Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

A part of me wonders if Hanyu will stay with Orser until 2018, or if we'll see a breakup after this season. Hanyu has barely trained in Toronto at all this season.

Yuzuru doesn't want to leave Orser. He trusts Orser that's for sure. Yuzuru trusts Orser's team, the choreographers in Toronto. You can see Yuzuru's reaction with Orser, Tracy... .have you seen the scene Yuzuru put his GPF medal on Orser's? I doubt that even if JSf want Yuzuru to leave Orser, Yuzuru would never listen to them. Not to mention, even if he loves staying at Sendai, he enjoys the tranining environment in Toronto as well.

It is possible for him leave. Nothing is for sure, but if it does happen it will be because of an external force and not by his own accord. He has said that he wants to stay and has no intention of leaving Orser's team. He trusts them completely.

I'm home now. Even though I registered the word 'figure skating' (in Japanese) previously to record the programs automatically, my stupid BR recorder didn't record tonight's 4CC. So I can't check the scene of Mr. Orser.
I traced the posts backward to yesterday. And I feel sorry to all of you because my post seems to have triggered, unexpectedly, the past 24 hours chaos on this thread.
Since I'm a mother of a son of Yuzuru's age, I know he's the person that is frustrated at this issue the most. And I can't do anything for him but only wait for a certain official (?) announcement. I feel tired, so I'd better sip harb tea and sleep too.
But so many people are concerned for his health condition around the world! That's wonderful!
Happy Valentin! And good night, Japanese people.

Don't take it to heart, in here anything can blow up  Thank you for the updates and happy valentines day to you too

I hope Yuzu''s going to stay with Brian. I like the way Brian treats his skaters..he seems to care about them very much. And I like that Yuzu and Javi are in the same team.

The only way I see it is if he gets home sick and decides to settle down with someone. Which is why I'm hoping he doesn't meet THE ONE anytime soon.

No! The idea that Yuzuru may leaves Orser makes me scared and sad although I know it's just in people's imagination. Because if that's true, to me he would have so many similarities with Yuna in different aspects that I would be worried about the next Olympic gold medal.

That thought scares me too!

I highly doubt that Yuzuru want to leave, he loves training with Javi and Nam. He has grown to trust Orser team so much we all can see. Not to mention he has set up his goal.
I don't want to make JSF into a villain but seriously after all what I have heard about how JSF treat their skaters, I feel kinda worried. I hope Yuzuru stays strong and no one from the fed can make it difficult for him and Orser.

I wouldn't compare Yuzuru's case with Yuna. 1. Because Yuna was almost already done with figure skating mentally after Vancouver with nothing more to achieve, which doesn't seem to be the mindset with Yuzuru. 2. The communication between Yuzuru, Javier and Orser seems like a continuous work-in-progress with strong bond as a base, while with Yuna after Vancouver the relationship just seemed fraught with misunderstanding with Yuna's mom being the power player in calling the shots. (as far as I can see I don't see as much family involvement from Yuzuru's parents, at least not around/inside the rink.

all this mess started because Yuzuru is still in Sendai, but he’s been in Japan practically all the season . Yuzuru decided to recover coachless from COC injury and reached his best TES FS ever in Barcelona. So there’s the option he’s there simply because that’s the place he wants to live and to train .. all the skating universe knows nobody can stop him when he has a goal in his mind, so if he wanted to live in Toronto he would be there actually…

In anycase I think JSF and Orser would be better not offering this type of weird show to the world , because it’s not so good for them both . Yuzuru is a person and not an object and , first of all, not their private object. What about Yuzu’s feelings actually?

A funny tiny bit of words from the 18 yr old Yuzu regarding Valentine's day:
http://ww1.sinaimg.cn/bmiddle/005HzgOQjw1ep86z7kse2j30i703djsn.jpg
He said he was a bit upset ("shocked") that he was not able to stay in Japan for the Valentine's day that year because he had to go to Canada for training. He hope one day he can receive chocolate of love from the one he loves.

I think I get your point. Well, nothing is for sure then. Honestly, I never imagine Yuna would leave Orser before she announced that. They seemed so close and happy as coach and student and nobody would ever think about their break-up. But they did break up... We won't know things behind the curtain.

And things can change. Yuzu used to say he would never leave Sendai (though lots of skaters already go abroad for training) and he wanted to become an Olympic gold medalist who is totally born and bred on the land of Japan. But then he left Sendai for Toroto...

Now what I can say is, no matter Yuzu leaves Orser or not, I hope they keep a good relationship.

Yuzuru has been practicing under Orser's guidance, yes, he's in Sendai But he has done everything according to Orser's plan. Before that in the summer he also did the choreography with Orser team. Even when Yuzuru is in Japan, They exchange emails often, and I am sure at some points Orser knows more details about Yuzuru than JSF.
And yes, people say he still archived huge TES at GPF and Nationals without Orser but that is not correct. Without Orser by his side, his 3lz3T hasn't been fixed. Orser spent the whole night after National SP to rewatch Yuzuru's luzt and it helped him in the FS.
And yes, Yuzuru still has some issues need to be fixed. Practicing coachless for so long might harm him a lot. He needs adjustment in the choreography, he needs to fix his 3lz3T and 4S... He needs to rebuild his stamina... In short he has many issues and being alone will do no help, especially that most skaters have their coaches watching over them to peak at WC. Some people should stop dismissing Orser's input.
In any cases I think Orser only wants to help Yuzuru. He wants Yuzuru to come to Toronto asap so they can fix all the existing issue as much as they can. If Yuzuru stays too long in Japan, who will help him adjust the jumps, transitions and choreography? What Orser suggested is understandable. And it's not like Yuzuru will be allowed to jump right away when he fly back to Toronto.

he didnt decide to recover coachless though, he needed to go to japan for treatment and it would be pointless for him to go back to canada and come to japan again for NHK, same as staying at japan after GPF cause nationals was 2 week after, but he kept in touch with brian and followed the training program brian prepared for him, i never heard of him saying he wants to live canada or other country, but training abroad? sure, he said he would retire after 2018 anyway, not like he is gonna be in canada forever,

also i highly doubt yuzuru thought about leaving orser, you can see how close they are as TCC , so what if JSF forces yuzuru to leave orser and train in Japan? what are they gonna do if he doesnt? cut his scholarship? ban him from competing? it would be silly move really, i know Japan has many upcoming talents but not at Yuzuru's level yet

Not to mention, when Yuzuru left Mrs. Abe, it was because he wants to improve his technique, tell me where else Yuzuru can improve his technique better than with Orser team? Other top coaches in the world are not in Japan. So if JSF wants to keep Yuzuru in Japan, they will have to find a Japanese coach on he same level. And it's not that easy, they will have to build the mutual trust between coach and student from the scratch. Yuzuru is not the type who easily trust. It will be difficult like hell. I don't think Yuzuru will like that idea. And he said he would go anywhere to improve his skating.

I read the book "Team Brian" and other magazines. Yuzuru didn't content with his Sochi performance at all.But he said, "I was most happy about Brian pleased (with gold). I am very grateful to Brian."They trust each other.

And Yuzuru and Orser consider this season as a challenging year (now literally...). Orser predicted Yuzuru would struggle with jumps because they were looking for a style not familiar with and something technically difficult. Only for showing new style in Pyeongchang and winning gold with Yuzuru's real satisfaction.

So I think they don't care much about this year's ups&downs. Maybe they're even thankful for his disease developed this season but not Olympic season. I don't believe they will be separated before 2018.

Meioma, believe me or not, I’m sorry for you.

in 2012 Yuzuru left Nanami because JSF paid his training in Canada with JOC money, so there was nothing he could do but to go and we know how painfull it was for him to leave Sendai behind. As someone has already written , we don’t really know what’s going on behind curtains and today we had a clear demonstration of it ... but Yuzu is not going anywhere, he is in his hometown with his family, friends ...

Yuzuru said sometimes ago (I remember it, there's a photo and it could be found): "I"d go anywhere and do anything to improve my skating." On the board he wrote:"Study and fix myself."

And that's pretty legit. His mind is strong and he wants to improve. I don't know who initiated the coaching change but there have been interview (he was still in high school back then, white shirt) he said he moved to Orser because Orser had a student with strong quad (Javi). And those lines are in his actual interview with video footage, not just in some articles told by people who are not Yuzuru himself. I'm sure if you care to dig the media thread you will see it. The video in which he talked about his "new coach" when he was just 17 years old or so.

Obviously Yuzuru loves his home town an it was not easy for him to move to Canada but he had set his mind. And it's not like studying abroad for several years to achive his goal does any harm to his love for Sendai. He goes there to study, he hasn't reached his goal he will not stop.

once Yuzu was in Canada there was nothing left to say other than he was happy, I suppose....

Actually nobody has tied him to a chair, so to speak, and the mess started because he's in Sendai and not in Toronto ... at this point even if they put him on a plane it will appear a little bit forced I think and not spontaneous .. as I've already written , what about Yuzu's feelings now , knowing what's going on on his head?
