Anyway.

Tarasova about Hanyu

The video bit where Tarasova talks about the letter. Yes, the photograph is in costume, he said to dear Tatiana , etc. Someone who is much better at Russian than me can get the whole thing, it's very short.

Actually figure skating fandom is relaxed if you compare it with Idk football fans or other sports. This is a forum where you can find a lot of different opinions, each person has his own view and as long as each one respects the other, it's ok. Personally I prefer to stay in this thread or in Fan Fest, everything is more possitive.
So can we just talk about prettier things? Like this :drama: The camera loves this boy!

Guys, i also sometimes feel negative and pessimistic about figure skating... :ghug:
thank you for sharing your thoughts and lovely videos.:agree:

BTW, now i have the time and review the videos of Skate Canada. (one week ago, we were in a flood of videos and i missed some..) and find it really nice. It was probavly already posted here.

It is about the free program. I remember the discussion about his jumps and difficult trantitions was there yesterday, like ““steps, jump, and step”, such difficult stream doesnt pay off score wise about him. If he make it more easy, he will get consistency.” (i wanted to comment, but i couldnt since i was so exausted after CoR Men’s sp).
he wont give it up since “it’s been his ideal, goal since he was a CHILD.” (from around 2:47). Yes, he sometimes says that jump seems a part of imterpretation and doesnt stand out, such is jumps which he is aiming for. But i dont know it is what he’s thought since he was a child!:drama:

Another thing, about the coreography (around 3:47), he feels embarrased to say that, but he wants to express the stuff in nature, wind, trees, water, etc. in this free program. i really admire he tries to show such lyrisism in his performance.
As Shae says, his skating life is “always challenge.”
He wants to show the broadness of his expressions more. He tries to embody another self from inside of him.

I think it was very nice of him to send her a photo of himself, in costume, skating to the music she chose for him. It is probably the most meaningful thing he could give her, considering her wish to create something for him that would itself most likely not actually happen. I am thinking he really likes this program and wanted to thank her for her part in it. It is like, " here, look what you did for me. " It is the type of thing she can put on her shelf, along with pictures of Alexei, B/B, Mao etc., to proudly display what she has contributed to skating.

Thanks for this, it's good to find solace here in the fan thread! And it's better to focus on the positive thing, so many people have expressed their appreciation for Yuzuru and so many young skaters mention him as their model that there must be a reason, no?

Wasn't this the reason he is a Yuna fan? Because she used to incorporate the jumps seamlessly as part of the presentation. And at the video of him commenting on Yuna (and Mao) he was 14 or 15 years old, I consider this a child. So I think it's clear that this was always one of his goals.

Irrelevant but I find this 3Lz so gorgeous :dbana: His 3Lz never stood out that much from his jumps for me but I love this one, it's so high.

I dont know about the scene. thank you for sharing.
I think it’s his ideal inside him from his younger age, a little child. He has an ideal skate inside him. He sometimes says he is on his way to embody it. The ideal is changing, but what’s certein is it’s so high. He he say he may fell down on his way, but he shall never feel regret about his challenge.
Of course, he wants to win. And his desire for win sometimes contradicts his ideal skating, since the difficulty prevents him from perfect excecution. But he sure is aiming for mixing them. To win by his ideal skating... It may come true at Olympics, or it may not come forever... But he keeps challenging.

You can watch it here, he talks briefly about Yuna and Mao, and previously about Plushenko and Weir. All of his biggest skating idols. I think it was after JWC 2010 when he won. Since you're japanese I don't think I need to hunt where I found the translation because I admit I have no idea where I found it.

Even though the sound is out of sync :laugh2:

And there's also several other videos of this performance with lots of views too. I think one can say that at the moment, Yuzuru seems to be the biggest draw to figure skating. With Mao and Shoma performances coming a bit behind in video popularity right now. not that Youtube views are any that much valid measure but just a fun thought

Japan surely is a major audience for figure skating.

I just started watching the new Elvis Stojko interview from Golden Skate and he had some very good and positive points on Yuzuru, about how his results at Skate Canada can be better for him in the long run, his great performances last year, how it is good that he has this year to come down from the success of last year to prepare for Olympics next year etc. Some things we have probably talked about as well but it's good to hear from the perspective of a past champion like him, so I thought I should share it, since the main thread doesn't mention Yuzuru at all.

That's so great! :yahoo: That Yuzuru is the superstar of FS right now, can hardly be doubted. Apart from his skates, there are videos of fans with his photos or his commercials who have more views than many other skater's programs at important competitions. And while the Japanese are clearly in awe of him, I think he really has fans worldwide...look at the comments below the video, they are for most part written in English and I doubt that his Japanese fans would do this.

So nice of you to share these. Assuming these were all shot handheld (as I see some occasional wobbles) I'm really amazed by how stable you held your video camera while shooting these. Panning was smooth, and when the video was stationary, it really was stationary. Just excellent.

Yes I shot these all on my iPhone and tried to keep still. Most of the bobbles was me trying to applaud and film at the same time! I'll also admit after recording so much over the weekend my arms were so sore for a couple days!

I make it a habit to limit the amount of panning I do, as long as Yuzuru is in my field of view then I keep my hand still.

Oh, of course. I didn't meant it in a way that only japanese people contribute to those views, he surely is very much loved worldwide. Myself and many others being an example of that.

I did my bit too with that video and many others. It's always nice to see credit where credit is due, especially in these hard times when PCS are thrown like candies.

I liked that Elvis interview. He was very complimentary of Yuzuru, said he was magic when on, but also had good perspective on strategy and peaking. That guy was a warrior on the ice and knows what he is talking about.

I liked that he mentioned Boyang as having a true 4L and it was not pre rotated...so obviously there are those who acknowledge the prerotations when many commentators have not mentioned it.

It's bit scared to go edge board, me too. who critcize yuzu every thread..and also who down other skaters mentioning yuzu even when he doesn't competed. and yes, also yuzu fan downs too.
I was not a fs fan before I know yuzu and even felt figure fandom war looked odd and unpleasant to me at past in my country. but understand some, now. sometimes I imagine If I didn't know yuzu, plushenko is all I know about men's fs world, haha.

Anyway every competiton is different and each skaters have had effort for their achievments. And judge tendency is not their fault. yeah, fair is important. but in subjective sports, It's gettig tired to argue that for me more and more. Also
technical matters became subjective, too. maybe this is why I'm a less competitve person. and men's fs score became simple. as who in this thread said, if you want gold or high score, you land multiple quads and other elements cleanish.
I think it's ok in aspect of sports, at least. For top contenders, pcs will be decided to their tes and consistency especially big stage, eventually. yes, someone will complain or agree, but there isn't anything we can change..just history continues whatever.
strategy and choice are up to skaters and coaches. I don't know how yuzu's this situation and challenge will be treated future.. but I think he cannot help doing he can as he said. don't you guys think this season looks like his 1213,1415 season? even though he
can't win or clean performance, he must try to land them at most. this will connect next season's feedback, I think. upgrade or keeping or downgrade BV.

I think what he need next season will be mindset when he challnge chan 1314season and keep his body health. yes, javier looks like rocking solid this season and other young guns with big jumps seems ambitious. As a competitor, it's a natural attitude.
but as yuzu fan, I think chaser mode is fit for him although someone disagree. Someone who had known him through world records call him prodigy, but I think he is more hard working man than gifted ones in mind, physical both way.

I sometimes go and read previous archieve threads like 2011, 2012,2013 seasons. He got praise and also a lot of criticsms for costume, injury, coach, style and national stage status, underscoring as a promising skater and overscoring as a contender skater.
Reading those posts are weird to me, even though he's still young, but he had a really long way...I really respect for any figure skater's longtime fans who have went through up and down everythings. and I can feel history repeats itself. After 10,20
years later, gs forum and youtube still fight whether under or overscoring and keep goes on... maybe then, I highly doubt that I will belong to fs world, but still hope yuzu's bright future.

when fav skater goes down, I feel sentimental. this is off topic, but my fav current lady skater is julia, although she will can't be top form again, still good to see her on competition. I don't know he will contiune competiting after 18, but I hope he will continue at least 1 season with nanami abe and team sendai as long as his body is ok..but it's up to yuzu and I accept whatever. oh too long and random writng of the stream of consciousness. and I love his swan as much as I love requiem

I now have super limited time thus there's no way I can spare my time commenting unnecessary comments at the other thread (even if back then I didn't really do so). I think there's no way controlling that, we just have to believe that there are plenty who just wouldn't bother to care or just refrain from commenting. The best way is to just gloss over it aka scroll down. Though I can see why some would want to comment if they see others talk bad about or drag Yuzu when he's not even competing.

Save yourself your precious time and energy guys.. fill your day with more positivity. ;)

Maybe some of you find this 'fandom' scary, but actually there are quite a few out there more terrifying/mean. One important thing to remember is that, this thing, fandom, whatever you wanna call it, whichever kind you're in, is supposed to be a happy place, your happy place where you can enjoy and indulge yourself in this little world, share with others and have fun, it's almost like a hobby with others, so use it well. Don't let the negatives overwhelm you, at least try not to. Focus on the joy and good stuff. :ghug:

Woah going on a tangent there, sorry!

I think the fact that Yuzu uses that many/various transitions and steps in his program makes him so special. It kinda sets him apart from a lot others. If you watch other skaters enough, you'll see how intricate everything (steps, etc.) in Yuzu's program is. I wish more people can see and appreciate that. How much works he's done for his program and how difficult it is, tech. point aside, I think it's remarkable.

I don't want to belabor the point but the context is really important here, especially when a celebrity is involved. Sending any old photo of himself could rightly be considered narcissistic. But sending one of himself skating to her music choice is sweet and thoughtful. (And guarantees that she'll be his fan for life. :luv17:)

Haha yes I see your point. I'm sure she loves it and will take care of his gift dearly. :agree2:

Our dear Fairuza's translation of Tat's comment about Yuzuru's gift to her:
-----
TAT: You know I had a nice surprise yesterday - the Japanese Federation found me yesterday and gave me a gift from Hanyu. I had sent him some music. I had the music and I thought it would be good for his Ex. He was in his costume - there was a photograph - with 'To Dear Tatyana' written on it, the photograph of the ex, and a two-page long letter of gratitude. They gave me all that yesterday and I was stunned, since it's not usually done with us (Russian athletes) - thanking a coach for...
Gr: Why isn't it done?
TAT: Well, that's the way things are... I was very pleased, very-very touched. Thank you, Hanyu!

That is very thoughtful of him and I can see how touched TAT would be. :luv17: Thank you for the translation Fayruza and thank you Meoima for posting it here! :thank:
