Favorite Costumes of All Time

We all watch skating for different reasons, but for many of us (some of whom may be embarrassed to admit it ), the costumes are one of the most fun parts. As varied as the reasons we watch skating are our tastes in skating costumes, and I want to know: what are your all-time faves?

My picks: (I'm a very new fan-since the last Olympics-so they're all recent)

Mao Asada 2013-14 SP (the one with the ombre flowers)
Gracie Gold 2013-14 FS (Blue one)
Elena Radionova 2014-15 FS (The blue and yellow one)

Dance

Shibs 2014-15 FS (the first one, which was the purple lace for Maia and the tux and tails for Alex-I was so mad when they changed costumes! )
Chock/Bates 2013-14 SD and 2014-15 FD (the black and white ones)
Hawayek/Baker 2014-15 FD (not a fan of his ombre shirt but I can overlook that because her dress is flawless)
Testi/Csolley 2014-15 SD
Ilinykh/Katsalopov 2013-14 SD and FD (both too fabulous for words )

I'm a relatively new fan as well, so my choices are neither general. I'll just add some IMO good ones.

Savchenko/Szolkowy 2013- 14 LP: I'm not quite sure about the colors but at least hers is gorgeous.
Virtue/Moir 2009-10 OD: The olympics' one is beautiful, maybe simple but I think it fits them well.
Hurtado/Diaz 2013- 2014 FD: Risky but soooo original, the painting of Dora in the back was everything.
Evgeni Plushenko 2003-04 LP: I don't pay much attention to men's costumes but I liked this one, is not so crazy.
Weaver/Poje 2014- 15 FD: I never liked his, the belt and the color ruined it in my opinion, but Kaitlyn's dress at the GPF was one of my favourites.
Yulia Lipnitskaya 2013-14 LP: No words needed really, simple but effective.
Stephane Lambiel 2009- 10 LP: Tell me please I'm not the only one who loves this .

I'm sure there are much more out there. Yuna has a big selection of pretty costumes: Les Mis, Concerto in F, Kiss of the Vampire, Send in the Clowns, Homage to Korea...
and totally agree with Volosozhar/Trankov's Masquerade, both looked absolutely amazing that's why I got into figure skating.

I love that dress too! It fits Akiko and the music really well.

Yuna's 2010 LP dress was beautiful, along with Yulia's 2014 LP dress and Elena's 2015 GPF LP dress. There's so many other dresses that I like too.

This season, I actually really like Elizaveta's dresses, its suits her and her programs great , Papadakis/Cizeron FD costumes are really nice and simple and Yuzu's POTO costume is actually lovely!! Personally I think it is SUCH an improvement from his past ones

Sasha Cohen's pretty much all the costumes with the exception of yellow/blue Rach's but especially Torino lp's one as it suited the program to perfection.

14 posts in and nobody has brought up Peggy Fleming's classic dress yet? What kind of skating fans are you? :shocked:

Among more recent skaters, Kiira Korpi and Akiko Suzuki wore consistently gorgeous dresses. I love that Korpi isn't just skating by on her looks but playing with draping, unusual colors and color blocking. Those skirts with the horizontal stripes -who else would wear that? Laura Lepisto was also very well-dressed.

I am very partial to Yuna Kim's Bond Girl dress. That was beautiful - and so chic! I also liked the dress Mao Asada ended up using for her Rach 2 program at Sochi and Worlds. Very dramatic.

Ice dancers are often well dressed. I'll note Elena Ilinykh's tutu for Don Quixote, which was lovely (this is one of my favorite skating pics ever); Pechalat's Dr. Zhivago, Circus and Craziness costumes, to name a few; and Sara Hurtado's glorious Picasso dress. Oh, and Anna Cappellini and her many cute dresses! Anissina/Peizerat's costumes kind of scream R&J, so not super-original, but I love the program so I'll mention them anyway. And of course... the Kerrs and their kilts!

And I don't care how tacky it was, I loved Alena Leonova's pirate look.

I'm generally meh about men's costumes, but if you're going to do a Matrix program many, many times, you may as well get a good costume for it.

I don't really get excited about most ladies' costumes, but I loved Kailani Craine's SP dress this season...it reminded me of something Sasha would wear. And I always will be a fan of Mao's Scheherezade pantsuit and Akiko's peacock dress...and Alena's pirate costume.

For the men...this season I loved Michal's Game of Thrones costume, Sergei's FS (the "new" improved version...the original shirt was not good), Javi's FS costume. Going back I loved Plushy's Godfather and Adagio/Nijinsky costumes, Stephane Lambiel's William Tell costume, Tomas Verner's Carmina Burana & Zorba the Greek, Javi's Pirates costume, Daisuke's La Strada...

And definitely V/T's Masquerade Waltz costumes, and I/K's Swan Lake costumes.
