2015 Worlds Men Short Program March 27

i think you should buy a lottery ticket :) you may have a better chance winning the jackpot :) but interesting… nan song is not even skating the finals… ouf… sadness

Neither is Libers, but he was in my no one gets 3 spots theory as well. . . so yeah my predictive abilities can sorta get lost in translation.

all i hope for is that canada keeps two spots… i'd be sad for future #2 when Chan comes back :)… japan should have 5-6 spots every year :) but i'm more than okay with the limit to 3…

He needs to learn not bail out of the jumps. Learn from Yuzu - take the fall, but rotate rotate rotate!

Look at his protocols: zero points for 2T, zero points for 1A. (The 2T was a zayak? But why was the single axel invalid?) Clean 2A would have placed him above Josh.

its not because of zayak but the rules requires that non-axel solo jump must be at least triple, he couldnt do anything about it doing triple toe or double cause as far as i know you cant repeat the same jump in SP unless its combo (3T3T or 3Lo3Lo), and cant do single axel as well

Sorry I should have probably be more specific. He was talking about the program itself and the way he skates it. Comparing it to Javi I believe he said it's just on "absolutely another level". Honestly, I agree. I see the huge difference as well although I like Javier a lot and would probably put him first today.

Yes, he was. He promised otherwise, didn't he?.. :) Mao88 has posted the video with his commentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhi_z5Hey9g

Thank you for clarifying, now I understand. I tend to like commentators more when they talk about the program on the ice, and not the program that "could be skated". If "could be skated" was a criteria, Rohene Ward would have OGM.

Kovtun's meltdown is the stupidest thing I have ever seen, AT THIS LEVEL of competition. I mean by now any elite level skater should know that singling and doubling is a suicide. Even with the falls on 4T and 3A, he would have ended up in top 5. What a waste of that monstrous 4-3.

For the short program you need to do a solo triple jump out of steps, and either a 2A/3A. popping a planned triple/quad into a double will get you zero points (nothing to do with zayak), and doing a 1A will get you no points too. Neither fulfill the short program requirements. And indeed, he should be going for the rotations as he has nothing else really, to get him points.

EDIT: I see someone got to this first :)

It reminded me of Verner's SP at the 2009 GPF. Monster 4-3 then pop, pop. Training 2 quads in a SP, I would think he'd be immune from the "Yay I landed it" syndrome and hold the rest together. But not today. He can still pull up though, lots of others underperformed too and there are a lot of wildcards in the penultimate group. Medal is out of reach for sure, but, he could still wind up doing okay and Russia could get 3 spots.

No, no, no, that's a "great catch of fish" flag. See there's the ocean under the sun? And the red fish jumping from the sea? It says "Hang in there! Onagawa!" referring to 3.11 disaster. Onagawa is a place name in Miyagi prefecture, where Yuzuru is from. Miyagi is famous for fishing. That's not the same as military rising sun flag. Totally different. I understand there is the rising sun drawn, but it's a different flag.

If Kovtun had done a single triple toe, would it have counted? Sorry if this has already been answered, but the thread is too long to peruse through.

With downgraded 4T and a fall on 3A he would scored up to 15 additional points which would put him around Han Yan, Voronov and close to D10.

The USA is in danger of losing a 3rd spot for next year. Brown was lucky to get 6th. Could have been 8th if not for certain meltdowns. At the top, the leaders after shorts, some fine men's programmes. Overall, I was more impressed with the ladies.

Well aren't you just a bundle of joy. Actually, no, he wasn't lucky. He put the work in and skated a virtually flawless program. His competitors screwed up because they lack his ability to perform consistently under pressure.

Kori is so striking with that make-up on (glam goth), never saw her like that. she appears to be a hipster type.

:agree:

As usual, Jason does his part with a clean skated, artistic and musical program, and is a virtual tie for fourth with two other skaters. Keep up the good work, Jason! :cheer2:I quite like both Josh's and Adam's LPs, and I would like to see them skate well. Then they can do their part to help retain the three spots.
