This set of photos of Yuzu went viral in Weibo in the past few days, with ~5000 reposts, 800+ comments and 1300+ likes. Quite an achievement (I don't even see this a lot from the most popular stars)

I love how Brian accepts his fate as the pooh-caretaker gradually :rofl2:
(oops the formatting is so messed up - I will amend it.)

two years before Dolfini, BESP guys were already saying Yuzu was the future ...

I always compare other skaters (younger or older) to Yuzu when at that age, and I still find him very talented most, if not all, of the time. I admit I am very very biased.

I have to applaud Brian's incredible self-control and self-confidence when he first faced people with Pooh in his hands - a lot of people must have laughed their heads off first. But he looks sorta so homely with it. A true Mama Orser.

Does that include Yuzu himself?
That epic reaction when Yuzu made Brian to carry Pooh-san. #NeverForget

Hi everyone. First of all: thank you for posting all these news and for working so hard for translation of everything is going on about Yuzuru :).

I have a question for you: do you exactly know when he began to have/use the Pooh cover-box ? I saw that is not coming from his junior years, but sometime at the beginning of the season 2011-2012 (maybe I saw it the first time at COC 2011...?).
Thank you in advance for the answer.

You can read about it here https://sportymags.wordpress.com/2015/01/31/yuzuru-hanyu-the-evolution-of-the-pooh-tissue-box/

I think Brian has come to understand the value of Pooh. He is a very good psychological tool, an assistant coach, if you will :hap10: He is always quick to give him a position of honour on the boards, or in the KnC. :)

I do not know why, but this just gave me the mental image of a Pooh hand puppet and Brian doing a funny Pooh-voice going "well hello there, Yuzu. You look kinda down today. Don't you want to tell your little bear friend what's wrong?" One day I really need to get my head checked, like, from a real professional or something.

Please don't! We enjoy your craziness immensely! :laugh2: You aren't a dangerous type!

Same, me too. Though a number of 15-y.o (or younger) kids can quad this day, majority still struggle with even 3A, unlike Yuzuru who mastered it by then. Especially to the fact that back then on 2009/2010 you barely need a quad to survive as a top class skater even in the senior field (Yuzuru's FS layout at 2010 junior world is pretty much similar to the layout that the olympic champion the same year, Lysacek, used back then lol). He was always prodigious to me.

While at 3A, Zhenya is on Periscope now and today she did a broadcast. She gushed about Yuzuru's 3A during the NHK SP, said she has been watching the slow motion constantly around 100 times a day, how it was so beautiful. Wish there was a recording, I just saw someone mention it on Twitter.

If she doesn't have a tiny crush on him I will eat my hat. She has great taste though

There's also some light fluff in the Universal HD broadcast of the Men's SP I uploaded in full last night:

https://youtu.be/6R4tTaaMQTA

Tracy Wilson & Ryan Bradley discuss Yuzu during the opening at 0:01, and also the final group warmup around 23:00, and a bit at the ending while showing final results 44:17.

The Russian ladies seem to love him a lot.
I meant if you compare their reaction to Yuzuru to north american ladies who are pretty lukewarm. Hahah.

I think there's a general cultural difference in taste... and the Russians are probably more similar to Asians. Not saying that no Westerners will like his aesthetic, but more like the majority of the general population. I was at the tree-lighting skate-tacular where Javi and Johnny Weir were at NYC and I really cannot see Yuzuru being appreciated there by the majority of the audience, especially with the theme of the whole program they had going on. Imagine Yuzuru skating to jazzy Christmas songs in a santa outfit haha.
