Project Runway - Season 14 - August 6, 2015 at 9-8central

Absolutely. I NEVER miss a season of Project AllStarTeamChallengeWhateverEleseThey'reCallingIt Runway. I'm glad they didn't rush into ANOTHER season--I think we all needed a break.

I would love to see Tim commenting on figure skating, and not just the costumes. Just for the heck--and class-- of it (he is one classy guy).

Me!!! So excited for it tomorrow :cheer2:

 I know what you mean!! What I love about the show is how you take fabric, a pattern/design and put it all together and you have something wonderful (hopefully).

Well I am excited for some of these new faces. I'm not too good with names after just one episode, however  But, goooo Ashley! :cheer:

One thing I must complain about- could the judges get a new critique besides 'it isn't sexy'/'where is ze sex appeal?' :rolleye: Seriously, not every article of clothing ever needs to scream 'SEX!!!!', goodness. This was getting old for me seasons ago. That must be THE most common critique.

eta: in the preview for next ep- do I spy the unconventional challenge? :drama:

I was surprised by 1 of their choices for top 3, but absolutely agreed about the other 2.
As for bottom, I wasn't surprised by 2 of the 3 bottoms and understood why they chose to let that person go.... Sigh - trying not to put any spoilers out.

^^You can always just put

Ep 1 SPOILERS

at the top of your post :)

It's never a good sign when they announce a season is FULL OF DRAHHHHHHHHHMAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And then proceed to play several minutes worth of clips to prove it. Oh Lifetime, you really do suck.

It was, however, a genuine joy to see Tim Gunn rip so many of the designers a new one. Most of them totally deserved it.

You can see the characters being shaped already: Mr Hoochie Mama, Ms Redemption ("I know I was eliminated before but THIS time will be so different!"). the New Peng (down to the "I don't listen to anyone's advice"--after they suck the Drahmah! out of her for a team challenge she'll be aufed), the self-deluded 'fashion genius' who screams Cannon Fodder (tell me the "Don't they play baseball in Madison Square Garden" line is NOT producer-scripted, and I'll tell you what you're full of :) ), the Bee-yutch ("I am not here to Make Friends; I am here to win"). Etcetera ad nauseum. I would say "Project Runway, don't ever change" but no need: it never will.

The judges got first and second totally right (I was very impressed with the winner in particular, but oh man is she going to be a weepy one). Third? Well, short, tight and shiny is guaranteed to get you enough points from Heidi to guarantee you moving on to the next challenge.

Watching Tim and Heidi play basketball was fun,

IMHO, doesn't work for everyone. Depending on screen on font size, you'd also have to put several spaces between top to post to ensure that people don't see your post. Just fairer to not put out details until at least the morning after the show airs to give West Coast people a chance to view, etc.

so, now that it's 22 1/2 hours after it started airing on the east coast....

Yes, Ashley was weepy, but hopefully this 1st win will give her confidence. So glad that she took Tim's advice and dumped the drab tan skirt and used the flowered fabric.
I was stunned by what the chatty designer produced after such a slow start - it really seemed like she had nothing during Tim's review.
The little black dress with the train was really nothing new or innovative. I thought he was in the bottom and would've been ticked if he had won the challenge. The dress seemed a little more interesting between when Tim critiqued and the actual runway show - it seemed like he did something on the shoulder down the back vs a train and then switched to the train.

I wasn't surprised by the guy being eliminated when he said he didn't know who he was a designer and I didn't get why Tim liked it during his workshop critique.

Challenge was particularly new - same challenge different setting. During season 4, I think they had to run towards bolts of cloth and I remember Chris March being glad that no one grabbed the one he wanted before he could get to it.

I also loved Merline's design. Now, she would drive me a little crazy but loved her design.

LOL - I agree. I'm sure there's going to be some DRAMMMAAAA around her chattiness , especially as the designers get more tired.

Also agree. But I prefer her kind of crazy to Elena's crazy

I know what you mean. Do you remember Kenley Collins in Season 5?? She was really mean. She called out Heidi and I think most of the judges. She called one of the other designer names because they didn't sell her look. Kenley designed for Leanne (Hip hop music). Kenley didn't understand that her design wasn't that great and not because Leanne wasn't selling the look. She was also arrested for assaulting her boyfriend.

I remember seeing Kenley in a (more) recent project runway all star. IIRC she might have been one of the finalists as well. I remember her corky hairstyles.

Really late thoughts on ep 2:

Has there ever been another unconventional challenge where the designers were limited to such similar materials? Also I believe Heidi said 'first' unconventional challenge + the description on tv said the same. I recall a clip of them rummaging through garbage/dumpsters in the season preview. So we've got a second UC to look forward to? :)

I can't believe Amanda was in the bottom two. Her skirt was bad, but not as bad as some of the other entire looks & her top was nice enough. As soon as I saw it walking I thought 'that would look much better if she took some scissors to the skirt loops & snipped them open'. Still not amazing, but perhaps she would have avoided being in the bottom.

Yes, she was on an all star season. She seemed to have calmed down quite a bit. She was a good designer but on Season 5, she was called out for same looks as some of the great designers, McQueen, etc.
