Figure Skating Anime

This thread is SUPPOSED to be about a figure skating anime airing this Fall that looks AWESOME and I can't wait to watch :luv17:

I was surprised there weren't any American skaters in the promo image but there are Thai and Italian ones? lol I wonder if one will show up in the series. I read somewhere that one of the creators took a huge interest in figure skating and traveled the world to watch competitions on her own dime so I think the people involved are very dedicated to the project. I already picked a favorite character, I can tell from character designs

Someone on Yulia’s fan thread mentioned that Yuri by inspired by Yulia! They mentioned that Mitsurou Kubo saw Yulia live, and was inspired to create a male version of her. I can totally see that since Victor’s character is the only one that seems relatable to Plushy.

hahaha I just read replies on the yt vid

SO many Kazakh ppl are happy that finally some Kazakh character on tv :laugh2:

Oh, that promo settles it. Victor is TOTALLY Plushy.

But I am still inclined to think that Yuri is Artur, though perhaps, a little more aggressive and less quiet than the Prince. That solemn expression, the golden hair, the green eyes...Victor's protege...yes, that is my Artur.

Why i have strange feeling that yuri is similar to hanyu?😂
Maybe is the black thight training suit, ambitious, and being potty mouth despite fairy-like? 😂😂
No offense o hanyu and fans (i also his fans!!) but in my mind, i always see him as an adorable bratty kid😁😁
Or yes, male version of yulia 😂😂

isnt he supposed to be Hanyu:biggrin: its intentional

I would have never thought Yuri was based on Hanyu because, well, Hanyu has always seemed nicer. The male, exagerrated version of Yulia does come to mind, though. The "wunderkind defeating his seniors" part fits both Yuzu and Yulia.

There is a character of a Korean skater, Lee Sung Il, however, who seems to look like Yuzuru. And I will be waiting to see whether the Italian Michele Crispino or Canadian Jean Jacques Leroy would have the shades of Javi.

And, oooh, the yaoi vibe between Yuuri and Victor is going to be off the charts.

I think you and Sugarpova are talking about two different characters- you about russian Yuri and Sugarpova about japanese Yuri [emoji4]

The Italian guy supposedly comes from Naples which makes him also slightly Javiesque - probably equally few ice rinks in Naples and Madrid

I'm interested in side characters too. Maybe there will be a group like Nikolai Morozov had?

Sugarpova was talking about the Japanese Yuuri? He seems even less similar to Hanyu than the Russian Yuri.

Morozov group, Tarasova group, Mishin group, Orser group... Some rivarly between coaches would be cool. But I'm guessing such subplots would be dependant on how succesful the series will become and how many episodes it will have.
