Looking at the protocols... some judges gave Boyang 9's for SS and TR I am not hating him but that is just not correct, right?

Since they can't give to Nathan, they have to give to Boyang.
They need to give it to someone who jumps lots whoever that is.

Uno and Hanyu had it rough from the Spanish and Canadian judges haha

Seems like only the S Korean and Ukrainian judge were fine

I didn't have the energy to get up for the men after the of the ladies. Go Yuzu for finally getting the WG! Go Shoma for silver! And GO JASON AND NATHAN FOR GETTING 3 OLYMPIC SPOTS!!!!!

Are there any real standouts I should go back and watch?

If you want to go by the audience, they gave a standing ovation to Misha, Jason, Yuzu, Boyang and Shoma

Oh Patrick that was gorgeous, i even liked the spontaeous giggle after hands down on the 3A.
Never mind the almost fall on 4T.

Truly the statesman of men's figure skating. They need to create a SS scale for you, otherwise you are just handicapped by the current system.

People use to complain about patrick winning because of pcs but now I would say he isn't being given enough credit in the first place and in the second place the scoring system doesn't allow him especially to get enough credit/lead over others. I guess you can argue Uno is like Dai T but I wouldn't have him that close to Chan. And even Hanyu has that artistic flurry of Dai but Chan deserves to be higher - I agree Chan can't beat Hanyu tech. It just seems wrong that Hanyu as good as he is and I know alot is tech deserves to be 30 pts higher than Chan for example. I understand that Javier can get away with doing the same charisma stuff. He is smart. he does what he does best. The scoring system rewards what you do; it does not factor in whether you do high brow or low brow or that you are one dimmensional - fair enough. I really think Javier is the best showman out there and kudos to him. And yes, with tech and and artistic flurry Hanyu is unbeatable. One other comment the Americans are so dang lucky: they do it again and squeak out three spots for oly. Every single time this competiion they have been on the edge (no issue about ice dance) the Americans and their lucky horseshoe get the benefit of the doubt. Good try Canada they almost pulled off the 3 men. And I love Jason's skating but it seems rather unfair almost that he is so close to Chen and Chan. I am happy that Hanyu won and with his tech. Uno too did well but in the old system Boyang might not get bronze; somethign more (pcs) would be required. Great competition - a little or a lot sad about Javi and Chan and Chen. Chen will have another day but he crumbled a bit. Men's compeitition because of the quad maniais so unpredictable good or bad for the sport.

Judge number 8 (Igor Fedchenko) loved Shoma. 10 for Interpretation and Skating Skills
Judge number 9 (Margaret Worsfold) loved Boyang. 9s in everythig including a 9.5 for Transitions and Interpretation, 9.75 for Performance.
The Spanish judge only gave 6.75 to Jin for Interpretation

It's just after 8:30am on the east coast of the US, and who knows how many crazy west coast people are up at 5:30am on a Saturday.

HAHA I woke up at 6:30am in DC after having a late night out. Believe me.. I still need a pint of coffee to catch up, and process the outcome before the Free dance begins. Good thing I ran to Starbucks this morning for a wifi after failing to fix my network at home. I rushed, forgot headphones.... :eeking: and had to watch the event with very low volume.

Not an ideal morning, but somehow I made it through....

Patrick Chan would've been World Champion with programs like these, in the past years he won (2011, 2012, 2013)....that's how the level has increased. Amazing. I wonder what Daisuke was thinking watching it.

I agree, we all know that Nathan has the technical goods. Now, he just needs to find the right balance to showcase the technical goods and himself when he's not jumping. He made big strides from last year to this year, so who knows what will happen come next year.

When you watch him as a junior, you see a charismatic skater with great qualities. This quad focus has been good in some ways, but has also made everyone forget that he's capable of much more. Loses are hard, especially when the expectations are high. But a true competitor grows from his or her failure and improves. He's seventeen. I can't wait to see how he grows.

Canadian judge was the lowest scorer of the event, except for the Canadian skaters, where they were the highest of the event. Interesting.

Now that was one of a competition...

MCM... clearly ain't perfect on the jumps but nonetheless a lovely performance.

Yuzuru... OMG, my prayers answered now I must do what I bargained. A win for Yuzuru in exchange for going to Church, I prayed. THAT. WAS. AWESOME.

BTW, I predicted before the season started that Yuzuru would break his own record! He only broke the free skate, but I was RIGHT!

Shona's triple Lutz received all -3s with one -2. He lost 2.10 on that. Plus the positive GOEs he would have gotten, that would be enough to beat Yuzu.
He needed 216, scored 214.
