I've seen Nam and I'm not satisfied.
His quads are big, I have to give him that, but the technique on his other jumps is questinable. Prerotation overload and his landing are not stable. Also, am I the only one who thought Nam was afully slow? I almost thought he would stop sometimes. The music is overrpowering him and it has no clear message. On the other hand, I don't mind his shirt.

I saw the TES box, it just seems to me that Dice was underscored on PCS. That skate deserved more than 82.
I had an impression that his speed improved. His slowness used to glaring but I thought it wasn't so bad here. He certainly has a lot to work on, that PCS mark reflected it. I didn'd find him overpowered by music this time, unlike at AC, I thought he sold it. The message... lol, I didn't see a message in Patrick's or Dice's programs either but that's not something I require from a skate so it's OK.

To be fair, give Dice the same PCS as Yuzuru and he would still place 3rd. Not to mention Yuzuru has way better SS than Dice.
That's what I'm telling myself, but maybe Dice wouldn'd have looked so disappointed if he had gotten a 6 points higher score... Plus what if he needs a tie-breaker?

When I read the thread, I thought Patrick really brought something special, but, well, I didn't feel it.
However, his quad is sooooo huge! I almost thought he was going to jump out of the rink! And his triple Axel was fine. HisnSSbare betterbthan ever! He generates speed so easily, his edges are deeper than ever and few two foo skating. Nevertheless, I wasn't that impresed with the choreo. It is a well constructed program and it suit Patrick, but in my opinion, it lacked excitement and real climax... Personally, I wouldn't give him 10 in any segment, maybe only SS.

I agree but then I've always felt this way about his skating. I found all the guys in the group except Petrov more engaging, even, dare I say it, Nam. But credit where credit's due, it was an incredibly smooth nearly flawless skate.

I just watched some videos and I'm really happy for Patrick. It was a brillant skate, the choreography reflected perfectly the music, matched to each note. It was a joy to watch him skate :
. I also liked Yuzu's and Daisuke's skates. It's going to be a very exciting season. At some point Adam will land his 4Lutz fully rotated ...
Hopefully, I will have time to watch. Today was the first day this season I could find some time to watch videos, at least (work was consuming most of my time until now, rest: sleep and eat)

Yes. No matter how hard I try to like him, for me there is a key element missing from Chan's skating. When it comes to Hanyu and Javier Fernandez, for example, there is something about their performances which touch my soul. I even felt it with Dolensky's FP in this event because it was so superb - also Murakami, who was so fabulous. Chan just leaves me cold and I can't really explain it.
Of course not jump-wise, but by the time he was 16/17 (even earlier probably) everyone was talking and raving about the Chan kid with the most amazing skating skills. Not taking anything away from Hanyu, he is special in his own right for sure.

I teared up at Hanyu's and Chan's skates.
I was extremely impressed by Rippon's, and Murakami did great with fantastic jumps even though his program and choreography weren't as intricate and he visibly tires towards the end. Still what a performance.

Hanyu's quads and axels are insane, but Patrick's skating moves me to tears....its quality is sublime, I'm speechless.

No one is good as Takahashi... not even mini Takahashi Shoma. In a few more years may be.I don't get those who picked on Chan's PCS but I suppose to be expected. In my humble opinion the gap should be much wider. Before going crazy, are you telling me Chan is not at least 10%+ better performed than Hanyu on the day in terms of performance/choreography/interpretation/skating skills/Transition? If so then the gap should be wider.

No, not with Hanyu's way more difficult layout. Had Patrick accomplished the same with 3 quads and 2 3As then yes. As it stands, the gap is right given Hanyu's mistakes, although I would have given him a point or two more for more original choreo and more emotion.
No, not really. Takahashi's skating had a certain crazy abandon that differentiated him from the others, I'm not seeing that in Murakami.

This is why I prefer men's FS to the ladies', Hollywood looks, dramatic acting/story telling, sparkly costumes, and up, up, up goes those PCS.
