Interesting that jumping well at the Broadmoor Open / Freezer Aerial Challenge was directly responsible for Camden's accelerated move from novice to junior.

Mini-excerpt:
“I planned on doing novice this year because I didn’t make Nationals last year as a novice,” Camden said. “Why would I move up to junior? I was doing a jump event for juniors, and the winner got $500 and a chance to jump in the senior event, which is all of the great people, so somehow I won the junior and competed in the seniors. I was a novice man competing in senior, one of the youngest guys out there, so scared. Once that happened, I was approached by U.S. Figure Skating about moving up to juniors.”​

thanks golden!!! ahhh how i wish to see him at Worlds i am glad 2018 Olympics is his aim i was scared that he might quit since field is getting deeper every year, now please show the same determination at nationals!!!

This is what I wanted to pursue and perform, and now that I'm older and I know what I want, pursuing a program that's more balletic is actually something that's true to me. It may not look like it, you know, but this is something I love and enjoy, and that part, that's what I wanted to bring out this season.

I really hope that we have great performances at U.S. Nationals. It took me awhile to recover from the "Disaster in Dallas" in 2003.

In a nutshell, all the men in the final flight fell at least once. If I got any of the below wrong, please correct me.

1) Starting off - Johnny Weir - who was in 2nd after the SP - crashed into the boards, got up and tried to restart his program. He ended up withdrawing after it was obvious that he was too injured too continue.
2) Michael Weiss, who won his last national title, did so without landing a triple axle and also falling on at least quad in his LP. I also think he didn't land a triple axle in the SP, either. He basically won this national title by survival.
3) Tim Goebel, who was in 1st after the SPt, ended up finishing 2nd after not landing a quad and splatting on two jumps. It was very obvious that Frank must had kicked his tail before Worlds two months later.
4) One (tiny) highlight was that Ryan Jahnke managed to pull from 6th to 3rd place by pure survival.

I expect the men competing will feel an additional boost of inspiration. It is unique opportunities such as this year's Nationals ... where the door to podium spots has opened unexpectedly wider, that true competitors step up their game and capitalize. Going to be exciting.

I agree with this statement completely. Although Ricky was not a medal pick in my eyes. There's no doubt that his absence will relieve the pressure from some of the mid range contenders. I'm still looking at Max, Nathan, and Ross to get on the podium. From there, I look for Alex, Grant, and that good spinner who's name I always forget. There is still plenty of excitement to be had and though it's a disappointment, things are still going to be exciting. BTW, the good spinner I was thinking about is Timothy Dolensky.

Damn the talent level for the Men's competition has really took a hit with no Jason,Josh, Dornbush and also Jeremy basically retired now.
