2026 U.S.Nationals Senior Women Short Program

I have no bias between these three women. They each have unique strengths and weaknesses, which is precisely why I feel that their scores should reflect how they perform the day of. Yes, Alysa has some technical advantage, but that should be made up for by Levito’s superior artistry. “Hype” PCS, as you later put it, may be the nature of the beast, but it is also fair to characterize it, as I did, as resulting in overscoring.
if you can claim that Alysa is overscore then all the lady are overscore.. Artistry is in the eye of the beholder.

What a fantastic final group! That being said, not completely sold on Alyssa's Gaga program yet. As J&T said, it needs to bake a bit more. Our ladies are well positioned for the Olympics!

Solid performances by all and especially the top 6.
All three could win or medal or off depending on how they skate, scored, and how others skate and are scored.
But they are very strong medal contenders without help from other skaters mistakes.

Amber great skate. Improving skate nerves wise. She doesn't get as much flustered. She still need to work out kinks. But keep up.

Alysa had nothing to lose by the Lady Gaga program. She showed confidence in her skating abilities by doing a debuting a different program at nationals
What worse placement She would have received if messed up.
Lol she did make mistakes. Her score debut a 147 with a 1st 2nd 3rd from judges. Her promise program did all year whatvwould Her score be.
She had nothing to lose in free skate especially after the short. The judges basically said ur going to olympic like amber.
The U.S. doesn't give out 80's in women's short program.alot of 70's but few 80's. After the short most people knew amber and alysa will be named. If fact more shocked if not named.

Isabeau did exquisite two programs.
She did well. The talk now is the third spot is up in air until free skate. But still may not be Named. Bradie would be the only one that would unseat her
Isabeau skated great improvement on jumps and even her combo. Receive a 1st , 2nd 3rd from judges
It seem the judges had more of a hard time picking the winner than who be on the team.
Isabeau has the PCS and TES to contend. She is ready and easy on the eyes. Her camp picks music suited for her. She does float across the ice.

Bradie is a tenacious skater. She showed mass improvement from the beginning of the year. She skated like she belongs
To this olympics. She skated like her dream.

Sarah despite flailing arm She skated well.
She stays in She part of future. She is goid

Sophia is future. She is bright, gutsy and needs time to develop her musicality.

Starr show why she belongs. She will be missed. She brings joy and hope to her skating.

Sherry I surprised how strong shevskated.she stays in. She has bright future.

Emily a wonderful skate. A wonderful skater cant wait to see how she develops.
The U.S has many youthful talented skaters i years to come
As Hagen Chase, Shen, Jurka and the junior skater jump to senior and mature

The if is If they stay in.
They are a talented group

The u.s. I dont remember had such talented skater from 1st to 18th and anyone could place in top 6

Then why bother scoring it at all? I'm allowed to have a view of whether scores were problematically inflated, whether or not you agree with it. And my opinion is that what you yourself described as "hype" scoring in the SP made the difference between Levito and Liu's overall placement in this competition. Each skater and each program should always be assessed on their own merit.

Guess you should apply for judge position so you can make your point about who is more artistic....

I'm also allowed to have and express opinions on the sport and artistry without being a judge, even if you don't like them. It's the entire point of this discussion board.

It’s “all those commercials” that pay for the broadcast. Same as with anything else that’s on TV.
THIS! I too wasn't happy with all of the commercials, especially as they kept interrupting the scores but let's keep it real. Advertisers are what's paying for all of this coverage. A tale as old as the history of entertainment before and after the invention of electricity and all that followed i.e. radio, film, television. right down to streaming in the current age. I also understand all of the griping about the advertisements from multiple sponsors around the rink. Be grateful that those (relatively few) sponsors care enough about a niche sport like figure skating to put down big bucks for it. Be especially grateful of the even fewer sponsors that give endorsements to our relatively small group of stars in the sport. Figure Skating unfortunately doesn't have the worldwide appeal (and monstrous loads of money) that sports like tennis, soccer/football, or the American ball games have. Skaters certainly don't get the endorsements that tennis or other sports stars get.

Back OT, thank you everyone for PBP! I'm still catching up here and elsewhere! I couldn't get off of work and family commitments like I could during the GP season!

I was THRILLED for Alysa, Amber, and Isabeau! They've left no question who the top 3 ladies for Team USA are!

I especially love that Alysa did her best 3L-3R yet! Amber hit it out of the park and Isabeau showed she's no fragile ice princess out there! She was ethereal but also tough as nails!

I disagree with those who say that Alysa (and Amber?) wouldn't get these scores internationally. Alysa was scoring 75+ last year WITHOUT a backloaded combo, never mind that she's now upgraded her previously front loaded 3F-3T to a much harder backloaded combo! Even with Qs and URs called over the past year Alysa was scoring in the mid-70 range on average. With a fully rotated 3L-3R combo in the bonus and plus GOE on everything she absolutely could get into the upper 70s and low 80s! And if she eventually adds a consistent 3A to her SP she for sure will go 80+! Judges tend to give higher PCS with successful Ultra C elements. And am I misremembering or didn't Amber receive an 80 or near 80 in her SP during one of her international competitions??

I wasn’t on this Forum during Nationals, so I am just now reading the comments from the short programs and after scrolling backward and forward, I didn’t see a single post immediately following Isabeau’s short program! Even with maybe a domestic boost, I believe it was her best performance of it so far this season and it was reflected in her score. I think she really has improved the performance aspect of her skating probably due to performing in shows the past couple of off-seasons!
