Patrick Chan

Lambert? Well, now I say, just no. Lambert can be a good choreographer, but not the coach. Patrick needed a coach. Good, strong coach.

I don't know how good a coach Lambiel (sorry I spelt his name wrong) is but he is so multiple talented and artistic. He knows how to succeed with two Worlds title. He had immediate success as a choreographer and has a good personality, getting along well with skaters including Patrick. I feel he may be sensitive and astute and communicate well. He had a long term close relationship and collaboration with Salome Brunner. I wouldn't dismiss him out of hand.

And who says about the choreography? Mishin can help him put the jumps - agree, sometimes Patrick have problems with quads. He wants to win, even he don't say about it, and for this he need quads. And Mishin wouldn't prevent his choreography, just pull his technique.

Patrick's 4T are gorgeous and consistent, a big part of his winning so many medals. 4S is in the works and it was reported at the beginning it came very naturally for him though he didn't proceed to put it in the programs. 3A has been restructured and he has been very confident with it. So he should not get a coach just for quads, especially one who gets his skaters to do quads by watering down their programs. More importantly, I don't want Patrick to ruin his body like Plushenko.

Patrick has a holistic approach to his training and I am very glad he does, for his health and overall performances.

Bwowning? I like him, but I doubt that this is possible

He said he had no patience to coach or choreograph and he was too busy. It's unlikely but he worked with Patrick before and they are good friends with mutual respect and admiration. And he is Canadian, and not skating professionally any more. Maybe as a special consultant?

Sorry, but I do not know why Patrick need a coach-choreographer, when he has so experience and talent that he can be choreographer. Patrick more than a remarkable aesthetic part of his program. His Chopin - a masterpiece.

Yes, Patrick has unmatched 4T. But in last season, it let him more than once. He trains 4S, but trains alone, and talking about it very carefully, as if he isn't sure about it. He needed someone who would follow him and that he does not overload his body with unnecessary load.

Yes, It will be great, I think *_* Patrick love Kurt so much.

I was talking more about who would be a overall good match for Patrick as a coach. In reality, I doubt he would go overseas to train and I especially don't see him training with Mishin in Russia.

It will be his choice. Given his history of going with unlikely and unconventional coaches, and, as I mentioned before, he never went out to seek a new coach before, I have no idea and am ready to be surprised. Personally I still see Mishin as a terrible match for him in so many ways.

I just gave an example of a coach who, in my opinion, he needs. If he's not had improved his tehnique, he will be difficult to compete at the proper level. Rivals are very strong now.
Yes, Lambiel was the champion, but that was long ago. Now the program is quite different complexity.

I'm waiting what him to say too. And so worried about him. It's too bad time to change coach.

I was just thinking, but can this become Patrick's way of auditioning a coach for his new skating centre? You get the privilege of coaching a three-time world champion & two-time Olympic silver medallist with otherworldly skating skills (but some technical help needed), a trip to the 2018 Olympics, and then a job at a brand new rink working alongside an established coach (McLeod) with a pre-existing student base. Your probation period is 2 years, after which you are clear until you decide to move on. How does that sound?

that makes sense... I am still puzzled with all of this... Denis V just moved to Lambiel. gosh that kid already has amazing spins, I wonder how much better they can be training with Mr Spin himself. I am 100% sure that Patrick will not leave North America. I am even thinking that he will remain in Canada. He was pretty clear about his desire to train in Canada the 2 years preceding the games.

I am just hoping that he is calm and collected. I have had many different thoughts, positive and negative following the news. I guess I am reacting a bit strongly because I have to admit that I really admired Kathy. As you know, I am a musician, so in many ways, what I do in life, when I coach musicians who play another instrument than mine, is a bit similar to what Kathy was doing. As a dancer, she could relate to Patrick and help him tremendously with body posture and movement. He knows the skating moves... she understands the body motions... like when I have to work with someone who plays an instrument I do not play myself, it doesn't matter as I understand music and sound production, phrasing, tone quality etc.... some of my best coaching sessions where when I taught students who played instruments I had even never worked with... you just get inspired... so I am "guessing" that perhaps, Kathy was able to relate to Patrick in a similar way and inspire him....
On top of that, she was a great presence for him to help him calm down before competition. She showed a lot of support.

So yeah... I could see Patrick moving to Montreal briefly, working with the people there he knows well already Liam and Elladj, and of course his buddies Scott and Eric... I don't imagine him working with Joanne only. I have no clue about his relationship with Kevin. I mean, they've been competing since they were tiny little beans.

I want him as far as possible from Toronto ;)

I think I should go to bed until August 31st ...we will find out what Patrick has to say by then... and of course, we may hear about autumn classic too ;)

BTW... I think the good news here is that if Patrick isn't happy, he won't be sticking to a coach who is not bringing him joy and progress in his skating. He is a grown up so whatever he decides to do, I have the feeling that we don't need to worry about him so much ;)

And there is one absolutely gorgeous fic about Patrick's and Yuzuru's romance, which began at the OG'14. I read it three times))

I don´t know if Mishin will be a good coach for him,but i am happy than Patrick will never train out of Canada. ... if he goes with Mishin , i will prefer his retirement

I little.... I have never studied russian language, but I'm spanish so when I was interested in figure skating many years ago, i only could inform me in english and russian pages; at the end between russian forums and translators online, i don´t know write or speak Russian, but I understand. i translated many russian articles for my spanish forum... Are not perfect translations but sometimes, a little good information it´s better than nothing.

Yes, and I don't think too))
But we have a lot of good fanfiction about them. Somtimes story so good and touching that make me want to cry. And there is one absolutely gorgeous fic about Patrick's and Yuzuru's romance, which began at the OG'14. I read it three times))

Welcome to the forum, Ayara! Yes, I read one part of a story that made me want to cry too because it described "Patrick" pondering the future and how he felt about it. At the time I consoled myself that his reality was much better than what was in the story. But with the latest developments, I'm sure he's been doing a lot of reflecting on his future again.

Yes, Kathy did give him a lot of good support. I hope his next coach does, too. I think it's essential to bringing the best out of him.

As for worrying... yes, I do worry. I don't want him to go through several changes and upheavals before the Olympics.

 In the meantime, enjoy this throwback picture that was posted on Instagram yesterday (showing Patrick before he became so thin).
