Wow wow wow. So anyone who makes the Grand Prix final without winning doesn't deserve it, that's what you're saying? Even if it were US men, 'cause they suck! All of them! And Max is the only one deserving!

What rep boost? Maybe he won't have a TP that'll call his clean quad under and give favours to his rivals.

OK, skating at home boost is better term. And I don't think Jason will land his quad again.

Only Shoma and Javi have qualified so far. Assuming that Patrick and Hanyu take two of the remaining spots, whether Adam (22 points, 2 bronzes) makes the GPF depends on what happens at at COC and NHK. For example, if Boyang takes gold in China and Jason takes silver or bronze at NHK, Adam will be out. But he's still in the running.

Does anyone know if Adam is going to the GPF and if he is is would this be his first time?
The program is just so light and airy and so well choreographed. Just stunning. To see him skate that this after 8 years of struggling, it just makes me teary eyed.
Does anyone know what Tatiana was saying during Adams skate, I get the impression she liked his program.
I got all choked up too. It was an absolutely glorious program. :luv17:

wow. ok. I thought as long as you medaled in both you were a shoo in. I didn't realize how tough it was to get into the GPF.

Yes. Also Nathan and Kolyada each have a 4th from their first GP assignment， if one of them gets a silver from NHK, they are also in the GPF ahead of Adam.

Couldn't watch it live again so here's my thoughts:
Nathan... alright, I like that costume. His jumps aren't there but I think this is better than Finlandia. However, that chsq fell flat to me but the stsq is fine.
Denis... the front of his costume kind of look similar with Shoma's no? Not a total fan of that music but Denis has the grace to skate to it. He also displayed nice expression and a passionate performance.
Javier... again, this is his style. Overall, he did well.
Takahito... well, he did better than SC for sure. I think he slipped on the lz because he landed on that melting ice. It looks like he's used much of his energy by the second half too but overall a nice skate.
Adam... nice expression and he skated to his music well. Overall a lovely skate.
Misha... much better at SC but I still like this LP for it's loveliness.

I didn't see the competition yet. Poor Nathan.
What we've learned: Do not hype people when they are still young. Only Tara Lipinski ever lived up to her hype. Nathan may turn out to be excellent, or he may go the way of so many others, but they have to stop selling these kids as the next great thing.

Yeah, there are quite a few scenarios where different guys could make it - I just chose one easy example.
Question, though: if Kolyada, for example, took silver, he would have 22 points (9 +13) - the same as Adam. Does silver + 4th automatically beat bronze + bronze? I thought it was also only gold that trumps as a tie breaker, but I'm no expert!
Yes. When you have the same points, the first tie breaker is the highest placement on one assignment (2+4 is ahead of 3+3), the second tie breaker is the total scores from two GP events.

Oh please, that's not what I'm saying at all.
Just that I will feel bitter about it, because Max should have made the GPF last year, but was prevented from something out of his control. And that will be forgotten by those, particularly the Chen-crowners, keen to throw him on the trash heap. You will be proven wrong, then.

Huh - that didn't even occur to me! Adam did a great job today - I liked this performance better than his Skate America one, and its great he landed his 4T. But I'm really looking forward to seeing Jason at NHK.

I just want say that if we are leaving people like Kolyada and Chen in pewter as still in the running, we likely should remember that Alexei BYCHENKO had a bronze last week in Russia. In theory he has a better chance than the pewters, but who knows.
You have to look at the individual competitions coming up to see who has the best chance for the GPF.
Shoma and Javi are in, so there are 4 slots left.
CUP OF CHINA
Patrick Chan has 15 points, so he's in with a medal of any color, or even a 4th place.
IMO, he doesn't have that much competition:
Boyang JIN, with 7 points---would have to win to beat out Rippon. Don't think he can beat Chan.
Voronov and Brezina have 9 points---silver would give them 22, which would knock out Rippon.
Don't think either one can beat Chan, but if Chan had a VERY, VERY bad day and one of them DID beat Chan, then Chan would still make the final and the other one, with 24 points, would knock Rippon out of the final and MIGHT make the final depending on what happens at NHK.
Aaron and Samohin with 7 points are too inconsistent.
Kovtun with 4 points, even if he won (highly, highly unlikely) couldn't make the final
Same for Petrov

After CoC, for sure, CHAN, JAVI and SHOMA are in, with 3 slots open.

With 11 points:
BYCHENKO
With 9 points:
CHEN
KOLYADA
