There are so many music pieces named "Requiem", and it is hardly possible to identify it, or it might be brand new, I don't know.

But, if you read the texts of Requiem Mass, I think it reminds us of the disaster of 3.11.2011, especially the part "Libera me".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_for_the_Requiem_Mass#Libera_Me

"Deliver me, O Lord, from death eternal on that fearful day,
when the heavens and the earth shall be moved,
when thou shalt come to judge the world by fire.
I am made to tremble, and I fear, till the judgment be upon us, and the coming wrath,
when the heavens and the earth shall be moved.
That day, day of wrath, calamity, and misery, day of great and exceeding bitterness,
when thou shalt come to judge the world by fire.
Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord: and let light perpetual shine upon them."

The EX this time might be supposed to be a Requiem for the devastated area including his home town. Please note that this is just my assumption.

Somebody please tell me when we could see it :drama:

Yeah I was thinking about that too, it would be safer to go for the combo in the first 4T, even if the BV of the program would be slightly reduced. If the landing for the 1st quad is messy can he can't add the 2T, he can go for it in the 2nd. But then again, this is Yuzu we're talking about, when does he ever do something safely?

I believe he has a long term goal and the current layout is a stepping stone to achieve the goal. I think he wants to include three different types of quads in the LP and have a 4t combo in the second half of the program by the next Olympic. If he has three types of quads, he doesn't have a risk of losing BV of 4T if he doesn't land the jump because he is not repeating 4T, and he can add the 2t (or 3t) to his other jumps if he misses the quad combo. If he does the 4t combo in the first half in the coming season, it doesn't help him achieve his ultimate goal, even though he has less risks of losing points. I think his goal this season is to land the quad combo in the second half.

It's kind of similar to why he insists on keeping 4S in the LP. He could get more points by doing two 4T than falling on 4S, but it doesn't help him in the long run.

His decision may seem irrational in the short run, but I believe it's very rational in the long run.

Yeah, it's all aimed towards 2018, hopefully all his goals skill-wise are fulfilled by then :cheer: has he said it already that he wants to have the 4Lo in the FS by then?

Not sure if he said he would include 4Lo in the FS, but he is practicing it. So it does seem like he wants to include another type of quad in the LP eventually.

 So......are all his music selections this season going to be virtually unknowns?

I don't think he likes warhorse music. The only warhorse music he likes is POTO and he got his wish granted. The previous warhorse music was chosen by his coach and choreographer. It's more like his coach/choreographer likes warhorse music.

Now he gets to choose the music himself, we see some unusual music choices. Should I expect a surprise SP from him?

I hope so, too. And if Jeff Buttle is helping him choreograph his SP, I hope it'll increase the likelihood that the music will be something underused or totally different :)

But then again the choreographer always presents the music choices to the skater and I think the skater would usually have a choice in selecting music right? So I guess maybe Yuzuru really does like warhorses because if he didn't then wouldn't he just choose another piece of music when his choreographer presents him with a potential piece of music to skate to?

In case anyone is interested to know, first half of Saturday's show over; SEIMEI 2S, 4Tfall, 3F, 4Tfall, 3A3T

Yuzu says he looooves gold things

Yes, like Olympic gold medals. ;)

I am wondering whether this could be the music:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?autoplay=1&v=F2OEqYJ9Gho. Whatever the music though is, if it made Yuzuru cry, I think I will probably do too. He just has this great gift of communicating his feelings to his audience and making the latter experience those feelings with him.

On another note, I didn't expect to read part of the Requiem Mass in this thread. Yes I agree that the deliverance prayer there is so apposite for 3.11. In my country, our Catholic bishops call for nationwide praying of this prayer called "Oratio Imperata"
in times of calamities, natural or man-made. I am praying this now for the people of South Korea because of the MERS outbreak there.

I agree with this analysis. I think Yuzuru in his typical farsighted way of looking at things had already determined in his mind the technical content that he thinks is needed for him to win the Olympics in 2018 the same way he did for 2014.
But to quote Kurt Browning, while you can make all the grand plans you want, you have to execute them as well. So I'm praying Yuzuru will be healthy and safe and that his training goes well so he can execute his programs as planned leading and up to Pyeongchang.
