I am a pigeon again, Meoima says hi to everyone!

(btw if that ^^ doesn't say how crazy and dedicated this thread is and his fans then we are in a worse boat than Yuzu and his GOEs)

Thank you! Good luck to Meoima for a speedy recovery. I agree 110% with what you said. Yuzu has upgraded his layout every year since he turned senior. I have full confidence he will do it again next year. BTW, 4 quads with the lutz sounds like a really good idea. :agree: Even though I would love to see 5 quads too.

When I learned to differentiate the lutz and flip, i initially used the first letters to create ways to remember clues to the correct edge. When you are doing a lutz you are *leaning over or away* from your other leg (so outside edge take off), and flip is falling in (inside edge) to (frozen) water. Silly, but I was very young and that helped, lol.

I could usually differentiate because most of the time the skaters telegraph the lutz so you see it coming a mile away. The flip has a different set up. I could tell the lutz apart okay, but for me in the very start I had a hard time distinguishing the a flip and a toe. Eventually, I'd see enough toes in combination that I could visualize it better as the first jump. The picking leg is not the landing leg like it is with a flip or a lutz.

I doubt he will get too confident. He isn't this kind of person and even on the top he always finds some element to improve ;) Yuzu constantly evolves and I'm not too worried about him. If his skating isn't perfect he is visibly sulky about it. Why would he get too confident now?

rmb after gpf 2015 when he skated perfect and he said he still wasn't good enough cuz his step sequence was only level 3? :laugh2:

Yuzu+Pink bow is life  I'm totally gonna get one for myself next time I see him live :dance2:

About yuzu saying he will not have a drastic change on layout...It ws suggested to me on twitter that he means he'll keep 3 jumps in the first half and 5 jumps in the second half and have something overall not widely different from the H&L layout/the YOLO 5 quad layouts he's tried at 4CC and WTT, rather than not adding a 4lz. Given that he's been doing 3As on the fly and adding 4t combos, it really wouldn't be a drastic layout change. And so long as the last jump isn't at the very end of the program like H&L, a solo 3A as the last jump is doable, so he can still have his 2 3As and have that wow-factor 4CC had when he did that yolo 3A as the last jump. like 4lz 4lo 3f // 4s3t 4t 4s 3a-lo-3s 3a ? maybe with another combo of some kind somewhere. swapping out the 3lz for the 4lz lifts his jump bv by like 5 points and requires little more than a little shuffle of jump order, which he's been doing on the fly anyway.

I guess it depends on what a drastic change to layout means to yuzuru...

For me, I learned to differentiate between the flip and lutz because of being a big fan of Yuna, and she had a textbook perfect flip (which I loved watching) and a great lutz as well.

And for my 100th post, I would like to also declare my love for Yuzu's jumps. I could watch him doing his jumps forever whether it be in practice, competition, exhibitions, shows, wherever, whenever

Aaah Yuna. She could do both of those well, but she did lack a loop which is my favorite jump (and it was long before Yuzu wanted to make a quad out of it, so it was definitely fate that I'd be his fan ). I've been watching skating since 2001 so I had to learn a while before Yuna came around. Aside from the lutz which the ladies telegraphed the most, I think the men helped me learn jumps the best.

Congrats on 100. I am a sucker for good jumpers and Yuzu's jumps take my breath away. My fave before him used to be Plushenko, but I just watched an old video and his and while he was still awesome, Yuzu's is the best. Though I do wonder what Yuzu would look like doing a 4t/3t/2l or a 4t/3t/3l. I know it's not as beneficial under this new system, but still.

News clip with rough translation for some paragraphs. Sorry if already posted. I have not read all posts, as too quickly it progresses

Hanyu suddenly mentioned the word "retirement". In the next morning after the final competition of this season, for the Pyeongchang Olympics, "I was going to say 'it would cap my skating life as a culmination', but come to think about it, there are various experiences and exercises packed in every game. My mindset has not changed. I just hope to advance one step at a time." In addition to that, looking back on the fierce fights over this season, "Even doing such difficult things, I have to put the program together. Because it's a high-level fight, I feel practices are fun and my motivation is getting even higher. Regardless of something like retirement, I'm enjoying skating now", he continued.

About 2 hours later, when finishing his practice for the exhibition held on 23rd and leaving the hall, he replied to the question asking whether he was thinking about retiring next season, "I'm not thinking (about the retirement) now. I have not decided yet." He will start preparing for winning the Olympic gold medal again with a clean slate on his course of action, including whether to retire or continue competitive skating, after Pyeongchang Olympics held 10 months from now.

In the practice of this day, he challenged 4Lz that he has not included in his program and landed once. But he is prudent for the coming season, saying "I'm not going to change the layout significantly", and showed his intention to improve the quality/perfection of his current 3 types of quad jumps, Toeloop, Salchow, and Loop. He will pursue comprehensive beauty by emphasizing the quality of performance including "program completeness" and "expression of his own". Winning of the back-to-back Olympic gold medals, the first time in 66 years, is waiting for him ahead after putting his entire body and soul into it one step at a time.

Yeah, it was too bad about Yuna's problems with the loop. But I still think she had a nice one whenever she was able able to land it.

And wow, 4T-3T-2L and 4T-3T-3L :jaw: I've never seen anyone land those. No wonder Yuzu is a big Plushenko fan.
