2016 World Championships Ladies Free Skate

:rolleye:

She has some of the best SS of the current ladies. Speed, speed, speed. Lots of ice coverage, which means she skates big. It makes an impact on a live audience but probably less noticeable on tv. And she has great choreography/programs this season. Even if they're not tailored to your individual taste, they're very difficult, complex, and go well with the music. She executes the choreography well, even if she isn't the most musical skater.

I love following competition threads, but tbh it would be nice if there was a competition thread where sarcastic hating isn't allowed. It ruins the enjoyment of getting to watch along with other fans when they're unable to be respectful.

I agree and wish the hating comments would stop.
Considering Gracie's career wide inconsistency when nervous and can't deal with pressure I don't get why folks think the fix is in.
I'm an American and am hugely nervous for the Americans who could easily have a difficult time tonight. What pressure they are under to skate clean when they often have problems going clean.
I also am a fan of all 3 Russians and respect them for their strengths. I would love to see Anna go clean and take the gold.

Please lets stop, what is really USA bashing using the American ladies as a way to bash America. At least I think that's what's going on??
Even when I was bashing Sochi, my intent was to complain about the judging not Russia.

I come into this forum as a way to keep up with skating since it's decline on US TV and to celebrate this fabulous sport.
Can we just be positive for all skaters?
Can we bash the judging system, especially the PCS which are handed out simply because a skaters TES is good?

Can we talk about how we all wish and hope the judging will be fair?
Can we talk about the weather in our different countries or the struggles we have being able to watch skating?

Wouldn't that make for a more enjoyable experience here rather than digressing to such negative conversations about skaters and countries?
Used to be we would offer everyone wine and cookies and enjoy each others company! :points::hb::coffee::giveup:

My hopes are:

1. A U.S. lady takes the gold! :cheer: I like both Gracie and Ashley so I don't mind whoever of the two it goes to. And I hope the other American of the two would place somewhere on the podium as well.
2. Fair judging and fair SCORES. Seems like some people only thought about the placements of the SP, and not much about the actual scores themselves. There were more skaters than just Gracie overscored in the SP, and I hope the judges won't get overly crazy like that again.
3. Anna has a good chance for podium. I love her Scheherazade FS so I hope she has a clean performance and becomes the surprise podium placer!
4. Gabby, Zijun, Satoko, Lena, and Mirai to stay in the top 10 with good skates! (I know Zijun is not in top 10 but whatever) :cheer2:
5. Enjoyable Riverdance performance from Rika! (and staying in the top 10 too)
6. MOST IMPORTANT ONE: Comeback for Mao, Alaine and So Youn! Mao and So Youn are the top of my favourites who are in this competition, so I really want them both to skate cleanly here - Mao so that she finishes with a high placement, and So Youn so that she finishes at least in the top 12 and gets 2 GPs for next year. And Alaine, because I feel that the international audience needs to now how great her GWTW FS is!

I'm so excited for this segment! So many skaters I love to watch here!

1. I have a feeling Grace or Ashley could win the gold in Boston. I prefer Gracie's programs this season and she is in lead...so it would be good if she won.
2. I cheer for Anna Pogorilaya. I watched her at the Europeans in Slovakia and her skating is sooo good, she has a beautiful presence on the ice and when she is on fire, she is incredible!! I also love her Scheherazade program a lot. If she could skate it like she did at Nationals then I'd be so happy!
3. I have a sense that Medvedeva will have mistake(s). The pressure is still very high on her, even if Anna is 2nd now, everyone excepts good performance from her. And because not a single Russian has won a medal so far, every eyes are on this young girl. They don't even except a medal but a gold.
4. I think Radionova and Miyahara will skate nice programs, it depends on the other competitiors if they can medal though. I also hope that Rika skates good: I LOVE her Riverdance LP, so special!
5. I will cheer for and So Youn a lot. Zijun skated a beautiful SP and I hope she can skate well in her LP. So Youn should finish in the Top12 in order to get 2 spots for Korea next year. :)
6. I really really really want Mao to skate her best. Her two programs of sthis season are so magical: her SP is laid-back and fun with brilliant presentation, her LP is toching and emotional. If she skates her Madame Butterfly then I am sure I will cry so hard :sad4: I think her Madame Butterfly is my fav LP of her since...2006/2007 season

I go to sleep soon but I will rewatch the cometition tomorrow morning, after I wake up.

I wish tons of clean programs, excitement and drama today :)
And have fun to everyone here who will watch it live.:agree:

I take nothing for granted: US ladies historically are epic at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

That said, US Pairs today incurred the wrath of the Skate Gods, so it is only the yin and yang of life that they shall smile upon US ladies. :)

And I am nervous about that skating order

Dammit. I'm more and more afraid this will be a less than exciting evening for me. The entire setting says it's practically impossible for the Americans not to win the title, the streaming situation becomes increasingly worrisome, only choppy low-res if at all, and given how yesterday the GS server completely refused to respond from the beginning of Shoma's skate until after his scoring I fear something similar will happen over the entire ladies' last group.

Maybe I should just go to bed. :bed:

Oh, I am sorry about your streaming, I know how frustrating that is. But.....anything can happen and probably will. This will not be a snooze, just look at the Mens final! Anna is right up there to take the title. But any little mistakes by any of the top 6 could leave the door wide open for.................????? just like last night.

Well, if we're talking yin and yang of life the US girls are going to have a hard time fighting against the russians...

:bed::giveup::gaah::ghug:

I adore these emoticons.

What do these mean?

:angry1::scard7:

Oh my gosh, I just figures out that the description says what they mean! Duh!

Oh. So. Maybe you can explain how the fix worked for the US in the men's event last night? Or how it worked for Gracie at Skate America last October? I mean, SURELY you can explain those fixes so they make sense to the rest of us.

At GP circuit it is a little more difficult to do those "things", especially when the skater does a huge mistake like doubled a required element.

My prediction:
1. Gracie Gold
2. Ashley Wagner
3. Evgenia Medvedeva

I'm in the same boat. The judges are so ready to boost either Gracie or Ashley to whatever score is needed so one will walk away with the gold.

Actually, I just realized that I will not be able to be in the forum for the flnal since my nbc station will not broadcast until 1 hr. after the final group has started.
Crap. What's the matter with picking it up live just as soon as IN shuts down? What an deflating interruption this will be.
Maybe I need to go find a feed. Any advice on good working feeds?

Have you asked the judges? Is this how you know that? UM....Anna is in second place, so one could say the same there. Just sayin'

I really really hope Anastasia Galustyan has a good FS :cheer: :yahoo:

I love her FS to Les Duex Guitars. Hopefully the crowd can clap along properly this time but I doubt they can no matter how hard they try. Plus...she seems like a sweetheart. Go Go Go!!!!!

Is everyone prepared for tonight? Tonight LITERALLY is anyone's game.....well more of Wagner, Gold, Pogorilaya, Medvedeva, etc...literally it's all going to come to them. It'll be a fight to the finish.

Sad that such great act will be held when it is the night in Russia (SPb). But I will try not to look up results in the morning and watch it like online. This mission sounds like impossible, but it worths trying. Hope the winner will be the best of the best. And as to me I am puzzled, do not know is she at this moment ;)

And of course it would be nice for Russian team to get at least one medal. Good luck, girls! All girls!) at least 7-8 deserve a medal

Anna P. for WC! Anna P. for WC!! :cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer:
It has to happen, it rhymes!

How amazing would it be if at the end, underrated Russian #3 Anna would get Russia a gold medal? She also has the best 3-3 of that top 6 and the best LP for me too. So go Anna, gooooooooo!!!:cheer:
