2015 Worlds Ladies Short Program March 26

Is their video yet? I'd love to do another slow motion of her jumps. I've seen a few posters say my video exposed her flaws on a fully credited with positive GOE jump. Maybe if I make one from this WC I'll be able to show her improvement since then and convince people that her 3-3 should in fact score higher than say So Youn's.

That would be interesting. Is it possible for you to do another skater with "correct" technique so I can understand by the comparison?

I was horrified by the underrotation on that jumpamatron, Sam. Why is she getting +GOE on clearly underrotated jumps? Someone needs to be forwarding these videos to the tech panel.
Makes me think the tech panel is just picking jumps at random.
Believe me, her jumps at this competition are not better than that. I am downloading the video and frame by frame screenshots will show you.

You have to admit she is cute as a button and really does have nice skating skills. I think her SS are a bit over exaggerated by some but she is definitely up there with some of the better skaters. I don't think though that her 3t on the combo was any less UR'd than say Alaine's was but then again I haven't had a chance to study it with my editor. I guess I'll figure it out shortly enough.

Miyahara's "fully rotated jumps" delusion reminds me of Polinas "perfect flip techinque" delusion. Except Polina rightfully gets dinged for hers. :sarcasm:

That's pretty harsh. I get what he's saying, but that's a really nasty way to say it. He could have said the attack was there, but the program needs refinement. To say it didn't have an ounce of beauty is just mean (IMO).

Her jumps are beautiful. Isn't that what matters? I didn't notice a score for "beauty." (Except maybe for Kiira Korpi). :)

Oh she's a lovely skater. I just don't like it when UR'd jumps aren't marked as such.

I hope we can criticize Miyahara's technique and scores without attacking her as a person. I mean, she seems like a hard worker and a nice girl, I'm sure she's trying to improve. I can't follow the Japanese press, but she's not as forthright as Polina, is she?

I don't get the complains towards Gracie being in front of Ashley. Wagner with the same TES got higher PCS in the past, but no complains then, on the contrary. The popular believe was that she deserved those PCS. :sarcasm:
TEB: TES 29.24+PCS 32.11
GPF: TES 29.84+ PCS 30.40

Gracie here had negative GoE's for her missed combo and Lo. The difference in both TES and PCS is not big either, although IMO Gracie is much better than Ashley in many components like: SS, CH, TR PE (here defenitely better than Ashley). The problem for Ashley here, besides not having the same quality of elements that Gracie has, was that she Ur all her jumps and double footed one also. She was lucky not to have an ! for her Lutz as well.

I thought that you posted something about a Buttbomb. I was hoping to see a weird fall or something. I was very disappointed once I opened it up to say the least. No wonder this sport is suffering. Even decorated athletes who have earned a living off of Figure Skating struggle with the concept of respect and can't rise above their own inner child when speaking in public. This line of thinking just makes me want to tune out.

I understand Goldenskate delicately caters to fan adoration and cheer, but some of us have strong negative reactions that we're entitled to express elsewhere. Jeffrey Buttle is in no way obligated to filter himself on Twitter. It does not make him childish for being harsh. Feel free to disagree and tune him out but of all the reasons figure skating is failing, having an opinion is not one of them.

I hope not? He's not talking about her physical appearance (if you're serious).

With Miyahara its not her, its everyone else. With Polina, its just her. :slink:

What does ounce mean?

It is a unit of measurement in the English system, 16 oz = one pound. It can refer to weight or liquid volume. But the saying means she doesn't have even the tiniest bit (of beauty).

Gonna step in and say she doesn't have the tiniest bit of beauty =/= there wasn't the tiniest bit of beauty.
