Figure Skating Anime

Back on track, Yuri is probably a based on many skaters, just like Viktor seems a mix between Plushy and Yags XD

No. Victor is Plushy. His middle name is Victorovich. His movements like Plushy's. https://twitter.com/tiffako/status/779897095050231808 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFfClQibQCA&feature=youtu.be

Victor's story is Plushy's story and he is much more popular in Japan as Yag. His name is emperor in Japan today.

And look at this! After the first episode of the anime https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets...henko -petraev -RT -kanna_ plushenko&src=savs

I liked that episode. Even though it was very anime (quad lutz and then quad filp and quad te +triple toe at the end of program and a skater totally out of form copying it? only possible in anime ). But I didin't catch the name of a skater on the left of Viktor in press conference :( I like the interractions between Japanese Team :) And Russian Yuri is pricleess

Cathlen, for anime this IS realistic. At least quad lutzes, flips etc do exist and are jumped by skaters. This is what other sports have do deal with.

Oh lord, Kuroko no Basuke :palmf: the worst thing is, by the end of the anime, that 'vanishing drive' was one of the least outrageous things! I had fun watching it though. The worst offender is Prince of Tennis, they had players create black holes to stop the opponent's balls and their opponent counter them by creating infinite balls which was then countered by creating an infinite space vacuum. I kid you not.

YOI is indeed wonderfully realistic!

Tezuka killed the dinosaurs!

I haven't watched Kuroko but a friend of mine did and she told me about it and how it looked more like supernatural powers than basketball and (since my friend is a fantastic storyteller) I laughed my a $$ off.

All this bickering over a fictional tv show. Can't the characters just represent whoever the viewer wants them to be? If/when I get around to watching, I'll decide for myself and I don't really care about anyone else's interpretation.

Yes, because Yuri's story is also similar with Plushy. Plushenko won his first European silver medal and first bronze medal when he was 15 y.o. as Yuri (and Yulia).. But most of the people think Victor is Plushy...https://twitter.com/amatsuki/status/784242774417616896 - Victor doing a classic Plushenko Biellmann spin. And look at Victor's skating style! That is obvious Plushy is Victor.

Do you think who made the anime didn't know Plushy's popularity in Japan? Sometimes when he is in the Japanese Tv he was the twitter trend

in the taxi park https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkybZiqS4sE And he is a figure skater not a football player.. I have never seen similar celebrating for figure skater..probably Yuzuru has such celebrating in Japan

(Im really dont know anything about how anime production works:slink:)

I think Mao is more popular than Yuzuru. She's the most popular figure skater of all.

Yes, I know Mao's incredible popularity, but Mao is woman. The women FS fans can show surprising reactions (very loudly) because of a man. Did happen such crazy fan reaction for Mao? I'm really curious... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsEpvr0_eV4 Despite the fact she is naturally much more popular in Japan..

I'm sure Yuzuru had caused such a reaction.

well Im used to male celebs generally causing more of that reaction:biggrin:

After watching the Episode 1 now I can't wait for the future episodes every week, as well as all the fanfictions inspired by Viktor and Yuri :luv17::biggrin:

I watched the first episode yesterday.
Loved the animation, and the spins and jumps were all quite realistic. LOL @ Viktor's layout- 4Lz, 4F, 4S, 3A, 3A-3Lo, 3Lz, 3F, 4T-3T. Who's next? Boyang? Nathan? Yuzu? Anyone? :laugh2: Anyway, the visual effects are stunning and you can tell a lot of work went into making this a legit production.
I thought J-Yuri was adorable and really relatable. He's far from perfect- he gains weight easily, he's awkward around everybody, and he feels shame and embarrassment. I thought he was easy to connect to, and his redemption story is engaging.
I do hope that the Viktor-Yuri business doesn't take over the whole show though- the plot doesn't really need it to deliver an engaging story and I feel like this ship is in place only for the fanservice. Which is ok, but like I said, I just hope it doesn't become the main focus of the anime.
Also, is there a possibility J-Yuri is bisexual? We know he's attracted to women. That would be pretty cool.

No-no-no, we don't need such a happiness for Yagudin, as I was saying.

:coffee: Now I'd say this Victor is not a skater at all.
Yagudin never would dare to say: "I'll make you win". I think it's impossible to find a skater or a coach, who could say these silly words. The authors of this anime don't even know, that the ice is slippery, that even the best skater never can be sure he will win. What they are going to tell, if they know nothing about the real work?..
I expected a good animation after the promo clip, in which the animation seemed to be good. Even though I know, that usually anime characters can't even walk like normal people. Now we see more, and I'd say it isn't beautiful.

His movements like Plushy's.

:coffee: I agree. I have the same feeling. Yet I should say, that even Evgeni's choreography is more interesting than Nikiforov's "choreography". What did Nikiforov do besides his jumps? Some weak wavings of hands?..

Yet I don't remember Evgeni skating with such a face of a dying man. Nikiforov is nearly crying:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CoqYqZgWYAEua6I.jpg
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net...ViktorN.png/revision/latest?cb=20160420112456
It is not only about Nikiforov's face, his hands are crying too. That is what these animators are able to draw.
Well, Evgeni can show something like such emotion - for a short moment, sometimes. But "show" is a key word here.

A body in animation can be more musical and beautiful!
:clapper: A body in animation can move like this:

Victor's story is Plushy's story

We didn't know, that this Victor still competes. Now we know it. He is 27 years old!

:laugh15: I guess Victor was a bad skater, then he suddenly understood: "Oh! I am 23 years old!" - and started to win championships one by one. An amazing story.

If you'd like to say: "Victor's story is Plushy's story"... well, I don't mind... though for me this story is too amazing.
