Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

What makes me worried is that, he had endured the pain ever since GPF but he didn't check it until after he finished GPF. He didn't do the gala show which means his condition was too weak. I am just amazed that he could even skate that well in the free skate, except the 4S all those jumps were top notch quality. He did look quite subdued in the SP, though. The sign of his poor condition had always been there. :hopelessness:

But nevertheless he will celebrate New Year in hospital now. Rare experience for him. Maybe the doctors and nurses will lecture him every, though. Wish him the best luck at Worlds in Shanghai because I know he will go there.

Despite the 4S fall, I actually liked the first half of his Nationals LP better than the one in GPF. There was a power and energy that went beyond just the jumps. The performance did taper off a bit towards the end (even though he did the lutz this time)... but I guess we know why now.

I know he wants to go to Worlds and thus I wish him the best of luck. But for now, I just wish him a speedy recover and good health. That's the important thing, whether he gets a good result at Worlds or not.

That's certainly one way to look at it, but... I was just thinking the exact opposite, actually. It's like there's a little guardian ice/figure-skating angel making sure Yuzuru's alright this post-Olympic season.
Perhaps it's a strange idea... Like, even though there was the crash, as Yuzuru said: a split-second off and he could be gone. Then there's NHK as a chance to start getting over the trauma, and followed by getting into the GPF he was fighting so hard for by 0.15 points. This new health issue was able to be held until just after the All Japan Nationals with three months until Worlds as room for healing.

Or maybe the universe does have something against returning Olympic Champions and it's the positive energy of us fans helping.
I don't know, just some ramblings and thoughts here. Of course, we don't know how these events will affect the future, but we may as well try looking on the bright side of these events this past season rather than letting our worries for the future depress us.

OK, those are my two cents. I'll be sending Yuzuru good energy as I go back to the wilderness of unwritten essay words.

at least with this time Yuzuru leg and back will heal a bit, He will have then almost two months for hard training, so I think he should be okey for Worlds :dance:

That if Yuzuru still is a Symbol Athlete of the Japanese Olympic Commitee, because that was the reason he was doing advertisement for P&G in the first place, along with Daisuke. It was all promotion because of the Olympics. The contract was supposed to last one year and he signed it at the beginning of 2013, and there was no news that he'd renewed it.
If we want to guess at Yuzuru's ice show schedule, you should look first at which shows are organized by CIC, second at when they will take place (i.e Friends on Ice is in August and he's always in Toronto around that time of the year). He has never signed with IMG, so ever since his worth rose in 2012 he was out of all the IMG shows except Stars on Ice, where he was invited as a guest in Japan and never for the whole tour. I'm pretty sure that even without the surgery he would not have skated in SOI in January, since his name was never announced (and the cast has been out for months) and the tickets have been sold out a long time ago.

Glass half-full. I like it This kid just can't catch a break health or otherwise. :hopelessness: I was really worried when I heard surgery but reading some more, it sounds like it was minimally invasive so that's good...Just really want him to not be in pain anymore and be healthy and happy (though it's probably a pretty tall order right about now). Hope he rests up and listen to the doctors order, and let his body heal up. Looking forward to hearing some good news for once..

I hate that Hanyu has had such a rough season this year after winning Worlds and the Olympics. First the nightmare that was the COC accident then the fight for survival at the NHK to his glorious triumph at the GPF were he successfully defended his title and now this another set back. I'm so glad that the doctors were able to diagnose it and hopefully take care of the problem. I pray for his recovery. I don't think he'll sit out Worlds it's his last competion of the season and you know how much he's going to want to defend his title. Well 2015 is a whole new year with new possibilities. I look forward to want that will bring us. GET WELL SOON YUZURU!

I love your thoughts about this, that there might be an angel of sorts who protects Yuzuru just for him to be alright (at the right moments). On the bright side of this, he has enough time(a few months) to recover and possibly train until Worlds. Also, Yuzuru experienced such incidents/injuries/illnesses that not every athlete can go through in their life. With all these happenings, he can become even stronger than before because he overcame the hardships, right? Those are just my thoughts.

But I think he is like an angel because he brings hope with his concerns for who are suffering some loss and with his touching exhibitions.

Ohh Thank you for this. Listening to the Chopin cut, I realized just how much I really love that program...in my head I can just put together each steps, jump, spin, even arm movements with each key....as well as the that slight anxiety of the impending 3Lz combo And the cut itself was extremely beautiful to listen to on its own. Gives me feelings very similar to his R&J 1.0 yet the programs are completely different from one another. It really does takes the right kind of program to get him to bring out his great musicality. I hope we can see more quality programs like this from him in the future. :yes:

hopefully ice shows will be less this year but also hopefully he wont push himself hard, trying all kinds of quads to please audiences as well, i think thats one of the reasons why he was so tired after ice shows
