I think Evegnia is exquisite. That being said, I think B.Esp went overboard in declaring her "greatest female skater everrr".
and so? Mao was the only lady to do a 3A, but this can't make you the best skater, you have to skate clean anyway.
It really does! The overscoring of both Russian Ladies- Elena overall and Med for PCS. Wow.
Insulting people for their opinions is always a classy and mature route to take. I like Evgenia, but I stand behind not liking the construction of her program (the tanos make no difference to me). I fully understand that it is more difficult to put the jumps in the second half, and she deserves to be rewarded for that, but the first half of her program is so empty and ill contstructed that its distracting and aestically unpleasant.
I wasn't saying Gracie was the best skater today, was I? I was referring to your accusation that somehow Gracie is inferior because she can "barely" do a 3Lutz-3T.
Well let's see. Both Lip and Sakhanovich encountered disaster and left her recently. So then there's 2 skaters who haven't encountered puberty yet. While Medvedeva might survive because she's awesome, I believe it'd be more -despite- Tutberidze than -thanks to- her.
How the hell is that empty? Switching spins/steps with jumps does not empty make. :disagree:
Well if you were actually listening they said that she "could" be the greatest female skater ever.
Here at the GPF was just awful.
, her jumps are fine, it's her nerves and stiff programs that hold her backHow the hell is that empty? Switching spins/steps with jumps does not empty make. :disagree:
I cant with these posters crying about Satoko's 3Fe. Watch the replay and she changes her edge quickly. But i agree she should be closer to Mao and Rad's score. Cant help to compare but Ashley looks so out of place with this group. She is like a second tier skater
That's a pretty harsh assessment of Eteri. She's coached many students to the top levels of the sport. And coaching many of them at the same time. IMO, she's the female counterpart to Brian Orser in terms of number of students she takes on who make it to the highest levels of the sport - in both men (Voronov/Pitkeev) and ladies (Lipnitskaia/Sakhanovich/Medvedeva/Tsurkaya).
Her two students - Medvedeva and Tsurkaya - could be the gold Senior AND Junior medalists at this year's GPF. Last year, she was the only coach with skaters in both men and ladies at the GPF - one of whom won the bronze medal (Voronov). So as much as people want to slam her for teaching technique that might not last beyond puberty, at least she's taking her kids to the top of the sport at SOME point, whereas the vast majority of coaches' students don't even experience a fraction of the success of Eteri's students.

My accusation is that Gracie can land just one 3-3 combo.
That "barely" was referring to her inconsistency.
Actually Tsurksya has one of the best jumps among the current ladies field both junior and senior. So high, so powerful, great technique. And so has Pitkeev.
I actually think she only has one spin in the first half. This could be a difference of opinion on the choreography, which as stated I personally find empty, if you don't that's great. This program just doesn't work for me. My main point here was that we all have different opinions (and in some cases rooting interests) doesn't necessarily make anyone's more or less legitimate, and certainly no one should be attacked over it.

Let me amend my original statement, B.esp STILL went overboard declaring that Evegnia COULD be greatest female skater ever. I get that they can throw all the hyperboles at Hanyu, but it's way too early to call it on Evegnia.
