2015 Skate Canada Mens Free Skate

Honestly, I've found your posts really insightful about why you think Patrick's score was too high. For you it comes down to quantity v. quality, and you think that quality shouldn't trump quantity to such a degree. It shocked and surprised me when I saw Patrick's TES for the same reason...but I think part of that was because last season with Yuzu and Denis was very, very much about quantity. Anyway, I can definitely see your perspective on the scores.

Thanks :) And yes, the way the last season went (and the rightful complaints about skaters winning with visible mistakes) might have made a difference too. It's going to be interesting to see how Fernandez and DTen (when he's hopefully healthy again) will keep up. SA and SC have definitely made me even more excited for the men's field this year

I think your number is based on the Base Value while Cleo's number is based on the TES (Base Value + GOE) ?? Or is this a sarcastic question? I think I need sleep since I can't tell the difference anymore

Sabrina is evidently trolling. :dumb:

C'mon, Sabrina. You know darned well that you gave the base numbers. But that's not what counts in the actual scoring (hint: GOE, bonus points). Nice try, though.

Cleo I was only talking about TES! TES+GOE is a quite different beast. So, nice try Cleo!

Not with a fall.

I just rewatched his performance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxgo-xhLwf8

Nam doesn't have the balletic qualities to pull of that music. That doesn't mean he has weak presentation skills. In the last section of his skate at around 3:40 he is clearly giving it his all, emoting out the wazoo, and actually HOLDING his positions (that ina bauer). Everything is done forcefully on the right beat of music. He couldn't have done more with the body and the skills he has right now.

Actually, that is the part I think he made me cringe and revealed his immaturity. His emotion or connection to the music is not throughout, but in a few choreographed sections where/when he was told. He is gorgeous in some parts, but not overall. I was curious where Nam would be placed in this field (Dice, Adam, Michal). I think his technical consistency is not a concern. Maybe upping his performance abilities (i.e. pick a music he likes and be more intuitive and responsive to that) can motivate him better? JMO.
I just don't want him to think he is an any lesser skater and bangs his head against a wall thinking he's done everything he could. Sky is the limit and he has just not found his style yet!

I just watched his lp at the 2014 junior world(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB2O-JV-eKo). He was so fragile as Elizabet. OMG! He grew up so much and is improving faster than anyone else. GO Nam!!

Great job by all the men for delivering at least one program that they could/should be proud of.

Very satisfied with the podium~
Gorgeous skating from Patrick
Great fight from Yuzuru
Two nice and passionate programs from Dice

Congratulations to the medalist!

another piece by Bach... maybe he does love bach... you never know... i actually connected with his performance tonight and thought he was musically expressive

4everchan, you got your 1000 posts and more tonight. No need to help someone else raise their post count in a hurry aka trolling as called by Cleo.

Congrats for the podium finishers!
After the short programs, I didn't really have high hope for tonight, but surprisingly there were so many great programs.

Patrick, welcome back! :D Knowing Patrick, I know this one clean performance doesn't really guarantee anything in the future, but still it's very nice to see a clean program from him. :gclap:
Hanyu, wow, his jumps are just.... wow. They are from another world. However, I don't quite like his LP. Maybe because his jump contents are so ambitious? the rest of the program kinda felt... um... like energy saving mode. But I like his costume. :)
And Daisuke, after Patrick's performance I totally forgot there was one more guy left, and then he came and delivered. Wow. Great job! Honestly I thought he was gonna go 2nd place. But he was slower than those other two so I guess it played a role.

Overall very great event. :gclap:
