Okay, I'm going to watch some videos and ignore the fact that certain forums are filled with crazy people. Can't we at least be happy for more than 2 seconds?

Kimmie has never landed it internationally. Yukari Nakano is the other one.

I also like Nakano way more than the other 2, so.... on another note, Liza was awesome!

No, Kanako was fantastic: clean, elegant and energizing. Satoko had a fine skate, she's becoming very consistent, she is elegant as well, but those jumps are just unacceptable.
I can't admire and concentrate on this girl artistry and ss with those ugly jumps around. I just can't. Sorry. :scowl:

Pleasantly surprised by the Japanese girls! They all did better than expected.
Elizaveta's 3A was good and I'm sure it will get better in the near future. I do want to see better SS and TR from her, but boy, those jumps!!
Radionova seemed a bit stressed...but she hung on and sold her program like always so I'm happy for her too!
In fact, all my favorite ladies did exceedingly well.
Zijun, Kanako, Satoko, Rika (whom people said could not possibly make top 6) Mae... This has been quite a good competition so far.
Anything can happen in the FS though so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I'm so sorry for Kiira and Anna.

Woke up to see a lot of bitter comments about Liza's 3A.....it is an amazing achievement for the ladies, but some people just cannot help themselves but to hate because Liza apparently is "surpassing" their favorite skater.
Just to add, Liza's 3A was so effortless i thought she was attempting a 2A
Yes. I'm not a "Liza fan"—she really isn't my usual cup of tea—but she was undeniably amazing, and griping about it looks silly.

Yeah, I thought her PCS were rather low. They should've been up there with Polina and Rika, at least. Alaine's SP really suits her and her SS + performance were strong. Just goes to show how skating in an earlier group does you no favours...Alaine Chartrand placing below Gracie and Anna after SP is SURREAL. :shocked:
I know she wasn't clean, but just take your time, play those three vids one after another on yt and...
I completely agree. She was lowballed because she skated so early and does not have the rep of Gracie and Anna, who were touted as fighting for the medals. But no way Chartrand should she have placed below someone with a fall. Chartrand has some strengths that should have helped her to score significantly better in PCS than she did. She is fast, with great basic skating skills and her program is sophisticated. She also has good spins. I think it's clearly a case of a relative unknown not being give the PCS credit.
On another topic, I don't get the judge love for Rika Hongo. The jumps she did were absolutely beautiful. The spins, I would say, are serviceable but subpar. The posture is awful at least 50 per cent of the time. Her shoulders are most distractingly up around her ears.

If someone is insecure and defensive enough to praise Mao in order to throw Liza under the bus, it really doesn't reflect well on someone to counter that by praising Liza and throwing Mao under the bus. 
I'm still exhausted from last night/early this morning, still heartbroken for Ashley. Congrats to Liza and Kanako for two of the most impressive performances of the night and defying the odds (Liza by doing the triple axel and making it look easy, and Kanako for showing everyone who counted her out how wrong they were). I hope the American ladies can move up in the free skate. Both Ashley and Gracie tend to skate better as underdogs. A podium finish is probably impossible, but I'd love to see them redeem themselves.

I thought Alaine's score is generous compared to her relatively clean SP performance at 4CC which resulted in 58.50 (32.23+26.27). She managed to land all jumps at Worlds, but the landings were shaky. She tends to screw up her FS with a lot of URs and even downgrades, so unless she has built a consistency on jumps at FS as shown in SP just like Rika, her PCS would not get higher.

Rika has improved on the posture. And the program was better performed here than in the past. I wouldn't say the judges "love" her--they just reward her for what she does. Considering how other people scored, Rika's marks are hardly worth, er, remarking upon (apologies for the pun).
Alaine doesn't have Rika's consistency, especially in the LP, so it's hard for her to build up momentum and make the judges notice. And her 3-3 is still at the mercy of the tech panel--remember, she beat Rika in the SP at CoR, when her 3Lz-3T got ratified.
Same feelings here. Too bad she doesn't (yet) have Yuna's speed or clean jumps, but she could get there with time.
