I guess so as well, it's a heavy crush which no one wants to admit, Yuzuru is so pretty and charming. He probably just has a crush on himchildren often pick on those they like the most
Yes, "Hanyu is not a creator, he's just an athlete' had me rolling with laughter. It was so ridiculous that I couldn't even get angry. Being creative and creating a character/picture on ice is the matter of pointing your toes and extending arms and legs and little else...

I'm in.yeah we're all in denial hereI guess so as well, it's a heavy crush which no one wants to admit, Yuzuru is so pretty and charming.
we should rename the "fan fest" to "self-help group"Some people are just stuck at Pre-Sochi Hanyu :noshake:
IMHO, he has improved leaps and bounds from there, and I think some people just need time (lol) to adjust to these.
He is already a skating legend though, regardless of what people think and say about him. Otherwise people won't be Hanyu this, Hanyu that, at everything. The fact that so many people (in skating world) has so many opinions on every little thing he does is kind of a testament.
Oh right of course he also won Olympic, worlds, GPF and broke world records 10x, how did I miss that.![]()

It was also the time when Artur had a chance to work in ice theatre rehearsing and creating his part in "Perfumer" ice show with lots of great choreographers and with Stephane Lambiel who skated the part of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille and Stephane is a very creative and inspiring person. So- when you get to work with artists and discover something you have never had a chance to recreate on ice during your competitive career- you start to see things in a different way. I don't think Artur ever appreciated Patrick's SS that much since Artur was a product created by Mishin and was a copy of Plushenko in so many ways. Mishin and his biggest athletes are famous with their technical aspect and their artistic range is not that well developed, they hit one suitable style and roll with it. And Artur was strong and won only when performed technically. When his jumps were off his entire programs were a mess. But he insisted in his interview that Yuzu "is no creator, he's a sportsman. He's good at skating, but he has slack arms, slack knees, toes not pointed... I've never seen him creating a picture/character on the ice. "
The funny thing was this is what he answered when he got asked about Yuzuru's Chopin. And this was January 2016 - Artur had to live in a bunker to ignore all the buzz about Hanyu at the time.![]()
He is ultra-competitive but at the same time very humble, I love that about him. That's exactly why I cared: Arthur's going to be a coach & choreographer, so he should have good instincts and recognise the progress of other skaters and all kind of beauty in their skating. But he's in denial when it comes to Yuzuru, which I find too narrow-minded for such a young manwhy should I care about it? It's just an opinion of a former athlete turned coach.
(Probably it is Mishin's influence - he never actually liked Yuzu's skills and passed this attitude to his pupils, except Plushenko, but Evgeni was already adult when Yuzure came to the FS scene).Well, yeah. To each of their own I guess, he is entitled to his opinion but at the same time other people are also entitled to have reaction to his opinion, haha.
This makes Hanyu really admirable for me. Regardless of all his talent and achievements, he still compliment others skating (Patrick, Boyang, Shoma, Javi etc) and even genuinely admit what he is lacking of among other skaters. Remember after AC he said he knew Javi and Shoma scored over 190 and he said he felt ashamed? I know he compliment and admire Boyang's quads, Patrick's SS, I even remember in his post-worlds interview he said that he thought Javi has more stable jump than him.He is ultra-competitive but at the same time very humble, I love that about him.

Because how can he pass that attitude to his pupils? "Listen, kid, Hanyu is nothing special. Don't be like him. Don't do those +3GOE jumps that judges love. Don't have the audience going crazy for you. Don't win all those gold medals." :scratch:In all sincerity, Artur (or any other Mishin student, I must say...) saying that competitors lack in the artistic department has me ![]()

4Lz is a present with Boyang and Naithan already.I wonder what Mishin will say if one day Hanyu brings 4lz aka "the future"![]()

That's so true I remember back in 1997 before moving to Tat Yagudin's nickname was "Flying Chair" because he was a jumping bean with zero artistry under Mishin.. with tat he became great performer.![]()

Well, Evgheni is not a rocket scientist but he is old enough to know one thing: good relationships with Japanese athletes means invitations to the shows. Shows in Japan equal good money. And there aren't so many possibilities to visit Japan when you're retired if you are not being invited on a regular basis.except Plushenko, but Evgeni was already adult when Yuzure came to the FS scene).

Honestly those people who doesn't want to see how good is he, they will say an alien skater with whom they have virtual contact jumped 4 A better than Yuzuru even if he lands it one day![]()
