Victoria Sinitsina & Nikita Katsalapov

Yeah, the fed seems to take GP results strongly into consideration. I'm a broken record at this point, but this is why Finlandia (if they can look presentable by then) wouldn't be a bad idea. If they produce disaster skates at the GP events or some elements/construction/whatever in their programs are flagged as a huge no-no by international panels, there's no coming back from that. Or they'd need to skate out of their skin at Russian Nationals to try to make up for it. Better take their chances at Finlandia to get some feedback. Of course only if they're prepared enough and the programs are ready.

A bad performance at Euros can also mean being kicked off the Olympic/World team in favour of skaters that finished lower at Nats - e.g. R/T in 2011 & 2014, Kovtun in 2014, Leonova in 2014, Voronov in 2013.

They're going to Finlandia? Didn't expect that. But all the Russian teams are in deep need of rating points, and it's not such a bad idea to show their programs to int. panels. But they need to be ready, they can't afford skipping elements there. There's still time, I guess...

So, somewhat predictably withdrawn from Finlandia again. I fear it might be the injury. :( They were working to integrate lifts into the programs now, if his shoulder is still fragile that might have aggravated it. It's one thing to repeat already learned old lifts like they've done so far, quite another to learn new ones. Anyway, I hope this is not the case and just my worst fears. Best case scenario, they just decided they need more time to polish programs.

His injury was fully healed in June! Nah, they just aren't ready. I am not even sure they are on this continent at the moment.

What is "healed", though? Not bothering him in everyday life? Frankly, the fact that they have zero new lifts so far is a bit of an alarm bell for me. Yes, all teams are recycling, but it means the lifts were an afterthought and probably chosen that way to practice them as little as possible.

He seemed to have no trouble at all performing multiple lifts in quick succession in the Moscow gala just before the Russian Test Skates.
If he still was injured why would he have done so many lifts?

I don't know how the mechanics of lifts work, but I know how the mechanics of gala programs work: Do many lifts, so you don't have to do any kind of actual choreography. Things like that get thrown together quickly and lifts eat up a lot of time you'd have to fill with actual content otherwise.

So far, they've shown up with programs at Russian test skates that looked like they'd just been recently learned. The lifts are all old, or not even integrated yet. Full training since June has obviously not been possible, the state of their one performance so far reflects that. It's obvious to me that they're behind in preparations compared to other teams. He, in particular, didn't even seem like he had all the choreography for the FD properly learned yet, it really disintegrated towards the end there.

I mean, disintegrating after a mistake is not really new or unusual for Nikita, prepared or not...

amazing!

cant wait for new lifts
Hopefully everythings good with Niki's shoulder & their general health!

I`m glad they have a competition before their first GP!
They`ve lost 3-month of training time. But hopefully they had a fruitful practice time in Moscow and will have new lifts and a great outing there. :cheer:

It would be great if they could also go to
2016 Coupe de Nice
Oct 19-23, 2016
