I will die with all the swan lakes/the swans. Can we at least spread them spread out over a couple of seasons and not all at once? Although, to be fair swan lake and/or the Swan are usually common choices every season, but they seem to be more so this season for some reason.

I've no idea... I don't watch Finnish films, they cause too much second-hand embarrassment

I can't help but think Säkkijärven polkka myself...

(My [Finnish] grandmother always used to grouse about how she detested Finnish movies... She used to complain that they were too "ruma". )

She was right  Ugly with bad acting.

Säkkijärven polkka is very fast-paced. Didn't Rahkamo/Kokko do some gawdawful OD to it?

It does  Is there a Finnish film, musical or theater with polka music? Definetely not a warhorse....

The most popular Finnish polka that I can think of is Ievan Polkka which is a tune with lyrics that is based on a traditional Finnish polka - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ievan_Polkka. It's also very fast. But I've heard both instrumental and slightly slower versions of it (although not much slower) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrOS1E21kNA.

Thanks. Sounds a lot better than säkkijärven polkka. Too short though.
Well, if it's an instrumental version it can be much longer - there is nothing preventing musicians from making an instrumental version as long as they want it to be with some variations in tempo, tone etc. Or Majorov could use Evan Polkka and something else.

That's even worse than SP.

I already know I'm going to love this FS, I'm not even joking. Love that he's doing something very, very different!

soundtrack of maleficent sounds interesting! Looking forward to what she's going to make out of it!
Hunchback of notre Dame - I'm not so sure about that, especially since Courtney is constantly being critisized for her posture ...:slink: I just hope she skates to the music and refrain from playing any character in this one ..

ahhhh! I'm so looking forward to seeing the new programms for next season!! I'm especially interested in:
Javi, Hanyu, Boyang
Yuka Nagai (her 2016 sp was incredible! She interpreted a difficult piece with grace and fire!), Medvedeva, Julia, Pogo, Ashley
Savchenko/Massot, Sui/Han
Virtue/Moir, Papadakis/Cizeron

Can't wait!! Why are the music choices always being kept secret?:sad4:

Fernandez's, Jin's (LP), Nagai's, Savchenko/Massot's and Wagner's (LP) music choices are not a secret - look in the first post of this thread.

Usually they don't want there rivals to know earlier in the season, just in case they do something similar during the training season.......

But the chance that you rivals are doing something similar is much higher when your music choice is a secret... ;)

Thanks! I already knew about Wagner, Jin and Nagai's music choices but somehow missed Javi and Savchenko/Massot's!
can't wait to see the programms of some (Javi, Nagai, Savchenko/Massot) and torn between wanting to see the programms, but am afraid that they turn out terribly wrong (Jin, Wagner, Kovtun)...

La strada was OK when Daisuke performed it, but I highly doubt it's the right choice for Jin ... :disapp: I just hope he does better than Nam.. Oh Lori.. why?:drama: Looking back at Jin's old programms even a classical piece would have been a better fit ..

I love Ashley but I'm not sure a quieter piece will have the same impact as the dramatic ones she excells at .. Hoping for the best!

Just saw that Kovtun is skating to L.O.V.E by Nat King Cole  I can imagine Kovtun pointing at himself when the lyrics goes 'L is for the way you look at me' I just hope it's going to turn out to be better than his 'I can't dance' programm, which was hilarious, but at the same time nobody would take that programm seriously...

Ludmila Velikova talks about Mishina/Mirzoev, and, among other things, their upcoming programs:

http://fs-gossips.com/ludmila-velikova-about-mishina-mirzoev/

"The new short program is to the music Saragina Rumba-17 --- "

&:

"The free program is to music of Michael Fugain – Attention Mesdames et Messieurs; Andrea Bocelli, Edith Piaf – Life in pink; Tony Tomas – Paris Kansille, we kept it from the last season, but the progran is almost new. At first we didn’t want to, but this season juniors cad so flip or lutz throw instead of toeloop, so we choose flip. The toeloop throw is not promising for the further work, very few people do it, becase this element is “cheap”. We began to learn flip throw for the short program and also add it to the free progran, to increase the number of repeats for the more effective work. Because of another first element – throw, we have to change the program. And I think it turned out better, with better skating. At the same time we revised final, made it different. Only the middle part remained unchanged – the slow one.

The music is the same….

L.V.: But the program is different. We’ll also change a costume, so noone will notice."
