There is an interview with Polina’s mom, who tells completely different things about Polina’s health:
http://rsport.ru/figure_skating/20170428/1119739454.html
She says that in the past Polina suffered from a torn ligament and Koenig's disease but the injury she is dealing now is a herniated disc (= back injury). There is NO genetic disease. Polina does not quit, but continues skating!
So either Eteri or Polina’s mom are lying. My bet is on Eteri – her training methods obviously lead to a lot of back injuries (Lipnitskaya, Pitkeev, Tarasenko, …), stating Polina has a genetic disease, a disease which can’t be cured, is not compatible with elite sport and needs intensive treatment not only camouflages if Polina’s injuries are due to overtraining but it basically makes it impossible for Polina to change coaches. – Which coach would take an athlete with a chronic disease that needs constant costly treatment?
I wonder if this might have been the reason for Polina’s mom to give such an interview: to make clear that once her injuries are cured, she can train normally. Maybe her parents already want her to switch coaches, but given her current condition (and what happened to other coaches when taking former students of Eteri) no one is willing to take her?
In any case it's pretty strange that Eteri and Polina's mom tell different stories about Polina's health.![]()

Polina says that by doctor's opinion Koenig's disease in her case is genetically caused (hereditary):

@ewdokia Thank you for the translation and summary of the article.
What I don't understand is that, why does Eteri say this, what's was the purpose of this press conference? And why now?
I think both. She has a disease or even several possible diseases that, in combination with sports, can cause new injuries. Or maybe because of the diseases/growth, her bones are weaker and it is more difficult for her to maintain a shape without getting new injuries and problems with the tendons/bones.In the end... is she injured or she has a disease???? Why her coach and her mother are not saying the same?
If Polina 5'7 or 5'8?.... how tall is her parents? any photo?
They seem pretty tall.

Her brother isn't in the pic but I recall that someone has said that her brother is about 2 meters tall.
the picture is recent? because Polina´s height is 170cm? right?
