Here's one video I took at the Gala rehearsal. He is eating food & then gets called over by the choreographer. It's so adorable!:yahoo:

https://youtu.be/vW7FvlHMBro

I'll make another video of all my shorter clips into one video later...probably this weekend. Also, random but Yuzuru has an iPhone! He was checking it periodically during rehearsal.

in my opinion he is already in a lot better physical condition than he was at this stage last season, he did quad toe as 4th quad attempt easier than he did 3rd quad in his nhk fs 2015, looking forward for nhk
He will get that 4S3T, it's just about timing in 2nd half

What I noticed too is that by the end of his FS he doesn't even look tired or gasping one bit. He definitely slowly building his stamina for a 4-quad LP. :agree:

About his delayed 1A in EX, i found the post in another thread where she is saying it is popped jump!
The delayed axcel, single (tack?)axcel is one of the techniques. The commentator says ordinary skaters just uses it between steps, but Robin does this jump heigher and makes it one of the spectacles. What he does in Ex (and what David intends) is this. Not popped 3A!

This is very interesting. Though to me... to me...;) what Yuzu did looked so much higher and longer and... as if he wanted to rotate it and had changed his mind. I saw him doing it before (I think it is what we've seen this season starting from TCC vids). But nevertheless- even like this- what Yuzu does with this delayed axel is very beautiful. :luv17:

Edit: You know what, I just watched the EX again and I have changed my mind. The delayed axel it is. Gorgeous and angelic.

Thank you so much for this Lys! :hap10::thank:

Another comment from Angelo at the end of the ex:

"Probabilmente il più grande che abbia mai calcato una pista di pattinaggio nella storia, per le qualità che è in grado di esprimere, tecniche e non solo, proprio come pattinaggio..."

"Probably the greatest skater ever to have ever stepped onto a rink, for the qualities he can convey: technical and not only techinical, for the skating itself..."

It’s the post for ballet lovers. To see his EX, there is a ballerena who is on trackback in japan now. A russian great ballerena, Maya Plisetskaya, who passed away last year (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_Plisetskaya). She contributed to the development of ballet in Japan for 4o years. She’d came to Japan several times since 197o’s. One of representative works is “The dying swan”, music by Saint-Saëns, the same as yuzu’s. Of course, i havent watched her live, but ive read several times Japanese artists or so who watched her swan live write about her, how she was stunning and like a miracle. Her performances are legend here.
She died last year. And great Russian Tarasowa gave this music to one Japanese skater. It’s such a honor and we cant help but think how it is meaningful.
I repeated her swan today and found this swan is my favorite.

Another thing, her life was full of pain and sacrifice although i dont write in detail. Under the pressures, she just loved ballet and devoted herself to it. She just continued achieve the performances through her life. They were strong and had the spirit. She shined under the adversity. I cant compare her with him, but her swan reminds me of yuzu, who loves figure skating more than else and is fighting whatever happens to him. In many ways, it’s a memorable program to me.

Bless him, I can't send my hug through facebook to him lol.

Here are some more examples:

Axel variations
  • A delayed axel is similar to a regular axel, but the skater takes a very open body position on the ascent of the jump before pulling in to complete the rotation, in a similar way to the saut de basque in ballet. Robin Cousins mastered this variation.
  • In an open axel, the skater maintains an open body position throughout the jump without delaying the rotation.
  • A tuck axel has the same take-off and landing as a regular axel, but the skater pulls the legs up into a tuck or sit spin position in the air.

Thank you very much Lys. I always appreciate the italian comments a lot, and especially those of Massimilano and Angelo.

I roughly translated what was said during the Ex performance so that people here can have an idea of how positive those two are when talking about Yuzu. (Italian is my second language, and although I'm pretty good at it I may also be a bit rusty, so for the Italian people on this forum, don't hesistate to tell me if I mistranslated something ;))

M :And now Yuzuru Hanyu who was again unable to dispel the Skate Canada malediction. However he showed us hints of some very promising things in both programs. Besides he won the FS.

A :He won with a clear margin : the technical content he presented is very high. It may not seem high to his standards, but it definitely is for the other skaters. He couldn’t overtake Chan because of too many mistakes in the short though.

-----

M :Lately Ex programmes have become competitive ones for a number of skaters (ie Kostner and Chan). Here there is everything to do so with Hanyu. What a prospect !

A : Yes. This is a skater with very exceptional skills. And even here where he finished second, he gave us a hindsight of what is to come next. Probably the greatest skater to have ever graced the ice in terms of what he is able to express through his skating.

M : Obviously people will wonder why he didn’t win. The answer is simple : he was unable to complete this season’s newest element , which is the 4L. Had he landed at least one he would have won. Anyway this is good enough to secure him a spot at the GPF.

A : There is still the NHK to come where he had historically faired better compared to Skate Canada. It is also later in the season so he’s more in shape there. He’s clearly upping the ante yet again this year. To think about the mindblowing things he did last year, we are now anxiously waiting for the NHK to see if he’ll repeat these kind of performances this year.

--> So Massimiliano is thinking of a possiblity for this Ex to become a competitive programme. I wish he is right ! :)
