2016 World Championships Ladies SP

I love Elena, and the way she fights through her transitioning season is nothing but admirable. That said for me she didn't radiate the happiness and passion I usually see in her performance.

I really wish she will be able to come back stronger next season. With better programs. She probably skates to the music she likes but that is not always the best. Sometimes I think the allowing of lyrics wasn't the most clever.

I'm prepared too :) Also, I don't mind American winning title, good for them (but I'd prefer Ashley over Gracie). But overscoring will end after this event & next season there will be a lot of dissapointment from US media again.

I thought Lena was a little underscored and Anna too, she should be closer to Gracie, but she's not American... I like Japanese, all three of them, but panel was lenient on Satoko all season. Someone had to call that UR at one point, her jumps are not great, and she won't fix them thinking everything is ok. I love everything else from her performance though and I wouldn't mind if her PCS were slightly higher :)

Still drunk from happiness that Anna did so great! :yahoo:
yep Ash winning would make me more than happy:biggrin:

I dont think overscoring will end tho. As a WC she will have the right to have this bonus & she had high marks with flawed skates & imagine what will be with a title!:(

& I was pleasantly surprised with Satoko judging even tho I like her:slink:

Generally Im not sad about the scoring. Hope everyone skates great in the FS.

Never been a fan of Anna but she deserved this with such a skate. She should have been happier in the K&C tho!!

i cant wait for the day when Elizabet grows taller and people will talk about other thing than "ohh she looks 12, no no actually 10, or even 9, her face looks old but her body says otherwise" and notice other amazing qualities she has :luv17: i said it before, i will say it again (and again and again!) i think she is destined for great step sequences!! she rocked that program :hap57: and her jumps looks getting bigger to me

and crowd seemed to enjoyed it too! loud cheer she got after her combo and 2A was obvious even on livestream, and that little shimmy made the old couple smile

Was Elizabet the actress in this movie?

Sophie's choice: Watch Ashley and Gracie or get into the restaurant and subway before others.
I remembered my friend who left the JLO concert we attended before the end because she was afraid there would be too long a queue to the cloakroom:laugh:

She has no room to comment on this considering the horrible audience response for anyone but a russian at Sochi. Just sayin'

She did not condemend it, she stated the fact and actually pointed out that it understandable to support their own.

Ladies SP last night was awsome! all top 6 above 70 points, and the beautiful headcases really rised to the occasion. I still think Medvedeva will win it, but great to see such fierce competition. I hope the LP will be just as good, and I really want Ashley somewhere on the podium.

And even if she condemned it... Well, americans condemned sochi audience, so like, sochi audience can condemn americans =P

I totally agree that the performances of Medvedeva and Radionova were mediocre. I was really surprised especially with Medvedeva. I was looking forward to her performance; but I think she was thrown off after missing her opening combo. The audience cheered for their jumps but their performances were not special. Anna on the other hand had a great program and I think she should have been scored higher. There were many people in my section that gave her a standing O.

Boston audience is really good.
even after Gracie, for Anna, majority of the crowd did NOT leave at all, they all sit down and be quiet (very quickly) for Anna's performance, and gave her loud cheer! SO or not, I cannot remember.

Boston WC so far has been fantastic.
from opening ceremony to lady's FD medal ceremony now.

Oh come on, Evgenia is the star of this season, her medals speaks for herself but apparenty not in Boston.

At the end i'm not even surprised with this: just look every year Skate America (i wouldn't say Rostelecom Cup just because Gracie and Ashley don't even try to go there) and the way the russians are treated there.

Last year was particularly hilarious, the crowd completely silent for Liza and Elena, the best skaters of last season, they didn't even appreciate Elena's tribute to Michelle Kwan in her LP.

It happens in Russia too, that's why to me the best location for a WC is Japan or China: they have their home-country favourites of course but they appreciates good figure skating, no matter where the skater comes from.

Good grief. The condemnation of the crowd most of which is from people not even here is ridiculous. Firstly, a fair few people left but it wasn't before anyone skated. It was before Anna's scores and it wasn't because of any deep, dark motive about Russians. They were just trying to get to the subway early so they could get on a train easier. Rude? Maybe. The worst thing I've ever seen? No. And, tbh, the crush coming out of the arena is difficult for some so some may have real reasons why they go slightly early.

Secondly, the crowd clapped loudly and shouted for many skaters and clapped politely and appreciatively for all. Did everyone get a SO in the last group? No. But then, tbh, I didn't think all deserved it. Medvedeva was good but not great as was Radionova. Still some people did stand to cheer and not all were Russian fans before anyone tries that. Pogorilaya got a partial SO because she was much more engaging and clearly clean with good jumps. Gold got a SO for many obvious reasons. Satoko got a partial SO as the performance was very engaging and the crowd were woahing the flirty bits of Choreo. As I said in the ID thread, the cheering has been there for all but the cheers for the US team is sooooo loud that maybe it seems that for others it is quiet in comparison for some of you? However, people leapt to their feet for P/C because they were wowed. Many did for Anna because they were wowed. Maybe most just weren't wowed by Evgenia or Elena?

I too understand that its more than OK to support their own
I wouldnt condemn any audience:confused2: Its only natural
& I totally get this audience liking the style of Gold & Wagner more than our girls.
Just like I find Gold robotic & dull some american person may find Zhenia robotic & dull & not willing to clap for her.
Its great that we dont think the same!

And even if she condemned it... Well, americans condemned sochi audience, so like, sochi audience can condemn americans =P
yep its not a 1 way street.

In earlier events Evgenia skated great. So far in this competition other stars have shown brighter. That's all. Let's see what happens in the long program.

I think Barcelona is the best. Japan is great, but I would not think so about China (remembering Denis's Ten music mess-up last year).

Gold medalist at GPF, Russian Nationals and Europeans (two months ago), she won everything this season.

Really not understanding all the hoopla around the crowd's reaction, bringing Sochi into this etc. Several posters who were there including myself pointed out that the crowded reacted warmly to everyone. Had Anna not skated last she would've gotten a full standing O instead of partial. No one chanted "U.S.A," no booing, hollering or any sort of adverse reaction to a skater. Did we stand up for everyone that seemed visibly clean? Nope. Can't speak for others but I just didn't find Evgenia or Elena engaging. Maybe their star quality came across better on tv. Also, not everyone in the arena is a hard core skating fan. There are many casual fans and locals who may feel more inclined to support American skaters. That's natural. I was sitting next to a little girl who was waiting for hours to toss a flower to gracie. Who would've thought?! The american girls may not have done much on the international stage lately but they probably mean something to young skaters here.

The audience here is not Japan level but we have been polite to pretty much everyone (minus the exodus post kovtun's SP. That was just rude and embarassing to see). Won't compare the audience reaction here to Spain cuz GPFs are much shorter events and longer FS can get pretty tiring to watch.
