Patrick Chan

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. He tweeted the picture on Dec 14th, 2015.

Vivley, great new post though!

Eta: I got a close-up look at the dog's collar. There is writing and I see "Darla" and some numbers. Maybe it's a rescue dog and not his??? He's been pictured with rescue dogs before.

If I ever get to meet Patrick again this would be the first question I would ask him! I'm a dog lover!!! :)

The picture is priceless. I'm melting....so cute together.

Aw, thanks, everyone for helping me with my question. Glad you enjoyed the post! And either way, the dog is so lucky!

I added a nice picture of Patrick laughing in his car to the top of my post . Hope you all like it!

Could you please explain, I have no idea what was going on in there.

I just guessed. Patrick's training place was previously Michigan, but he decided to train in Vancouver at the end of the last season instead of training in the US. According to previous interviews on that plan, Kathy also decided to join Patrick's plan, not coming and going to Vancouver from where she currently resides. That means his American coach Kathy also had to relocate her base from the US to Canada. That would've been a lot of obligation for her. That's why I said so. I could be wrong and other reasons can be behind the decision.

I'm waiting for further updates on this news. If they were amicably parted and then Patrick decides to hire another coach willing to upgrade his technical elements, that would be great for him.

Oh I get it, thanks. Who's the new Patrick's coach I wonder? I mean... The level of responsibility for that coach would be just... UBER HIGH.

I guess the split is amicable. May I suggest Nikolai Morozov, he's not that "star student" busy at the moment. But you're right though, we need to read the update first.

Beats me. Whoever will be Patrick's coach, s/he will take a great deal of responsibility for sure until their journey to the 2018 Olympics..

More from the same source:
More from Kathy Johnson: "I am proud of the success we have had over the last four years and wish him all the best."
She notified @SkateCanada of decision about @Pchiddy on August 15

Thank you, Sorrento! Wow, this was an unexpected turn of events, since Patrick had mentioned that he wanted to open his new skating school with her.

One thing that I noted but didn't mention about the car video that had me scratching my head was that Patrick was still in Michigan last week and didn't seem to have moved to Vancouver yet. Previously he had said he and Kathy would move to Vancouver in July. I was wondering when he would post that he had moved, or see a picture of a farewell party with his friends at the DSC. I have a feeling that the moving timeline has changed.

As I mentioned in my blog post about the Vancouver move, moving for Kathy would be very expensive, as her cost of living would go up almost double. Patrick might have had to pay her twice as much!

Will await what IceNetwork says. Pchiddy sure knows how to keep me busy!

If he stays in Michigan then split needs an explanation. I thought he moves to Vancouver and Kathy can't do that therefore they split. Hmmm...
BTW when Icenetwork usually update their page? I keep refreshing it like crazy, maybe it's too early for them to post anything and I can chill?

I'm keeping my eye on the Twitter feed (also posted it on my site) and so far nothing has been posted yet.

VB, that's a possibility. Maybe Patrick will move there when his skating school is constructed instead?

I'm hoping to hear a statement from Patrick about this news soon (he probably should have done this before the news got out). It looks like hardly anyone knew. E.g., PJ Kwong just found out on Twitter, too.

I think at this spoint I am more interested in his plan, you know. What he plans to achieve during this season at least.

Yes, Calica. It's very late for changes.

Well, I did see this tweet from a skater who said she saw him with the Shibutanis and Davis/White on 8/19. I thought that was strange and looked up the Shibutanis' Twitter account. Maia tweeted that she and Alex were on their way to Champs Camp (USFSA High Performance Camp), which is in CO Springs. So did Patrick go to Colorado Springs? Very interesting, but would explain why he is radio silent right now.

*Update - mystery solved - see post #6008.

I thought it was for US athletes only? The event, I mean. Was he invited to... emm... hold a seminar or something (workshop)? I have no idea what do they actually do in there.
What is your idea about it? If you feel like sharing or course.:)

If you are interested in knowing what Patrick's plan is for the next seasons, he has talked about it over and over when he came back. He wants to take figure skating to another level, not jumpwise but skating wise. He wants to achieve programs like he did with his Chopin, true masterpieces of music/movement blended together, like he is one with the ice. That's why he came back. If he skates well, he will be happy. Medals for him were not a priority. A bonus.... not a necessity. It is us fans, who hope for him to win it all because we know he can and could and should.

I thought the same thing. Not sure what he was/is doing there, if he is there. Even though it would be a great place to try out his new short program.

According to the USFSA, "Champs Camp is performance based. Athletes perform their short program and free skate programs (ice dancing teams: short and free dances) in a simulated competition environment. The camp also included technical feedback sessions, pre-participation physical exams, mental training sessions and nutrition seminars. Primary coaches of an athlete assigned to a 2016 Grand Prix Series event are required to attend."

My initial thought was that Patrick got an invite due to his coach (since she is American), or that maybe he got invited to speak at the camp.
