I loved everything about Sochi ceremonies :agree: I was so sad during the closing and extinguishing of the flame
I also shed a tear when the flame went out in Brazil.

I think the best of humanity comes out when we all come together and the ceremonies of the Olympics always seem to spotlight a sense of togetherness
Me too! I loved the Sochi ceremonies, to me it was the most beautiful of them all so far-I loved especially the gorgeous dance/ballet choreographies, and music selections.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2qsscRdiZk Chopin's Heroic Polonaise performed by Rafał Blechacz during 2005 International Fryderyk Chopin Contest in Warsaw (he won whole competition), still after 12 years never fails to amaze me the depth, emotional range he could get out of those limited keys...There is crystaline quality, spirited interpretation, compelling picture created from the music, perfect balance between being loud and quiet. And the way he gravitates between those runs, moods of the piece is truly masterful...

, beautiful music and memories about it associated with our most loved ones is the best mixabout Rafał...there are so many styles of playing Chopin, so many interpretations, yet he was the first person who showed for me a balance between technical virtuoserie and artistic finesse, all those channelled in one of a kind 'romanticism' in interpretation of Chopin's music under his fingers. There's a spirit, but what captivates me is how he varies it, how he's painting the picture of the moment playing Chopin's music. It's a very rare gift to have that kind of sensibility, skill and synesthesia between sound and vision. And he was only 20 at the time he won that contest in 2005...I love also to re-listen his final recital as a winner:

Yes - it is my favourite Chopin's Waltz, but to present it in such vivid yet effortless way is just rare to see where usually pianists seem to either focus on cleanish execution, or to keep up with the tempo changes or too much on themselves, totally losing the essence of Chopin in the process. For me, it's all about finding yourself in that music, not overshadowing it, and Rafał does that and more.

Shoma Uno said in the Worlds interview he is into anime and especially into Kimi no Na wa. Maybe he should skate to the OST. I really want to watch this movie, but it is not in theatres or DVD here.

Waltz in C sharp minor has been my favorite Chopin waltz for many years ... and, now, I have a new favorite interpretation!! I have another favorite Chopin favorite waltz so these two are about equal ...
Waltz in B minor Op 69 no 2. I love this interpretation but it is linked with a film credit and the artist is not mentioned.. :sad21:
