Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

2015 worlds gala practice.
You guys just sound like Yuzuru does quads to be admired. My opinion he does them because he explores which hights he can achieve in his fav.sport.
It's different points of view, that's all.
Btw, Madison Chock retweeted video of Yuzu's 4R-3A. So glad that ice dancers appreciate that too.

Do you have the clip to yup performing to pang tong's I dreamed a dream? I can't remember seeing this?

Yuzuru said once in an interview that he liked to be a single figure skater because he had a whole rink to himself and that people were watching only him then. He definitely couldn't have been a pair skater or an ice dancer ^^ He wants people to look at him and share his world with them, definitely. But it doesn't mean that he is full of himself and only wants to show how superior to the others he is. He really is skating against himself all the time and always challenges himself to raise the bar higher. Being able to do a perfect 4L in front of everyone was a little victory for him after this terrible season full of hardships and frustrations, and a little extra for everyone in the arena :)

I’m totally with you.
It’s a victory for him to have conquered so much adversity this terrible season, I believe.

By the way, have you ever read an article below? The third paragraph from the bottom (quoted below) really shows that he reached another level. Tears are in my eyes.

http://the-japan-news.com/news/article/0002090660

“When Hanyu took the ice at the official practice on Friday, other skaters stopped for a while to watch his performance. The aura of Hanyu has apparently become stronger, a likely result of the confidence he gained from overcoming a tough season.”

You can smile that I'm such a fangirl )))
But I think, that Yuzu could be a good dance partner, he pays attention to his lady partner (Mao eg or Cathy Reed- he shows so much tenderness for her).
But one thing-when skating in group numbers my eyes glue to Yuzuru (I wasn't his fan back then when he skated group number with men on Mao's show "The ice).
I've noticed his special ability. It's like prima ballerina and other balerinas.
TJ group number too - I can say that Yuzu and Satoko has that extra quality of expressing the music.

As for -I dreamed a dream-here is the link.
Just 25 seconds.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=IpORfU0X5T4

Unfortunetely after fall a moment was broken.
But before-it was so powerful! He cannot help but listens to music. He even tried to jump to creshendo!

awwww...... he's almost perfect, and it could've been so beautiful! such a pity! His 4lo looked like it would be right on beat if he landed it!

I think so too, but with his slender body, I wonder if he'll have enough strength to lift/throw his partner?

Btw, TJ was so funny in this gif

and here, I love his expression here, what a nice shot!

ahh thanks for the article, it shows once again that how special he is, and welcome!! :cheer:

Actually Yuzuru has the ideal body line to become an ice dancer with long limbs and long neck.

If Yuzuru became an ice dancer after 2018, the only one who I think can match his noodle line is Yuko Kawaguchi who is too old already.
Short skater like Satoko or Narumi, unfortunately is not well-matched in body line with Yuzuru.

;) I uploaded some fanart of Yuzuru yesterday and wanted to share...
Beautiful, thanks for sharing. :)

(I posted it in WTT live report and also want to share it here, hope you like it :))

OK, i think i am the most lucky person last week. I went to the event and sat at 1st row.
Very close to the rink, how close? i can clapped every skaters' hands in finale of Gala.
I can't write very detail in everything and just want to share some pieces of my memory.

1. Satoko: She is awesome in FS! this is the 3rd time i saw her in live and she is better and better. her jump is more solid. I start to enjoy her performance after WC.

2. Liza: I don't think she is in good condition, but she still try her best to deliver her program. Her 3A in FS make whole stadium excited just like I saw her 3A in SP. Can't wait to see her next season.

3. Mura: I feel touched by his performances. he did give everything he has to make contribution to the team. His FS is just touching.

4. Yuzuru: I don't know what to say. he is serious about this event from the very beginning. He want to make revenge to end this season. However, he is not so lucky(maybe?) this time and could not clean his SP. I don't know how you feel, but after SP his regret and angry mood did spread to the whole stadium. (probably because i am his fan, so i feel that) FS is perfect in everywhere except the popped 4T. However, i really admired his spirit to continue delivery his program after the mistake. He knew this is the last to perform this POTO and he tries to leave the best memory for everyone and himself. I am glad i was there to enjoy the final POTO. I went to COC for the 1st POTO and say goodbye to the final POTO in WTT.

Although I expected to see a funny side fro YUZURU in K&C but just like what i said before he is serious in whole event. What did he do when he sat in cheering zone? he studied (very seriously) other skaters' performance. here are some clips:

* in pair FS: He was very interested in how pairs did the throwing and lifting. he watched the replay very carefully and discussed with Muru and Chirst Reeds.
**in Lady's FS: After Liza finished her 3A in FS, he and Satoko's coach discussed it. he even simulated the jumps (doing some pre-jump action and turns)

I would say he just like attending a jump seminar not a happy and funny WTT.

Thank you so much for the recap. I am envy with you. :drama:

His regret and angry mood even spread to the people through live stream. Poor boy. We all know how much he wanted it clean. :hopelessness:

Wow you witnessed the first and the final POTO? such memories. :)

I have a hunch maybe he will become a tech specialist or a jump coach in the future. So we will cheer for his students.

Thank you so much Bibi for your report!! Yuzu is a sort of skating philosopher, since philosophy and math are so well connected- whose technical analysis are always very accurate and interesting, so that we can appreciate the skating technique through “his personal eyes and vision” , we can see skating from inside when he talks about it.. :)

Thanks for the report bibi1899! Re Yuzuru treating WTT as a jump seminar, we all know how he doesn't want to waste a single moment for his skating, including using P/T's music in last Worlds' gala practice. ;)

Joking aside, I have always felt that WTT was no lighthearted event for him at least for this season as he was determined to gain redemption, revenge, etc. there after Worlds. And he did. I am glad my last sight of him for this season is seeing him ecstatic at landing that quad loop at the WTT gala. After all he has been through, he deserves to have that moment. And to quote Brenda Irving in the CBC commentary of Yuzuru's 2015 Worlds SP, onward and upward! :)

OK, actually there are some cute clip in WTT.

1. He did wear the pink cat paw gloves for 5 seconds. (the cute cat paw gloves Kanako and Satoko wears in KC)

2. He danced "YMCA" (did make the movement of Y-M-C-A )with Go-Chan in ice-resurfacing time.

3. After ladies FS, when everyone was going to leave, he help clean the Japan cheering zone.( pick up the trash and put every tools into bags...)

THANKS FOR SHARING!!!! and you're really so lucky to be able to sit at the front row :)

Yuzu is so serious when i comes to figure skating, and that's what I love about him too~ (looks like he's interested in knowing more about the pairs too?)
Maybe he's preparing to coach the ladies' when he retires? (besides coaching the mens)

Oh no! I really want to see him doing the YMCA dance.... He's such a kind boy to help cleaning the cheering zone.... Thanks for sharing again~

that's one of his very unique and unconventional traits, like when he picked the bug up from the ice at Finland Throphy :points:

I think so too, but with his slender body, I wonder if he'll have enough strength to lift/throw his partner?
]
No, I doubt it.
Btw, do you guys remember, dance number of Mao with Takahiko?
Japanese single skaters are so slender.
But Joubert wasn't convinsing with Marchei either. ))

Esopian, your fanart is unique, that's cool!

bibi, thanks for sharing it!

Yes, I felt his frustration too, that was a bad day for me.
And lol at him sitting as it was jump seminar!

I saw a picture about this already, but is there a video taken of him picking up that bug from the ice? That's so lovely and adorable!~ such a kind soul (i can't find the best word to describe him now)

I don't think there's a video, unfortunately..

That's beautiful!!

Wow, it must've been such a cool experience to watch the competition live in the first row! :) I like the way you described how he might've viewed WTT as a jump seminar, hahaha (that explains why he was pretty focused throughout).
