualities, to be a continue incentive for improvement. Even if sometimes Yuzuru's motivation comes across as very steely, the existence of those types of competitions really matters. I'm really looking foward for Patrick's return, not only because I like his skating but because of this reason as well. I'm on a roll today with my rants, sorry
