if you can claim that Alysa is overscore then all the lady are overscore.. Artistry is in the eye of the beholder.I have no bias between these three women. They each have unique strengths and weaknesses, which is precisely why I feel that their scores should reflect how they perform the day of. Yes, Alysa has some technical advantage, but that should be made up for by Levito’s superior artistry. “Hype” PCS, as you later put it, may be the nature of the beast, but it is also fair to characterize it, as I did, as resulting in overscoring.
The ads are because it's the TV broadcast? Unfortunately.I paid for Peacock without ads during the last Winter Olympics. Peacock stated there would be some ads. They went straight to ads following each skate just like NBC, with few replays.
Then why bother scoring it at all? I'm allowed to have a view of whether scores were problematically inflated, whether or not you agree with it. And my opinion is that what you yourself described as "hype" scoring in the SP made the difference between Levito and Liu's overall placement in this competition. Each skater and each program should always be assessed on their own merit.if you can claim that Alysa is overscore then all the lady are overscore.. Artistry is in the eye of the beholder.
Guess you should apply for judge position so you can make your point about who is more artistic....Then why bother scoring it at all? I'm also allowed to have and express opinions on the sport and artistry without being a judge, even if you don't like them. It's the entire point of this discussion board.Guess you should apply for judge position so you can make your point about who is more artistic....
THIS! I too wasn't happy with all of the commercials, especially as they kept interrupting the scores but let's keep it real. Advertisers are what's paying for all of this coverage. A tale as old as the history of entertainment before and after the invention of electricity and all that followed i.e. radio, film, television. right down to streaming in the current age. I also understand all of the griping about the advertisements from multiple sponsors around the rink. Be grateful that those (relatively few) sponsors care enough about a niche sport like figure skating to put down big bucks for it. Be especially grateful of the even fewer sponsors that give endorsements to our relatively small group of stars in the sport. Figure Skating unfortunately doesn't have the worldwide appeal (and monstrous loads of money) that sports like tennis, soccer/football, or the American ball games have. Skaters certainly don't get the endorsements that tennis or other sports stars get. It’s “all those commercials” that pay for the broadcast. Same as with anything else that’s on TV.
