How long will Hanyu's records last?

Hard to say... with the judges being scrutinized way more this season (no longer being anonymous, and the ISU seeing who is deviating GOE/PCS wise), I think the scores will be more conservative. The GPF was also an anomaly in terms of the eagerness of the judges to throw out outrageously high scores. So, I think it'll be some time before we see Hanyu's FS/total records beaten.

Considering how they begin a season in juniors and some senior B exmp (Lombardia trophy) I doubt that... already 3 weeks massive overscoring in juniors happening. Just 20 min ago Samarin got 73 for a combo miss and a fall and there is no quad in junior sp allowed. So I don't see any bright future of judges suddenly becoming conservative.

Huh, didn't the ISU always see what each judge scored? You know, with all this 'those who derivate too far from the average have to answer for it later' stuff?

The difference is now that we fans, the feds and skaters see too... which IMO won't change much. I'd rather think the overall inflation will inflate on...

But maybe this is the new standard. You just need to get used to it :confused2:

*No quad.

It remains to be seen how frequently these quad-filled programs will have great artistic worth, though.

Your right. No quad. I expect guys to be very tired by the 2nd half and watching their artistry diminish. But Javi didn't lose steam after three quads and two axels at worlds. I'm hoping that's a good sign that some guys will have thr stamina to do both.

Uh, Hanyu too. Even Chan (though "only" two quads and two 3A).

Hanyu would be the most possible to break the record and then Fernandez maybe. But a clean program of Fernandez in Boston still didn't top that huge number, I doubt his possibility to do it this season when he does not up his technical difficulty.

Breaking the record doesn't mean planning 6 quads for 2 programs and doing them lousily (or even failing to execute them). Before speaking of any world records, Uno should keep his feet on the ground to fix his jumping technique first so he can fly a jump in a right way. His 'Quad Flip' is far from a real deal. I am not sure if he acknowledges and admits the flaw or how much does he have it in his mind. On the contrary, Jin's artistry and skating skills need an ambulance asap. I see his effort and willingness to improve but he needs much more time. IMO both of them were receiving generous PCS last season, they will continue the ride on this trend most likely, but they still have quite a large room to improve respectively.

what is more interesting IMHO is who will one day, when yuzu is retired or no longer at his prime, beat his records.... :) unless they change the rules again and the records are either easy or impossible to beat...

Well... May take a while, imho.
But then Yuzuru is not human enough to just top it again next year.

If not him, not sure. Javi is human after all, he may get close but not surpass.
Shoma and Boyang still have a lot of room to improve, so unless there is some inflation, its not happening soon.

I've got my fingers crossed that Yuzuru will break his own records. This season. His programs look great and the quality of his jumps is insane, including the 4Lo...seriously I can't wait for the day he breaks his records because it's gonna be something incredible. (hopefully I won't be waiting long).

Other than Yuzu, like most people here I think Javi could do it as he's already the closest. I think it would take a lot of work and a bit more time for someone like Shoma or Boyang to get there.

I'm referring to the new implementations where they're scrutinizing the deviation of judges on GOE and PCS scores and the frequency of this happening. So now judges are compelled to give marks that are consistent instead of giving huge marks to their faves and holding down the marks of the rivals of their faves.

Let's also remember Jin and Uno are both going into just their second senior season.

Exactly. I always have it in my mind and that's why I said they have a large room to improve. For these two young men, at this moment I don't see it's realistic to talk about breaking the world records. Perhaps some time later but not in this season. Yet until then the system may have been changed. I know they have so much potential that I believe (hope) the 2 young skaters and their teams know what and how much work they have to do. Again, let's keep the feet on the ground and drill it, just saying.

I think Hanyu's records which almost seem unbeatable may be beaten with the focus on tes and quads. I know have said this before in other situations i personally don't agree with the jumps being worth so much and yet the differentiation i pcs so little which is for the whole performance. Say you give boyang or Reynolds a 7 for transition but gave Chan or Hanyu 9.5 that is 2.5 pts but a quad salchow is worth so much more than say a 3 lutz plus the Goe's exponentially are affected 1 less than 1 second jump makes up for what really is a huge deficiency. So those tes or rather jumps can make you very competitive quickly.
