2016 US Nationals Senior Ladies SP

Wow, some really rough skates by people who were podium contenders...

On the bright side, Mirai's chances just improved

Both Karen and Vivian's problem is they jump too high and cannot control the landing. :bang:They should learn something from Satoko's jumps.

Looks like Gracie and Ashley will be able to finish 1-2 even if they skate on their butts for a full 3 minutes after what we've seen so far.

Lack of combo means one of the jumps will only be at 70%(?) base value.

No, she will get credit for it. She just won't get the credit for her second jump (triple toe usually) because she didn't do it.

I could have sworn that you don't get credit for one of them when they have to be in combo, and niether was done in combo. I also could have sworn that I saw a 0.00 for the Loop.

No Karne, Just No! There's not a Coach on this planet who sends their US National Champion and Olympian to Nationals in OLD BOOTS. It Doesn't Happen!!!

Cute, modest dress on Mieskoski. Bright red, back and long bell sleeves in red illusion mesh., Faberge pattern on the bodice with silver blue rhinestones and a 'brooch' at the end of a shallow v neck.

Nope. You do get credit for both jumps. On the protocol it will be written 3Lz+COMBO and 3Lo, both with a BV and GOE. There's just no 3T anywhere because she didn't do it on any jump.

repeating what i put in another thread..Probably going to be very unpopular, but after watching the intermediate, novice, junior feeds and now the senior ladies - the state and future of the U.S program is not inspiring. I found very few "wow" skaters. Most seems to be churning trough the program with gritted teeth and false smiles. There is only one skater tonight - mariah bell who actually looks like she is enjoying herself... maybe also Heidi Munger.
For a country that has money, ice rinks and an abdundance of ambition, we are floundering on the world scene.

Thoughts?

actually it does happen. Alot. The problem is that boots take time to break in... and i was scoffed at for asking if skaters use two pairs as they want to get very used that exact broken in pair. Rumors float around of newer boots that are easier to break in, but that is beyond me.

How 'bout Michelle at 2001 Worlds qualifying round when her heel detached from the boot in warmup on a double axel? She had to abandon the warmup at that point and still went out and produced a 7-triple long program.

Anyway, I've always been a huge Mirai fan since her win in juniors back in 2007, but she just doesn't have the same spark. I don't like her music here, but I don't think there's any music that's going to make her just magically turn on. She just looks bored when she is skating. She's older now of course so it will have transformed, but she needs to have the energy she had with her Carmen free program in 2010. Either way I think she's really a great skater and I always find things I enjoy about her programs even if she skates poorly.

Ugh Karen :sad4: Hope she can skate better in the free.
