Patrick Chan

Well, the 4CC LP was a mixed bag. The 4T+3T was perfect and the 3A was awesome. Then the 4S, 4T, and second 3A were not good. The 3Lz was not his friend at this competition. :( The 3F+2T+2Lo, though unplanned, looked very secure. The program was enjoyable anyway. The footwork, choreographic moments, and spins are what make his programs amazing and he did all that. No, I won't show this one off to my friends, but I'm grateful to have seen another Journey.

I'm glad that he is excited to get back to training to fix these errors for Worlds. He knows he needs to improve and acknowledges how to work toward that while remaining positive! Results aside, I'm looking forward to Worlds! There are so many amazing skaters with different strengths.

The gala clips are nice to see! It's so great to see the skaters having fun with each other and being out of competitive mode.

I have realized that I love hearing commentary when Patrick skates clean but, when possible, I'll pass on it if he doesn't skate clean. I don't need to hear "that won't stack up technically with the others," "he needs the jumps to get on the podium," or any such things because I already know that. The commentators are paid to focus on the competition and sometimes all I want is to focus on the skating. So, in this case, the No Commentary video is enough for me.

there is no commentary that can work when watching Patrick.... when he is flawless, I am in awe.... no need to share that with anybody out there.... until the program is over.

when he is struggling, the commentators tend to focus on the mistakes and not talk about what's so good about Patrick... meh... no need for that... i am not blind.

Thank you, thank you. :drama:

I just finished updating my blog post with even more photos and videos! For example, I didn't know that Patrick was about to slip away from the green room before he turned back and shook hands with Yuzu and Shoma, clasping a hand between both of his. It seemed sincere, though.

Omigosh, what happened to all of Patrick's FS videos on YouTube? They're all gone!! :eeking: Only the fancams are left. Something about Fujitv blocking it... :scratch2:

I'm not sure. I seem to remember reading around 2011 that it was Scott Moir who gave Patrick the nickname Pchiddy. It was quite possibly a play on the popularity of Pdiddy aka Sean Combs.

If anybody else has a different story I'd love to hear it. :)

Pchiddy, Patrick's Twitter name, is a play on Pdiddy. Many people thought it was cool but I don't get it. :confused2:

I believe Moir and Moscovitch originally had competing claims as to who coined the nickname.

Over time, seemed that Scott ended up winning the friendly dispute and is given credit.

Question:
I've always wondered whether Pchiddy was invented as something clever for Patrick to use when he joined Twitter? (I do not know either way.)
But if it was, he joined in June 2009.

This doesn't answer your question but I'm certain that the first time I ever heard Pchiddy was after he became world champion and that's why I wrote 2011 in my op.

OMG... i was looking at wiki... just to see if there was any mention of the pchiddy deal and then
2009 - Chan contracted a suspected case of H1N1 swine flu during a high performance training camp in Vancouver. The antibiotics treating the illness weakened his muscles, and Chan experienced pain while jumping

2009 - 4everchan contracted a suspected case of H1N1 swine flu during a high performance partying camp in Vancouver. He didn't take any antibiotics but stayed home, quarantined for 10 days, weakening his muscles, and 4everchan experienced pain while performing the piano.

WE ARE SWINE FLU TWINS!!! Same bug... same time... same location LOL

:dbana:

I hope it wasn't you that passed on the swine flu to chiddy. ;) Was the high performance camp held at the Doug Mitchell Sports Centre? I recall you saying that you lived three minutes away from there.

All kidding aside (I know you would never to any harm to Patrick), but that bout of swine flu disrupted his training for the olympics. It weakened him and which in turn caused his injury.
