Patrick Chan

LOL... look at javi's lashes ;) and of course, max is showing skin... while we have our adorable cute and dorky pchiddy :)

Re Tango as a competitive program... yes... that's what I mean VB.... with this music power is in the glide... with 3 quads , 8 jumping passes in total, there would be very little time for the style of the tango to emerge....

the power is in patrick's skating here as there's is no fast section of the tango. (i only watched once as of now so perhaps i need to watch again)...

in any case, it already has three jumps in it and two spins ;) we are close to make it into a SP :)
 Patrick cartoon-bombing the posers and strutters!

Yes, yes, tango is sexy and dangerous!:agree:

Thanks for the links! I also remember his Spanish adagio, one of my favorite LPs.

It's agreat for very precise, staccato footwork and impeccable carriage, all playing to Patrick's strengths.

Even Kovtun looked regal when he did the Flamenco SP by Romero!:p

It's also not relentless, like a Take 5, and I hope Patrick takes his time to pause and finesse the various tango positions, and the tango footwork placement and figures.

I HOPE that he picks something by Gotan Project, they are more modern, with very addictive beat.

yes... his aranjuez was nice :) but that's why I hope tango would be just for SP... we have seen already quite a lot of tango or spanish music for patrick.... he is really awesome at it, he is the perfect skater for it.... however, I like being surprised by Patrick :) so I hope his FP will be another masterpiece like the Chopin ;)

or something very very powerful like Boris Godunov

or from the same composer Mussorgsky : Pictures at an exhibition.... the opening works... the great gate of kiev too... lots of excerpts are available ;)

What do you guys think of Preisner?

He is hardly used...(touch wood)...hope it stays this way.:con3:

I like his Tango and Bolero, they would be great combined:

Tango. So sexy, elegant, and light (warning: some sexy scenes in the music video!):

Bolero...I can see an end spin at the crescendo of the Bolero:

Continuing with the Love theme...

If Patrick wants something Chopin-like, I like Conte d'amour:

This "Hymn of Love" can be great as part of a grand FS compilation:

had never heard of him as he is a composer of soundtracks. It's very well crafted beautiful music but it is in the "cross-over" category for me... and I think we have established I am a snob and prefer classical music ;) haha But, some of the pieces you have listed, I can see how they could work.

for tango, if Patrick does skate on one, it will be esqualo... it's already almost done for a SP.... why start from scratch ?

Conte d'amour reminds me of love story and of course it would be nice on ice but maybe it's because i have salé and pelletier in mind because of love story, I'd want to see a pair skate to it ;)

The bolero i like a bit less than the tango.

Hymn of love contains good material for skating... lots of smaller sections though which would require a great music arranger. It reminds me of Carmina Burana in some parts.

I have a feeling that Patrick's team would not know him as a composer.... very European. I am surprised we haven't seen him music more utilized by the Russians for instance? Especially Conte d'amour...thanks for sharing... Love discovering new music ;)

Aww...does Patrick really come on here to read his fan thread? That would be awesome!

Thanks for the feedback, 4everchan! I wonder if this thread is the right one to discuss music and programs? Hope mods will let us know.

I know he has Esqualo, but I wonder if Patrick wants to design a new surprise SP?
Back to FS music, it's really hard to walk a fine line between overused/familiar (La Campursita, Jalouse, Santa Maria, etc.) and unknown pieces of great quality...if it's really good it would be ironically used alot. Too little known and they might not connect with new audiences....but an unknown Seimei seemed to have worked for Hanyu. To me, Preisner's is refined and instantly likeable for a not so known composer, and his pieces have a sophisticated arrangement which makes it easy to pick highlights, different tempo, chords, cadenzas to skate to. I really can see Patrick using his unique SS for some of these, pieces that are too straightforward don't play up his crazy skills.

I like Great Gates of Kiev, it has that grandness of the Tchaikovsky overture for Piano Concerto 1, ...geographically, is there a piece you know that is closer to Korea for 2018?

Anyways, it's fun to to talk another FS fan who is a musician about Patrick fantasy skates!
