Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Sometimes, I feel like I'm the only one who loves David Wilson's works. And yes I did love R&J 2.0. :laugh: Ah well, we can't all have the same taste, after all. ;)
Shae to do his new LP is a good idea imo. We never saw POTO to its full potential, but now we have a chance to see a full LP with, of course, different music but still great style.
But just like you all I'm hoping to see Buttle doing his new SP. :yes:

I'm hesitating to check TSL interview with Nam. I haven't forgotten how they called him "slow" and "boring to watch" not long ago. Tsk. :disapp:

I don't remember them saying he was boring to watch. I found they were always quite appreciative and supportive of him. They do say he is slow and doesn't have the same intensity as the top competitors and these are valid criticism. They actually asked him about his speed. It was quite a genuine and interesting interview. (also they talk about Yuzu just a bit and put a picture of him and Winnie at one moment lol)

I agree with you. Among the many regrets Yuzu has of this season, not being able to perform the 'full' POTO is definitely one of them. And I truly wish to see the ultimate version of it one day (maybe he'll come back to it for the Olympics, so as to definitely close a chapter and not leave things unfinished).
Plus now Shae-Lynn will really have time to get her hands on him as she said she wanted to do in TSL. So the new LP might be quite something :)

R&J2 was definitely an improvement. Although Yuzu's version of ND as an EX did show that there was much more potential in this programme than Yuzu let it show during the 12-13 season. I think he was too young at the time to give justice to it. And him not being really connected to the music didn't help.
But I don't know why although R&J2 was better and will remain special to me because that's the programme with which I saw Yuzu for he first time, something is lacking in it... POTO seemed more fitted to him for some reason.

Regarding Nam himself maybe a summary will appear on Nam's thread. Oriquey has posted what Nam mentioned when asked about Yuzu as below:

And this show seems rather "smaller" compared to the others. And two in two days isn't tiring. :yes: Moreover, they both happen in the timeline of his shows in Japan (July 11, 12). As long as it's not in August...

He really hasn't performed 4T/4S free programs cleanly at all from 2012/2013 -> 2013/2014 -> 2014/2015, so that why I disagreed with "once he performs it clean, he challenges further". I think it's more that regardless of consistency in competition, he will continue to challenge to find his own limits (which I also agree is around 2 quad SP and 3 quad LP) in time for 2018 where I absolutely do not think he'll add more content for the Olympic season, unless his best is not good enough to win and he needs the BV to challenge (which I doubt, that is a lot of content). The Olympics is the worst time to have a sloppy performance and win, let alone repeat your OGM by winning with relatively poor performances twice, so to challenge new jump content the Olympic season is... asking for trouble.

He did skate a clean 4T/4S LP at WC 2014.

I can’t read his mind. But I feel his motivation to compete is not to win (of course he wants to win), but to be able to challenge himself and improve. If he cannot challenge himself anymore, he will retire. He plans to retire after 2018 Olympics (or after 2018 world championship). So, I think he would want to perform the most difficult programs he can do by then. I assume he plans to gradually upgrade his program difficulty each season and he wants to be comfortable with the easier layout (i.e. he can skate the easier layout cleanly or close to clean, perhaps more than once) before he attempts a more difficult layout. If it requires him to upgrade difficulty at the Olympic season in order to reach his goal, I think he would do it too, especially since he lost a lot of training time this season (he didn’t upgrade his program at all this season). Of course, I don’t know this for sure and it’s just me speculating.
 
So, Hanyu-san has two more shows added for this off season. He will do one show a day on July 11th and 12th in Figure Skating Aore Nagaoka. :popcorn:

About Yuzu he also said that he is one of the skaters he currently looks up to (along with Javi) and that he feels very honored to train alongside two of the best skaters in the world. He said he learns from them everyday. And that some may see Yuzuru's 40 4S or 40 4T as a 'little bit' too much, but that's how he works and that's why he's the Olympic Champion and a World Champion.

As you can see the the gender is a bit tricky :laugh2: Few of them got close though.

LOLS!!!!! Plushy looks like 84 according to the web!!!!
And there's even a photo where they say that yuzu looked like 7 (i think that one is in 2011/2012? --> not too sure)
