2016 Trophée de France Ladies FS

Polish ES guys has mentioned that there is water on ice... I think skaters should sue French Fed for dangerous condition of ice.

Wakaba has a real chance of getting to the GPF now, especially considering her second is NHK. I can't believe it but thrilled for her. Well done young lady.

highlights for me were Laurine's costume change, Wakaba's big beautiful jumps, and So Youn finishing 5th. :)))

also, Yuna's total score record survived another comp. I really was expecting it to be beaten tonight.

The true leading lady this year so far is Anna.

It looks that after the 4 events, three Japanese ladies finished 3rd at three events. So who has the best chance to qualify GPF?

Well, congrats to Evgenia of course and to Maria and Wakababy. (I'm going with that because I can't access where to see how her name is actually spelt, sorry) for winning their first GP medals.

Very, very odd day of skating.

So Medvedeva is in. COC is next, Radionova and Wagner are the best 2 skaters there and honestly if they're 1 and 2 in any order they're both in.

So that leaves Anna P., Satoko, Wakaba, and Maria... Pretty deep field there, if Anna simply gets 4th she's in. But then it can literally go any way for Maria, Wakaba, and Satoko. NHK sure will be interesting!!

For some reason I feel for Gabrielle more than ever. I've always had an image of her of that tough girl who could box you in the face if you weren't careful but the vulnerability she showed tonight made me a fan. I hope she can channel this into something amazing and do better next time. I don't see Kaetlyn Osmond as so much superior like the german commentators do. Let's see what happens.

I still adore Evgenia, but it's getting to the point where watching her is almost boring. The fall today was a bit of a shock, but regardless of the fall, the rest of the performance is predictable, as are all of her performances. We all know she's going land all her jumps and win 99.9% of the time.

Is there anyone out there right now who could challenge a mistake-free Evgenia?

The ice is so wet, I can see people's reflection in them during the ladies medal ceremony.

"It has been an absolutely sensational day of skating, hasn't it, Mark?"

"Oh yeah, for sure"

:scard8:

Ok the women didn't shine...

but at least I was very happy with Rippon's, Ten's and Javier's performances and some dances as well. Haven't watched pairs yet, so not much to expect there then? :ohwell:

Don't take me wrong, I loved Wakaba, but why is her PCS higher than Maria's?

Probably because as Polish ES lady has said, Maria music was monotonous, so judges might have felt there wasn't happening in program a lot? That's just my guess though.

Are any of the skaters talking about the bad ice? British Eurosport seemed to mostly ignore it, I don't recall them talking about it at all.

Would be interesting to hear them talking about it. But maybe they think naming it makes them bad losers. Tricky.
