2015 Worlds Men Short Program March 27

All my favorites in the last group. I don't care who ends up where or in what order. Big props to Jason Brown for making it in there. #TeamKoRo I think though if I can pick one guy to lock for the podium this year it would be Sergei! This guy just connects with my sentimental side. Good luck to all. :)

To Chinese and Korean people, it's like the swastika, it's extremely disrespectful

Thank you for taking the time to explain it. I don't think the fan meant any disrespect and I hope that they don't get in trouble.

I know about Japan's failed attempt to conquer Korea and China during WWII and all of the millions of people that died, I just didn't know about the reference of the Rising Sun. In America they often refer to Japan as the land of the Rising Sun but, never as a derogatory term or at least I've never heard it that way.

It's okay if you don't know, history isn't taught very well in schools these days and even when I had been in high school they gloss over these things a lot, as long as people are willing to learn when they encounter these things, it's all good =)

I thought Yuzu's scoring was fair. At least based on the criteria of the system. I mean most if not all the spins should bet +2, the StSq +2 or +3, 3A +2, 4T –2, and the combo +1. For me, components of 8.75/8.75/9.25/9.25/9.50.

The ice is crap. It was really soft in the beginning of the week someone got the bright idea to make it harder and now the sound and the skaters are digging into the ice...like hockey ice. This sucks! It also reeks havoc with your landings especially if you have a deeper edge like Josh.

Rule changed a few seasons ago. I've seen jumps that would normally be called step-outs with both hands down called a fall under the new rule.

I think Hanyu got called for a fall on his 3F at Sochi but his butt didn't touch there. Wonder why he was or was not called today then.

What was the other time? I'm going to watch some men right now....

Not related to skating though, I means the 2012 demonstration that dispute over the island lead to anti Japanese protest. My English is not really good, and this is a sensitive topic thus I will try not to comment about it anymore.

Rewatched Yuzuru's SP, that final combination spin in his SP was really good, nicely centred and very strong positions, as unusual as one of the positions are where he puts his foot above his head, I like it. Normally I prefer my ladies for the spins but Yuzuru has always been so strong on this front

A volunteer on Weibo saw Yuzuru changed costume, and the volunteer said the scar on his body is about 10 cm. :jaw: what??? Maybe the volunteer exaggerated a bit. Because Yuzuru himself said it's just 4cm.

I hope Misha Ge and Brezina stays in the top 10. It'll be a great victory for them. Misha does need to work on his SS and speed though. But i love his programs and he always gives it all.

Also, why didn't China send Jin Boyang too? He might get a decent score here.

Yikes. With his ankle and all, I hope he's okay after worlds. The long is a different beast.

I don't want it blown up either, but it's a deliberate act. Look at all the Japan national flags people bring and someone picked out the Rising Sun to show in the nation where it reminds them of the killings, tortures, rapes, looting and all the atrocities committed against them. There are still some unresolved issues between Japan, China, and Korea.

ofc he did skate terribly & Im no fan of his at all Im just a bit tired of same old same old comments (that i do agree with actually):slink:

Yeah, at the end of the day he's a 19-year-old kid who was held up one too many times (not his fault), is trying his best to get better, and I think the pressure is crushing him. And the meme about him being some kind of hateful monster is ridiculous. There are so many young skaters who say/do similar things on social media, yet none of them get called out the way he does. He's just a simple "good average" skater who loves his (adorable) dog.

I see Adam's triple Lutz was marked as UR... But I'm not sure about it. What do you think?

Find an HD version of his skate today and post it in the Jumpamatron thread. I'll be at the rink most all of the day but can get to it at some point.

Can we talk about something else? I'm going with 'oblivious fan who thinks it looks cool' or something... and Hanyu was awesome.... and I want him to do a layback spin.

If Yuzu doesn't win, and Mura and Taka have LPs similar to their SP performances, will Japan lose its 3 spots? sorry if this has already been discussed, I have not followed this thread closely.

Well had had WW2 to great extent in history class at school. But then I'm German. We learned quite a few things about the war in the far east and know about the feelings (until today) in Korea and China towards Japan. But this flag thing associated with the term "Rising Sun" isn't widely known in Europe, I suppose.

Now, I'm a tiny bit wiser. What about the term/expression "Land of the Rising Sun"

Sorry, for being off topic.
