Figure Skating Anime

Phichit's SP song is so Disney level cheesy that I can't stop smiling when I listen to it! I can imagine a Disney-like story when I listen to his song.

I mean, Yuri on Ice really went all out in getting some cool sounding original music.

I think the creator (if I understand correctly) post the detail of story "The king and the skater" which basically a shounen ai version of "king and I" with skating and harry potter touch.

This episode guys, this episode  I think I died a little or a lot. A couple of hours to wait for the sub but goodness.

What does the greater amount of exclamation marks mean?

In essence, I thought it was brilliant. The nutty Swiss, the crazy theatrical Russian, Phichit and the other skaters, the actual plot, character development, Victor and Yuuri, it just builds and  I'm keeping it vague because of spoilers but I loved, loved it.

questions  (please highlight btw)
on the cheeks or the lips? and who initiated it?

Ok:
Short answer, lips but actual last moment of touch hidden behind Victor's arm because of censorship but it's very clear. Victor initiates. In front of everyone btw! Longer answer, it's actually a pretty nicely contextualized scene that dovetails to the previous moment Victor had with Yuuri, where he offered but Yuuri said no, and then stuff happens and yes.
Added the bit I forgot.

Then it seems it is time I finally watch this  #IShipIt

Welcome to the dark side

Spoilers/Thoughts (highlight if you wanna know)

-Damn Chris, get a freaking hold of yourself.
-the Chinese kid was cute
-woohoo to Prichit
-oh Victor...well you're still learning so it's okay
-aww at Leo. Good luck in USNats!
-Yuri's crying moment was heartbreaking. I can relate with what he feels.
-Georgi is life. His dialogue is life. His costume is life.
-not a fan of the animation like last week's but it's expected

Spoilers/Thoughts (highlight if you wanna know)

That Victor moment you mention was one of the best serious parts of the episode, because he remembers how it was for Onsen on Ice I think when Yuuri really wanted to keep him as a coach, so he goes for that but it's all wrong! Because Yuuri himself has changed too and he worries how all of that will reflect on Victor. I am so glad that Victor's shown as someone who has a lot to learn, very realistic. Also what Yuuri says, just stay by my side and never leave? Those are totally the lyrics of the song that Victor skates his FS to, during episode 1! I love this show, Yuuri's development is one of my favorite things, among others.

Victor's flower crown is sooooo Johnny Weir! The creators really take inspirations from a lot of skaters :) I liked this episode better than last one. I thought it's not mystery that crying help remove stress and tension, but it looks like Yuuri didn't know... Less fanservice, more competition is how I like it, though this anime already qualify for at least Shonen-ai, I think. Rusian Yuri, how can you waste a borscht? :dev2: Unforgivenable! But I expect Kitten to do something rash, maybe emergency quad at CoR?

There's a lot of borscht in Russia anyway...

I know, there's a lot of it in Poland too, so? I was just joking, so I don't really understand why felt the need to answer to that.

Honestly, I thought there was just as much space here as Borscht in Russia! Sorry if I upset you in any way!

You didn't I was just suprised :)
I actually really like borscht, though it's probably a little different than what Yuri has eaten

It should never be wasted, good borsht is something to cherish!

O also thought of Johnny Weir when I saw Victor's crown. Actually, the whole the-dawn-of-Gicometti-chasing-after-Victor was cute.

I can't belive it but I'm getting involved emotionally in those skaters, I was heartbroken for Gregori! I'm so mad at that b***h ex-girlfriend of his who showed him thumbs-down from the audience! Boy, you need to find a new love pronto! But his costume was something to behold, omg.

Inglesia was a dead-ringer for Jason Brown and the way the coach sent off the Chinese skater seemed to look like the way Shoma''s coach does with Shoma.

Yaay, Yuri got on the podium, next week the showdown with Yurio! Yaaas!

On the Victor/Yuri front: kinda looks to me like the creators went all "yeah yeah, of course they're boyfriends, didn't we show you the steamy begginings, here you've got cute boyfriendy scenes, let's focus on skating now."

And oh how I loved their conversation in the garage, Victor's attempts to 'motivate' Yuri (he deserved to be slapped for that method), Yuri having a soul-cleansing meltdown, and Yuri's new burden of his skating reflecting on Victor's coaching. Whew. It was really well-handled, all things considered.

I love this anime! :luv17:

ETA: But the reused stock panels of the audience clapping had me roll my eyes. That could use some imrovement.
