2016 World Championships Ladies Free Skate

What a strange and unpredictable world championships it's been (I'm still reeling from Nam not making the FS, and W/P off the podium.
In the World Championships hopes thread, I said I hoped Ashley and Anna would both medal. I though that was my most unrealistic wish, but it's the only one that came true!
I'm so thrilled for the two of them!

I thought this was exactly the right outcome. Evgenia killed it 
(and was so cute just now on the podium), Ashley finally delivered two clean, strong skates when it counted, and Anna is my personal hero - the gal has been to 3 world championships in a row now and, despite everyone counting her out, nabbed herself that World medal.

I'm thinking about this event like this: in order to fully enjoy it, one must forget about scoring and placing.
I think if we weren't on US soil, there wouldn't be a silver medal for them (I am happy for Ashley, she did have great skates, got her nerves in check, but she wasn't better than Anna, that is my opinion). But I see the bright side of things: now we've seen what happens when almost all top ladies go clean for both programs, so that will only lead to all the ladies working harder next season(s) (some on the artistic side, some on the tehnical... all on the tehnical in order to beat the world champion?), I think this means we will have better skating, overall.

I cried for Mao, Evgenia and Gracie... Why take that medal away from Gracie? She is such a beautiful Fire Bird!!! I cannot accept the results...
Perhaps Gracie shouldn't have fallen if she wanted a medal.

No matter how this shakes out, I think it's brilliant that the event is ending with Ashley Wagner's Moulin Rouge. The show must go oooooon, folks.

Way ahead of you. Th US novice silver medalist is working on her 4s. She's 14.
I agree, she has the elements but just because she is landing them does not mean they are good
She might have forgotten, it would look awkward to make a U-turn.

I think Ashley totally deserved 1st place in PCS. She sold that program and her really upped her game on transitions.
I kind of have to agree that Anna should be the silver medalist. If Evgenia got over 72 in PCS then Anna should've been over 70 as well. They were really saving that PCS for Gracie and Ashley but Gracie didn't deliver.
Nah, Wagner was smoother and connected with her theme better. Besides in the mind of the judges what was smoother than Kostner's version of Shez? The placements are fair. Pogo can improve and climb up the standings. Tonight was Ashley's night.

Dear goodness, I thought I would never defend Satoko but *** are the judges doing putting her below Elena?
