Absolutely, he can still gain a few places in the freeJust a shame for him that his bad day was the same as day as Yuzuru's 'Yuzuru' day.
)Well, I think Yuzu is now in a skating mood that everyday can be 'Yuzuru' day. But maybe this (and the adding of quads) is related to what happened in SC. I know everyone talks about Boyang, but imo Patrick's comeback brought even more motivation for Yuzu (if he ever needed more motivation)
Hanyu almost seems like how Michael Jordan was back in the day. Despite being superior to every basketball player on the planet he always found something to push him even more which made him even more dominate. Just goes to show you champions don't relax even if they are only competing against themselves.

After the GPF SP, Chan is in 6th place, 40.34 points behind Hanyu, 20.91 points behind Fernandez, 16.34 points behind Jin, and 15.86 points behind Uno.
Let's not. Chan had a really off day today and it's not fair to compare him to others.
-He had a Yuzu Skate Canada moment, but like at Canada, he can bring it back in the free...he could even go for a podium spot if he's perfect and the others aren't.

.... i am wondering what happened with his spin, which cost him another 4 points or so... that is more worrying than the rest for me... was he really disturbed by realizing after the fact that he had just killed his lutz combo???? was he tired? is he sick? Why do people keep saying the Zayak rule is what got Patrick? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the rule that invalidated Chan's 3Lutz/3Toe is not the same rule as the "Zayak" rule but rather rules made regarding the short program requirements. Repeating a jump element simply wasn't/isn't allowed for reasons not Zayak-related.

I felt the same. "Zayak Rule" only states that only two types of triple or quadruple jumps may be attempted twice in a program, and if a type is repeated, one of the attempts must be in combination or in a sequence. But I don't know what the "no repeating the same jump element in the Short unless they are in a combination" rule is called![]()
When it happened earlier this season with Yuzuru, I read people just said it was invalidated. If they gave a reason they would just add "for repeating a triple in two separate passes the SP" or some variation thereof. I guess saying Zayak would be easier, if not as accurate.
