Patrick Chan

Patrick might have been suffered from jet lag. It's a long journey travelling from North America to Korea by plane. He needs to adjust the time zone and others things. May be that is way he looks tire.

Just got home and finished updating my blog post with the latest. Thanks to Crosses9 for the Weibo video!

I didn't see Ayara's post until after I got done and came here. I agree that Patrick did look a bit lost or tired, as if he were out of it. But his practice performance was fine. I hope he stays focused!

ONGOING: Patrick Chan 2017 Four Continents: Part 1

Who is staying up or getting up early to watch the SP? I'll try, but I might be two hours late...

In the meantime, here's an amusing cartoon "preview". At least they got the colors of Patrick's costume right!

Patrick((
That's what so T_T

But I believe in him. Always

Warriors are not the ones who always win, but the ones who always fight
Fight, Patrick!

Patrick will bring it for the LP.

I'm pissed at the PCS scoring.

the PCS is out of control.... nothing against the other guys.... some are improving... but when you have Patrick Chan skating skills at 8.75... you know there is something wrong.

I don't remember last time patrick URed a 4toe.... that was heartbreaking.

Let's look at the positive here... because I still believe in the process...

Patrick went out there, after a great score, which he heard, by Shoma.... his skating all way through the SP was very nicely done.

All spins were counted as level 4. So was the footwork.

Sure, the 4toe didn't happen... but the triple axel flew up there and was gorgeous, perhaps the nicest of the evening.

The lutz combo... honestly, Patrick often does his lutz close to the boards and I fear when he has to add a 3t after the lutz because he botched the combo in the first pass... well, I was right because he was too close to the boards to really land the 3t and had to step out....this will be solved next year when he does the 4S :)

Finally, I think Marina was more angry at chiddy than Patrick himself... he was smiling, apologetic.... I am okay with that. I don't stay up all night to watch someone angry or sad.... this is 4CC and the big one is the next one. Perhaps that SP mishap will allow him to skate a great LP. That's what I wish for all of us and more importantly, to Patrick.

I was surprised at his quad because it has been his money jump for years. So it's a fluke or one time issue that we don't know of. The so called nemesis, the 3A, OTOH, has been gorgeous and consistent so it is now also a money jump. You are right about the Lutz combo being hindered by his real nemesis the board. ;) An early error usually takes away the perfect flow and causes a cascade of effects.

I am a little disappointed but not heartbroken. Always in the bliss. :) There is the LP on Saturday and I believe he will be geared up for it. And we know how wonderful that program can be. :)

I am happy Patrick has learned acceptance and does not let any disappointing performance and result get to him. He has the good mindset these days of accepting and moving on instead of dwelling on the negatives and let them affect him and his endeavors adversely. Focus on the moment and the goal and do what needs to be done the best one can, moment by moment, day by day, towards the goal, is a secret of success and happiness too. Remorse, regrets, guilt, etc are energy draining toxins. Patrick has achieved so much so he is now free to skate for himself instead of being burdened by a sense of responsibility to his supporters and the nation. The competition scene and winning criteria have changed drastically but Patrick is free to be the great skater that he is and to occupy his unique place among the best. With the inevitable ups and downs in a brilliant career, he is the embodiment of the ideal male skater.

Patrick's skating, even with the fall, was lovely. Also, you guys are so chill right now, so Zen. I wish it'd spread to other places.

If others would adopt and emulate the ethos, good, but we at least keep it here in this fest and sanctuary. Fun, joy, love, and timely zen.

There's a link to one in Vivley's blog (see post #8226) Just let the background music stop before starting the video otherwise you'll having dueling Blackbirds. You can spend that time looking at her wonderful site!!!

Thank you, I did find one eventually, though I'll see if the one you mention has better quality than the one I found.

Who needs to watch the program when you can read 4everchan's detailed recap? You know I will watch it anyway, but thanks for taking my nerves away before I watch. :)

Beautifully put as usual, VB! :agree: Gone are the days when we (namely, I) came here to freak out after a less-than-stellar performance. Now I only freak out after the great performances, in gratitude and awe that a skater like Patrick Chan has come in my lifetime. He is one of a kind.

Patrick's fans have lived it all ;) Our boy has won it all.... he has put on masterpieces performances on wonderful programs in so many different styles.
I think Sochi has made us learn that we love Patrick because of who he is and how he skates first and foremost... the competitions do not matter... all we wish for, is to see him skate beautiful programs.... After the perfect SP at GPF, and the near flawless Journey at Nationals, what else more would we want??? Medals??? I think that Patrick fans are chill because we are grateful that he is doing all this work and putting himself through this, that he is sharing his art with us...he could have decided not to come back.... Every skate is therefore a gift... and that's how I take it.

This fan fest has evolved to this place of peace and happiness. It wasn't always like that and I am grateful for your dedication VB. I feel this is one of the few happy places in this forum where everyone with positive energy is welcome.

this!!!! I also only freak out when Patrick gives us another great performance ;) I am still crazy from going to see him at Nationals. I wish Patrick will find his peace tonight and will be able to bring another great LP for us to freak out over ;)

The performance of men's SP wasn't Patrick and his fans hoping for but we all know that Patrick definitely has the capacity to do a much better skating.

"Tomorrow is a better day" I remember Patrick said that in one of his interviews. I hope he put this disappointment behind him with a new start. Stays focused and put out a great, strong, beautiful free program.

I was so touched by all the extremely supportive posts everyone have given to Patrick on this fan fest .
We are a bunch "hardcore fans"(quote from Viv), truly appreciate the excellent skatings from Patrick and wish him doing well :ghug:.

"HAVE A VERY SUCCESSFUL FS AND GOOD LUCK! PATRICK :cheer:.

Is it true that the Canadian judge gave Patrick 8.75 for his SS?

yes, Judge number 7, Mrs Nicole Leblanc-Richard. Her other SS marks were

Hanyu 9.0
Uno 8.75
Chen 8.5
Yan 8.5
Brown 8.5
Ge 8.0
Boyang 7.75

The top is the Mexican judge who gave the same mark in SS for Chan and Boyang (8.75).
Japanese judge put Hanyu and Chan tied in SS. Same for US judge. The rest have Hanyu ahead.

Tomorrow is a better day! Yes indeed. Thank you Patrick for this inspiring affirmation I will keep in my mind. This is better than "tomorrow is another day." You are an even greater fighter than Scarlet.

Patrick always has a better tomorrow because each day, his fans love him more than the previous day :) :hap10:

where is the cheese emoji?
