State of Russian Ladies in skating: 2014-15 Season

But....the reason that Serafima moved from St Petersburg to Moscow was because she had no sponsors and couldn't get proper funding. Has that changed now that she is senior?
The matter is that Serafima's family was partitioned since her moving to Moscow - there was her mother nearby her. In addition, they have had problems with accommodation in Moscow - Serafima has lived with Evgenia (Zhenia told about this in her ask.fm)

I hope no one is chewing them to pieces like some seem to be doing with the US ladies. It just shows that they're all human--whether they're Russian or American.
Kovtun seems to be the one getting all the blame. As usual  Many dance couples and pairs are new, so people didn't expect much from them. As for the ladies, Radionova is mostly praised for skating well while not in her best shape and Anna is just kinda forgotten in the media :ohwell:

I find it hard to believe that Eteri would let one of her top students just leave because of backlash from the ending of a relationship between a 15 and 16 year old. They are little kids, surely nothing too terrible could have happened. There must be more to the story. I hope that Serafima can continue to get funding and good training in St. Pete. I wonder if she will go to Mishin?

Honestly 15 and 16 year olds are not little kids. Any number of terrible things could, indeed, have happened...and even if not it really is not unusual for people of either gender to react very poorly and melodramatically to the loss of their first serious bf/gf, much to their disbelief/shame/denial later in life.

They say in IG that Pitkeev is no longer with Serafima because Pitkeev likes Evgenia already? How crazy is that?

I agree. Even if nothing terrible happened, that first loss in itself may be terrible enough so to speak. Who are we to say it's not too terrible. It's all about how you feel in that moment. It's not fair to say a breakup doesn't hurt just because it's just a breakup. If you were invested in it, it hurts whether you are 15, 25 or 55.

I wonder if Liza is going to do 3A there.
Liza says she will have to in front of Mao's home country crowd:biggrin:

aw poor Simochka:cry: I really hope its all rumour about Adian/Zhenia b/c tano twins friendship was the most adorbs thing
Makes me think about Liza talking about her focusing on sport now & not letting love into her life in the recent documentary.

Not really that crazy when you consider its Russian skating

If fact considering some things that have happened in the past its rather tame....unless something else comes out later like Evgenia purposely went after Pitkeev to mess with Serafima and pushed it in her face  Not that I support that ;)

After reading the Russian forums, I conclude:
Serafima's leaving Eteri Tutberidze - 90/10 - yes
Serafima's parting with Adian - 50/50
Love relations between Adian and Evgenia - 90/10 - no

This season Zhenia had a great many successes in her skating career including winning the junior worlds, she has also grown up quite a bit and is a very pretty girl. Adyan developing feelings for her would not be at all surprising. Given that she and Sima are best friends though, yeah I can see how that could get a little awkward...especially because they are young and teens that age make a big deal out of so many things.

Well, for many adults even could be rather awkwarduncomfortable for everybody, specially if it was not a mutual "it doesnt seem to work, lets just be friends", but actually one person leaving and the other just heartbroken. And then they have to spend a good time of the day together, the one who left feeling guilty because the left one got a =( face all day etc
if thats the case, the decision of training somewhere else for a few may be really good - new people, new bf maybe ^^

Come on now people, this Adyan rumor is just silly. Most likely it's some personal matter. Maybe they didn't have the money to stay in Moscow, it's much more expensive. Maybe someone in Sima's family got sick and she decided to move back.

Is there even confirmation that she is back in SPB permanently, not just on a break? I wish people wouldn't get carried away with rumors and fan fiction every time something "interesting" happens - like the whole mess about Yulia leaving Eteri, Ksenia being pregnant or dumping Fedor (or vice versa). :rolleye: It's so silly and I hate trying to sift through it all looking for factual information.

Agreed, it seems kind of irrational for her to do that.... well, I'm still hoping for good luck and GP medals, so... :slink:

No official confirmation, but several of her friends were asked by fans and confirmed that she left to Spb permanently. Maybe they're misinformed, but it does look like Sima is not with Eteri anymore.

I want to make note about the change of the powerhouses in gymnastics and figure skating (women). Mary Lou Retton opened the door to legitimately compete for medals ever since she won the all-around Olympic gold medal in 1984 after years of Russian dominance in the sport. Adelina Sotnikova opened the door for Russia in figure skating when she won the gold medal last year after years of American dominance. That is just my observation. USA is dominating the gymnastics world currently. Russia is the same in figure skating.
